Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 161: Chapter 152: Dog-headed God, Anti-Recruitment Token

”Hahaha, my luck has finally turned! I found another wild lucky Treasure Chest!”

Ji Liangren ended his Transformation and excitedly lifted the Treasure Chest’s lid. Three items immediately appeared before him. Two of them glowed with green light, but the third one was actually shining with a Seven-Colored radiance.

Ji Liangren’s gaze immediately locked onto the item shining with Seven-Colored light.

[Anti-Recruitment Token: Special Item. Bound, cannot be dropped, untradeable. For Adventurer Players only. After use, designate a Lord Player to recruit them as your master, forcibly signing a Master-Servant Soul Contract. After completing the reverse recruitment, the Adventurer Player will not become a Sufferer as long as their master does not lose their Lord status. Upon death, they can be revived by their master using a Soul Altar or other similar structures. The recruited Lord will receive an exclusive Soul Summoning Skill.]

”What the fuck is this? Find myself a master?”

Ji Liangren felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped over him, his immense joy vanishing without a trace!

But on second thought, ’If I can recruit a reliable Lord Player who happens to have a Soul Altar, then I won’t have to fear death anymore. I can be revived infinitely!’

”Once I can be revived infinitely, won’t I basically become one of the Fourth Celestial Calamity? I can go wild!”

Suddenly, Ji Liangren felt that the Anti-Recruitment Token wasn’t so bad after all!

After stowing the item away, he looked at the other two: a Storage Waistband with 10 Storage Compartments and a Green Blind Box!

”The Waistband is decent, but the blind box is trash!”

Ji Liangren muttered, immediately equipping the Storage Waistband and placing the Green Blind Box inside it.

”Not bad, not bad at all. My luck is starting to improve!”

Ji Liangren felt his hope renewed.

He had been captured by natives earlier and stripped clean of all his belongings. Then he was thrown into a river and, in a daze, was experimented on by Dr. Qin. Halfway through the procedure, Dr. Qin died. He barely managed to escape the cave, only to see the Flaming Wood Tumor Army surging toward him. He had grabbed a piece of clothing from Black Tooth Village to cover himself and had been running for his life ever since, finally ending up here.

Now, he finally had a piece of equipment on him.

”Next, I’ll turn into a puppy and sneak into the First Armory!”

Ji Liangren immediately transformed into a dog again. This time, it wasn’t a corgi, just an ordinary, yellow-furred mutt puppy.

He let out two little barks and trotted happily back the way he came, wanting to see if he could safely enter the First Armory in this form.

Then, when he arrived at the passage to the First Armory, he froze.

The remaining nineteen Bayonet Robots had all been smashed to pieces.

”Damn it, someone’s robbing the place!”

Ji Liangren was startled. Unable to speak, he could only let out two yaps. Then, a Monkey King flew out of the passage. Before he could run, it pressed its Golden Cudgel against his head and shouted, ”Where do you think you’re going, demon!”

The one ”robbing the place” was, of course, Wang Yi.

When Wang Yi entered the A22 ruins, he received a system prompt informing him that there were a total of six True Armories containing supplies, twenty-six empty fake armories, and one secret weapon cache within the ruins. The ruins were vast, like an underground labyrinth with numerous passages, making exploration quite difficult.

The First Armory was right by the entrance to the ruins, making it the most conspicuous, so naturally, Wang Yi decided to explore it first.

As for the Bayonet Robots standing guard before the First Armory’s passage—impervious to the blades and arrows of Mortals—the Great Saint could smash them to bits with a single swing of his cudgel.

Fighting one against nineteen was a breeze; it just took a little more time.

By now, Wang Yi was already inside the First Armory.

His luck was good. This armory was a real one, storing a massive amount of supplies in crates: general-purpose bullets, armor-piercing rounds, rifles, grenades, combat knives, bulletproof vests, steel helmets, riot shields, and so on. It was all personal military equipment, mostly firearms and ammunition, enough to equip a squad of two to three hundred men without a problem.

”An armory, indeed. All modern weapons!”

Wang Yi only had one Storage Waistband and one Storage Ring, so he clearly couldn’t take all these supplies with him. ’I’ll have to bring the main force back to clear everything out,’ he thought.

Exploring the armory carefully, Wang Yi soon discovered another Treasure Chest. Opening it revealed a [Material Exchange Certificate·Bayonet Robot] and over half a chest of Gold Coins.

[Material Exchange Certificate·Bayonet Robot: Use to redeem 10 Bayonet Robots. Bayonet Robots are intelligent melee combat robots that will activate automatically upon redemption. They will update their identification data based on your status, automatically distinguishing between friend and foe, and can respond to your simple commands. Bayonet Robots require electrical power to operate. They are fully charged upon redemption and can maintain full-power operation for 48 hours. Please be sure to recharge them in time.]

”No blind box? That’s a bad review from me!”

Wang Yi muttered, though he was actually quite satisfied. He collected the Gold Coins from the Treasure Chest—a total of 3,200, which was a decent amount.

As for the exchange certificate, Wang Yi used it on the spot, and 10 Bayonet Robots quickly appeared before him.

”These Bayonet Robots are still quite strong. An ordinary Taisen, Leonidas, or Boyka definitely couldn’t beat them. I’ll leave them here as guards for now. I wonder where that Sky Pointer is hidden...”

Wang Yi assigned the 10 Bayonet Robots to temporarily guard the First Armory while he waited for his Soldiers to arrive and transport the supplies. He grabbed two pistols and some grenades to carry with him, then continued to explore.

The moment he walked out of the First Armory’s passage, Wang Yi saw the puppy being pinned down by the Golden Cudgel of his Great Sage Avatar.

The puppy had tears in its eyes and was lying on the ground, looking aggrieved and rather cute.

Wang Yi walked over, grabbed it by the scruff of its neck, and lifted it to eye level. He said in a low voice, ”Pal, drop the act. Don’t you think it’s strange for a puppy to appear inside these ruins?”

”SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!”

The puppy squeaked, its four paws scratching lightly in a show of resistance, but its behavior was completely normal. It didn’t react specially to Wang Yi’s words.

Wang Yi frowned.

He couldn’t see any information on the puppy. ”Still pretending? Believe it or not, I’ll turn you into hot pot.”

The puppy still showed no particular reaction, only looking at Wang Yi with a pitiful expression.

Wang Yi met its gaze, then BANG—he kicked it five meters away and shouted, ”I have Fiery Eyes and Golden Pupils! You think you can fool me? Show me your true form!”

The puppy fell to the ground with a SPLAT and stopped moving completely.

Wang Yi ran over and saw the little dog’s four paws twitching slightly as if it had truly been kicked half to death. He couldn’t help but feel a little doubtful.

’Could it really be just a little stray dog?’

He continued to test it. ”Pal, your acting is superb, but you can’t fool me. Still going to keep up the act? How about this: if you eat a pile of shit in front of me, I’ll believe you’re a dog! Bring on the shit...”

”The fuck!”

Ji Liangren finally dropped the act. With a POOF, he changed back to his human form and roared, ”If it’s my fate, I can’t escape it! Looks like I’m destined to fall into your hands. Come on, make it quick!”

Wang Yi was stunned.

’So he really is a fucking Player!’

Without the shit test, he had almost started to believe the guy was a dog. But in the end, the guy himself couldn’t hold out.

Now Wang Yi could see Ji Liangren’s identity information. He said, ”Ji Liangren, weren’t you captured by the natives to be a sacrifice? How did you end up here playing dog?”

Ji Liangren’s face was ashen. ”Monkey, cut the crap. I accept that I’ve fallen into your hands. Just kill me already!”

But Wang Yi said, ”You and I have no quarrel. Hand over all your personal belongings, and maybe we can bury the hatchet.”

Ordinary Storage Items, like the Storage Waistband and Storage Ring on Wang Yi himself, were bound upon purchase from the Free Market. Others couldn’t use or take them; forcibly snatching them would just make them vanish into thin air.

Wang Yi noticed a Storage Waistband on Ji Liangren’s waist and decided to see if he could get some loot off him.

Ji Liangren’s eyes suddenly lit up. He shouted, ”Wait, Great Saint! What do you think of me as a person?”

”You act like a dog!”

”I’m serious!”

”So am I!”

”I, the Dogman God, Fifth Rank of Fighting Power, a probationary member of the Dogman Temple, an unofficial servant of the Giant Dragon Divine Hall, and a Silver Medal Adventurer of the Atlantian Hero Association... I’m doing pretty well for myself, right?”

”I wouldn’t know!”

Wang Yi narrowed his eyes, momentarily unsure of what this guy was up to.

”I see you’re doing pretty well too. How about we, the strong, join forces?”

Ji Liangren silently made his decision. He quietly took out the [Anti-Recruitment Token] and used it. A golden light immediately flashed from his body.

Wang Yi was stunned. A golden light had also flashed from his own body, and at the same time, he received a system prompt: ”Ding! Player Ji Liangren has used an Anti-Recruitment Token to recruit you as his master!”

”Ding! Recruitment successful!”

”Ding! Soul Master-Servant Contract successfully signed!”

”Ding! Congratulations on becoming Player Ji Liangren’s master. You have obtained the special skill [Soul Summoning]. You can summon Ji Liangren to your side across time and space at any moment!”

Wang Yi frowned, not comprehending what had just happened.

’What is this situation?’

’Ji Liangren used an Anti-Recruitment Token to recruit me as his master?’

’What kind of move is that?’

’You can play the game like this?’

”Haha!” Ji Liangren dusted himself off and stood up. ”I, Ji Liangren, have successfully latched onto your powerful thigh! How about that? Impressed by my methods?”

Wang Yi stared at him. ”Are you sick in the head?”

Ji Liangren wasn’t annoyed. He put his hands on his hips and said, ”I am the Dogman God, destined to achieve godhood in the future. The fact that I’ve acknowledged you as my master means I think highly of you. Shouldn’t you be secretly celebrating?”

”You’re pretty cocky!”

”Enough with the pointless chatter. Hurry, hurry, exploring the ruins is what’s important! This is an A-rank ruin; there must be tons of treasures. Someone has already explored ahead of us, so we can’t waste any more time! Do you have any Weapon Equipment on you? Hurry up and give me some!”

”Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were the master!” Wang Yi said. ”I feel like you’re just some idiot that hatched from a Chaos Egg. What use do I have for you?”

As he spoke, Wang Yi activated Soul Summoning. With just a thought, Ji Liangren flashed, suddenly teleporting from one side of Wang Yi to the other.

Wang Yi thought again, and Ji Liangren flashed in place once more.

’Huh, this is pretty interesting. It activates with just a thought. Is there no cost?’

Wang Yi continued to experiment with Soul Summoning. Ji Liangren began to glitch out, flashing in place repeatedly, and his body became visibly weaker.
