Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 35: Chapter 35: I Didn’t Eat Your Roast Chicken for Nothing

”Take responsibility? Atone?”

Wang Yi sneered. ”I was about to reach the pinnacle of my life, to live the life I dreamed of, and then I was suddenly sent here. Who’s going to take responsibility for *me*? I’m a Player, not a Holy Mother! So save your ridiculous talk. If you were so kind, would you have created a Big Saber Team and a Bitter Worker Team? Remember, your men didn’t die by my hand. They died by yours!”

”Hmph!”

Lu Hongyan huffed. ’This guy really is a King of Competition,’ she thought. ’He has his own way of thinking, his own logic, and no one can sway him. I’ll never win an argument against him.’

”Fine. You killed my people, so I’ll kill yours. As for who comes out on top in the end, that remains to be seen. We’ll see!”

With that, Lu Hongyan prepared to kill Yang Wanli.

But Wang Yi said, ”Wait. Let them both go, and I’ll let you leave.”

”We can kill them and still escape just fine!”

Lu Hongyan chuckled and raised her long saber. Yang Wanli’s face was filled with shame. His lips trembled as he spoke, ”Boss, this old man is useless...”

Just then, Lu Junsheng coughed violently, spitting out a large mouthful of blood. With a shove of his right hand, he pushed Pang Damao in front of Lu Hongyan.

”Daughter, I’m not going to make it! That shameless brat... he’s done me in! Promise me, you have to kill him, or I won’t be able to rest in peace! COUGH, COUGH, COUGH... Don’t worry about me! Run! Go back to Black Mountain Stronghold! You’re the Second-in-Command of Black Mountain Stronghold! Bring men back and avenge me! If you can find my bones... when you bury me, give me a suit of General Armor, and have the headstone engraved with seven words: ’Tomb of the Loyal and Brave General Lu’...”

With that, Lu Junsheng’s head slumped to the side. His body went limp, and he was dead.

Lu Hongyan frowned. ’This convenient father of hers was hatched from a Chaos Egg. His death doesn’t make me sad at all.’

’But his advice is sound.’

’I can’t stay here any longer. I probably do have to go to Black Mountain Stronghold. I’ll have to make a long-term plan to take back my territory.’

She wasted no more words. As she raised her long saber to cut down Yang Wanli, Pang Damao did the unexpected. He lunged forward, blocking the descending blade with his shoulder.

SQUELCH!

Blood sprayed into the air!

The long saber sank deep into Pang Damao’s shoulder, but his eyes were bloodshot.

”You’re from Black Mountain Stronghold? Then you all deserve to die!”

Pang Damao’s face contorted, making him look like a vengeful spirit. Ignoring the long saber buried in his shoulder, he lunged viciously at Lu Hongyan, his hands clamping around her neck as he shrieked hysterically, ”Boss, kill her!”

”Get off me!”

Lu Hongyan, terrified, shrieked and began slashing wildly with her saber.

”Da Mao!”

Yang Wanli cried out in alarm!

Wang Yi shouted urgently, ”Big Head!”

Man Datou was already in motion, rushing toward Lu Hongyan. As the Second-in-Command of Black Mountain Stronghold, she was skilled in Martial Arts and should have been able to escape easily.

But Pang Damao clung to her like a man possessed, and in her panic, she couldn’t even display a fraction of her true skill.

A moment later, with a wet slice, the Sha River Overlord Spear sheared across her neck. Lu Hongyan’s vision went dark. She was dead. Her body dissolved into white light and vanished, leaving behind a Golden Scroll!

”Ding! You have killed Chaos Lord Lu Hongyan. Chaos Energy +6500. Gained 200 Lord Experience!”

Wang Yi heard the system notification and breathed a sigh of relief.

’Finally managed to put that Lord down for good!’

’That means I won’t have to carry out some of my follow-up plans. The security of my territory has definitely gone way up.’

’Lu Hongyan got careless. But Pang Damao... where did all that courage come from...?’

Wang Yi quickly rushed over to check on Pang Damao’s injuries.

”Village... Village Chief...”

Pang Damao had been slashed multiple times. Blood gushed from his shoulder, there was a gash on his head, and one of his ears had been lopped off. He struggled to force a smile as bloody foam trickled from the corner of his mouth.

”Do I... count... as... a hero... this time?”

Yang Wanli’s lips trembled. He wanted to speak, but no sound came out. He could only nod vigorously at Pang Damao.

Pang Damao looked as if he had received the greatest validation in the world. He tilted his head back, gazing at the pale light filtering through the leaves, and whispered, ”Dad, Mom, Sis... I... I’m coming to see you! Boss... I didn’t... eat your... roast chicken... in vain!”

His voice grew fainter and fainter. His arm dropped limply, and his pupils began to lose focus.

”With me here, it’s hard to die.”

Wang Yi muttered, then quickly took out the Ghost Gate Thirteen Needles. Disregarding the precise acupoints, he drove six needles into Pang Damao’s body in rapid succession.

The Ghost Gate Thirteen Needles: keeping the living from passing through the Ghost Gate. As long as a single breath remained, a life could be saved!

”You silly fool, you silly fool!”

Yang Wanli cried out emotionally from the side. ”Sigh... Ten years ago, I saved you. Today, you saved me. We’re truly bound by fate, you and I! The Boss is here, you’re not going to die. Just focus on healing up. We still have to serve the Boss, you and I...”

As he spoke, Yang Wanli knelt before Wang Yi once more. ”This old man is useless... I wanted to be of service to you, Boss, but I’m just too old and weak. I had an opportunity and couldn’t grasp it. Instead, I let that woman capture me. It’s a disgrace... a complete disgrace...”

”What’s done is done. Say no more.”

Wang Yi waved his hand dismissively. ’Yang Wanli showing up here wasn’t part of my plan; it was purely his own decision. Still, the fact that he managed to run into Lu Hongyan and nearly capture her showed he had a cunning side. The old man isn’t reckless; his ’hardware’ is just too poor. Plus, he’d only recently been pulled back from the Ghost Gate with the Ghost Gate Thirteen Needles, so his body was still weak. It’s normal that he messed up.’

’Pang Damao’s actions, on the other hand, were a surprise to Wang Yi.’

Yang Wanli seemed to sense Wang Yi’s confusion. ”Da Mao isn’t originally from our village,” he explained. ”I rescued him from the wilds ten years ago. His whole family was murdered by Mountain Bandits... and that gang of bandits was from Black Mountain Stronghold!”

”All these years, the boy may have seemed lazy and gluttonous on the surface, but I knew that deep down, he had a fire in his heart. He wanted revenge!”

Wang Yi nodded. ”No wonder he suddenly got so brave after finding out Lu Hongyan was the Second-in-Command of Black Mountain Stronghold. So that’s why.”

Just then, Man Datou handed the Scroll that Lu Hongyan had dropped to Wang Yi. A single glance told Wang Yi that it was an Intelligence Scroll.

====

Intelligence: One kilometer north of the General’s Tomb, by the bamboo forest, beneath the turtle-shaped boulder. Dig one foot deep to find a hidden Treasure Chest.

Note: The above information comes from the A-rank Talent, [Daily Intelligence]...

====

’A hidden Treasure Chest?’

Wang Yi was overjoyed. He stood up and commanded, ”Big Head, with me. We’re heading north to dig up a Treasure Chest! Village Chief Yang, you stay here and watch Da Mao. If Cyan Ox and the others arrive, have them handle the villagers’ bodies first.”

”Yes!”

Man Datou and Yang Wanli replied in unison.

「At that very moment, on Black Stone Mountain.」

In a large courtyard within Black Mountain Stronghold, a flash of light appeared, and Lu Hongyan materialized out of thin air.

She had become a Wandering Player and had revived at the Black Mountain Stronghold’s resurrection point.

But where she was once a Chaos Lord, the Second-in-Command of Black Mountain Stronghold, she was now just a Wandering Player with no status whatsoever.

What pained her even more was that she had reverted to her true form. Her slender waist, long legs, and beautiful face were gone. In their place was a fat woman, standing five-foot-three and weighing close to two hundred pounds.

”Dammit, how did such a great situation turn into this? This is a complete collapse at the speed of light! Can I not become a Chaos Lord again?”

Lu Hongyan gritted her teeth, seething with rage. After a moment, she came to her senses and looked around, only to find herself surrounded by a group of saber-wielding Mountain Bandits.

”What’s going on? Where am I?”

Lu Hongyan frowned deeply.

Just then, the same bandit leader who had ordered Ma Changgui to be dunked in a cesspit showed up again. He grumbled, ”What’s going on lately? Why do people keep appearing here out of nowhere? Is it that easy to sneak into my Black Mountain Stronghold?”

’Black Mountain Stronghold? This is Black Mountain Stronghold?’

The bandit leader shot her a glance. ”What the hell is this? So ugly! Damn, it’s an offense to my eyes! Men! The usual. Toss her in the cesspit to soak for two days!”

”Yes, sir!”

Immediately, several large, saber-wielding men stepped forward, grabbed Lu Hongyan, and started to drag her away.

Lu Hongyan frantically shouted, ”Wait! I’ve come to deliver a warning! Your Second-in-Command has been killed! The one who killed her is named Wang Yi, and he’s a Lord at Jade River!”
