Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Black Tech, Crossbow Machine Carriage

Wang Yi was stunned.

’Holy crap. Seriously, holy crap!’

’The enhanced effects are just ridiculous!’

’What planet did this dark tech come from? It’s so badass!’

’A 300-meter range!’

’Sixteen shots a second!’

’The arrows are automatically retrieved and reloaded! Isn’t that basically infinite arrows?’

’Some Crossbow Machine Carriage... this thing is a goddamn machine-gun chariot! With this, what’s there to fear from monster invasions? I don’t know what the other Players are dealing with, but I’m about to go on a rampage...’

Just as Wang Yi was thinking this, he suddenly received a system notification: ”Ding! A Void Rift has appeared. The first wave of the void invasion is beginning. 3,000 Crispy Chickens are about to launch a relentless assault on your territory. If your territory is occupied for more than 30 minutes, you will lose your Lord Talent and become a Wandering Player. Countdown commencing: 60, 59, 58...”

As the system notification sounded, a web-like Void Rift slowly materialized in the air to the south of his territory.

A dull clap of thunder echoed from the Void Rift, and light flickered within, as if some peerless, monstrous beast was trying to force its way through.

Wang Yi didn’t dare to be careless. He quickly climbed into the driver’s seat of the Crossbow Machine Carriage. He saw three keys hanging on the front of the vehicle, one of which was already in the ignition. He turned the key, and with a BEEP BEEP, the carriage started up.

He grabbed the handlebars and wiggled them; they were light and responsive. It seemed like squeezing the brakes would make it fire. There was even a horn. He pressed it, and it went BEEP BEEP. Wang Yi found it all incredibly novel!

At that moment, the countdown ended. The spatial rift expanded into a three-meter-diameter sphere, and one by one, Crispy Chickens charged out.

CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK! Gegeda gegeda gegeda...

Their feathers were Five-Colored and quite beautiful. They flapped their wings or stretched their necks forward as they charged, squawking incessantly.

[Crispy Chicken: A fragile chicken that dies in one hit. Its defense is comparable to an eggshell!]

’Ho ho, looks like the chicken farm let out for the day! Crispy Chickens that die in one hit? Defense comparable to an eggshell? So this void invasion is basically 3,000 eggs coming to attack me?’

After seeing the Crispy Chickens’ Attribute Information, Wang Yi felt a sense of relief. He adjusted the handlebars and immediately squeezed the brakes. FWOOSH FWOOSH FWOOSH FWOOSH...

Half-meter-long Flying Light Arrows shot out from the front of the carriage, like a machine gun opening fire.

The Crispy Chickens squawked as they were hit, sending feathers flying everywhere in a chaotic scene.

They were Crispy Chickens, after all. A single Flying Light Arrow was enough to pierce them, and some arrows even skewered several at once.

Wang Yi gripped the handlebars, adjusting his aim. Even the chickens that tried to dodge were no match for him; he just kept spraying wildly.

After three minutes of fighting, the ground was covered in a river of blood and a carpet of feathers. All the Crispy Chickens had been killed.

”Ding! Congratulations on successfully repelling the first wave of the void invasion. You have absorbed 3,000 points of Chaos Energy from the Void Rift. Your territory has expanded to a ten-meter radius. You are rewarded with 13 Gold Coins and one Random Building Drawings.”

”Ding! The void invasion is not over. The second wave will begin in a few days. Please look forward to it.”

”Ding! Congratulations on successfully repelling the first wave of the void invasion and ranking in the top 100 for fast clearance on this world’s Eastern Continent. You have received an additional reward: one Chaos Blind Box and one Green Chaos Egg!”

Following the system prompts, four items appeared before Wang Yi: a money bag, a Scroll, a Chaos Blind Box, and a giant green egg the size of a basketball!

’This is all I get for being in the top 100 for fast clearance?’

Wang Yi muttered to himself. He let go of the handlebars, pulled out the key, and picked up the money bag to inspect it. Inside were 13 Gold Coins.

’I wonder what the purchasing power of these Gold Coins is...’

Wang Yi tucked the Small Money Bag into his clothes and picked up the [Random Building Drawings] to examine it.

As soon as the drawings were in his hands, its Attribute Information appeared.

[Construction Drawings for a Chaos Warehouse: A bound item. Upon use, constructs one Chaos Warehouse in your territory. Requires 1 Wood and 10 Stone.]

[The Chaos Warehouse has 100 Storage Compartments. Time is frozen inside the compartments, which can be used to store supplies. Identical items can be stacked in a single compartment. It can be upgraded by spending 100 Gold Coins! If the Chaos Warehouse is damaged, it can be repaired by consuming Chaos Energy!]

’I don’t have any supplies, and the first thing I get is a warehouse. Awesome! But to use these drawings, I still need 1 wood and 10 stone. How do I get wood and stone? Do I have to gather them myself?’

As Wang Yi pondered this, he suddenly noticed that the Crispy Chicken corpses in the distance hadn’t disappeared!

’These Crispy Chickens count as supplies, right? ...They definitely do. In fact, they’re strategic supplies! I’m all alone in this barren wilderness. To survive, I need food!’

Wang Yi immediately realized the significance of the 3,000 Crispy Chickens.

But then a new worry arose.

All 3,000 Crispy Chickens were dead, but he was broke and had no one to help him. How was he supposed to process them all?

If he just left them, the corpses would rot, creating a terrible stench, attracting flies and vermin, and breeding bacteria and viruses. It would pollute the environment and could even cause diseases.

’I can’t let 3,000 Crispy Chickens go to waste. I have to pluck them, process them, and store them as a food reserve. It would be best if I could build the Chaos Warehouse and store them inside! I still don’t know what this Otherworld is like. If I store 3,000 chickens, at least I won’t starve to death for a while... I need workers. Workers who can process chickens!’

Wang Yi looked around. Where was he going to find a single living person in this desolate wilderness?

He sighed. ’If I were a great Prince, or a Princess of the Royal Mansion with a whole retinue of subordinates, this wouldn’t be a problem,’ he thought. ’But unfortunately, I’m just a lone Wanderer...’

Wang Yi’s gaze fell upon the Chaos Blind Box and the Green Chaos Egg.

The Chaos Blind Box was also Green-quality, that much was obvious, but the Green Chaos Egg also had its own Attribute Information.

[Chaos Egg: Green-quality. Consume one hundred points of Chaos Energy to hatch a loyal Human Race guard for you. The guard will be Green-quality and will possess one skill.]

’A loyal guard! This is great!’

Wang Yi placed his right hand on the Chaos Egg Shell. With a thought, 100 points of Chaos Energy were consumed. The Chaos Egg Shell before him cracked open, and a burly man well over six feet tall stood up.

The man had a large head, a thick neck, a face full of tough-looking flesh, and a fierce gaze. He was slightly heavyset and looked strong enough to wrestle a tiger or kill a bear.

”Your subordinate, Man Datou, pays his respects, My Lord!”

The large man knelt before Wang Yi, bowing his head in salute.

Wang Yi saw his information panel. His name was ”Man Datou,” and he possessed one ability: [Powerful Fist]!

”Get up, quickly!”

Wang Yi quickly helped Man Datou to his feet. This was a completely loyal guard, and one so strong he could never exist in the real world.

Man Datou was a good two heads taller than Wang Yi. His chest was like a solid wall, and his arms were thicker than Wang Yi’s thighs. Up close, his presence was incredibly intimidating.

Yet, Wang Yi felt a sense of security. If Man Datou had been there earlier, killing those three thousand Crispy Chickens would likely have been effortless.

Thinking of the Crispy Chickens he had just shot, Wang Yi shook his head again.

Even with Man Datou’s help, he still didn’t know how to deal with all those chickens. After all, he didn’t even know if he could start a fire yet. Turning them into food was easier said than done.

’I’ll have to gamble on the blind box. Maybe I can get something useful out of it!’

Wang Yi muttered, then proceeded to open the blind box.

The blind box was from the fast clearance reward and was also Green-quality. The moment Wang Yi’s palm touched it, a system notification chimed, a text window appeared, and his Talent activated. This time, a surprising 9 options popped up.
