The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 754- Cattles for Slaughter, the Powerful Sacred Sanctum (5)

Victor stared in a daze, not because he was enamored by her beauty. But because his mind refused to accept what his eyes were showing him.

On the other side, Varakos’s normally expressionless face also changed at this moment. His eyes widened, clearly expressing the same emotion as Victor.

The woman came out of the tent and stopped several steps ahead of them.

Victor’s mouth opened, and he spoke with difficulty.

”How could that be? You are... Saintess? You were supposed to be dead. How are you still alive?”

Varakos was similarly in disbelief. He was there when Lord Astaroth told him about the incredible power of the Horn of Calamity- Gjahorn. The Fourth-ranked Supreme Demonic Treasure.

Moreover, to give humanity a chance for resistance, she took all the curses upon herself. She was destined to die miserably, a fact confirmed by all three Heavenly Kings.

Yet to his surprise, the Saintess stood before them. Not only alive, but also lively, as if she was never struck down with the powerful curses.

Vanessa looked at the demons invading their camp. Then her eyes went toward Victor, and she smiled.

It was a gentle smile, but to Victor, it caused his body to shudder instinctively.

Vanessa looked at the man in the white coat for a moment.

”Oh. Aren’t you the leader of the Organization? You haven’t changed even a little from your wanted poster.”

Her voice was surprisingly calm.

Victor’s smile froze for a fraction of a second.

Vanessa’s words caused a stir among the knights.

GASP...

Naturally, they had all heard about the Organization and how it was an extremely revolting institution. Plus, over the months of expedition into the Tainted Lands, they already knew that the Organization had joined the demons’ side and was their enemy.

In fact, they had also fought quite a few revolting things that were the product of their lab.

Achilles stepped forward.

”So this is the most wanted man in the world?”

The crimson-armored hero rested his massive sword against his shoulder, his eyes burning with bloodlust. His gaze swept over Victor from head to toe.

A vicious grin appeared on his face.

”I wonder, would a man like you, who has abandoned humanity, bleed the same color as everyone else?”

Cassian, standing beside him, drew his slender blade with a quiet shing. Most wanted criminal or not, his expression remained completely impassive.

”Enough talking. Let’s get this over with.”

With that, he lowered his sword toward the demons.

The moment their weapons were drawn, their auras erupted.

The power of a Level 10 Hero was no joke. Even the air vibrated with a palpable pressure, and the atmosphere changed color. A crimson radiance surged from Achilles, while Cassian’s aura spread like an invisible veil across the battlefield.

The knights surrounding them also benefited from it. The weight of their glorious titles immediately gave them numerous buffs, causing their bodies to become lighter. Their breathing steadied, muscles tightened, and strength soared to new heights.

Even the exhaustion on their bodies visibly receded.

Seeing this, Victor’s eyes narrowed. He was fully aware of the strength of a knight who could reach Level 10 and be heralded a Hero. Even after engraving a Stigma on his body, he did not dare to look down on them.

Still, he quickly composed himself. He was just a bit surprised by Vanessa’s appearance earlier, that’s all.

”Who could have guessed that the Saintess is still alive? I guess some of Lady Duvessa’s plans did not go as planned.”

His gaze lingered on Vanessa for a moment. There were countless questions he wanted to ask. How had she survived? How had the curses been removed?

But those questions could wait.

Victor shifted his eyes toward Varakos and asked with a faint smile.

”What do you think? There are three Heroes guarding the camp. Our intel was wrong. It seems we have walked straight into their trap.”

At the snarky question, Varakos merely snorted. Flames erupted from his claws.

”Three?”

The next instant, his body began expanding. His muscles swelled as his skin cracked apart, revealing blazing crimson energy beneath it. His lower body completely transformed into a raging mass of fire, while enormous claws extended from his hands.

The ground beneath his feet began melting.

”Doesn’t matter.”

Even his voice became deeper.

”We kill all of them. Lord Astaroth ordered us to destroy this camp. And I will carry out his command.”

The flames around him surged higher.

As the first Demon General under Astaroth, not only did he hold considerable powers, but Varakos was also absolutely loyal.

Hearing this, Victor sighed. This was exactly why he disliked associating with reckless warriors. They do not use their brains and only think about moving forward without any consequences.

Still...

He couldn’t deny that Varakos had a point. There was no reason for them to retreat. Even with three Heroes present, they possessed enough power to crush the resistance if they fought seriously.

Victor adjusted his monocle. A smile slowly returned to his face.

”Fine. Then let’s see how much these Heroes can endure.”

He had absolute confidence in his [Stigma].

On the humanity’s side, the knights assumed their stance and got into formation. Achilles tightened his grip. Cassian lowered his stance. Vanessa quietly stood by the side.

For a brief moment, both sides stared at each other.

Then...

BOOOOM...

Before anyone could react, the ground trembled.

Victor’s smile deepened.

Something moved beneath their feet. Something colossal.

With its movement, the ground waved like water.

”What...?”

The knights were startled.

Black smoke began seeping through the dirt. At first, it was only a thin mist. But soon it turned into dark smoke.

That was not all. The grass surrounding them began withering, flowers shriveled, and trees blackened at an extreme speed.

Even the soil itself seemed to lose its vitality as a vast pulse of demonic energy spread outward.

BOOM...

A ripple spread through the ground as the earth heaved.

Victor laughed eerily. Varakos’s flames flickered. Achilles tightened his grip. Cassian’s eyes sharpened. Vanessa quietly looked toward the ground.

Even hidden underground, now that the thing had shown its appearance, she could sense it. A colossal presence rising from beneath the ground.

Victor’s eyes gleamed with anticipation.

”Ah... So it begins.”

He had given no commands. The Abomination was acting on its own. It must have felt the presence of Vanessa above and became quite restless.

BOOOOOOM...

The ground exploded. With the emergence of the Blightheart Colossus, the battlefield erupted into chaos.

”Let this battle begin.”

Steel flashed against claws. Flames surged across the battlefield, colliding with magic and exploding into violent waves of heat. Demonic roars mixed with the shouts of knights as the entire human camp descended into chaos.

Achilles Ironheart charged straight toward Victor. His crimson armor blurred as he swung his greatsword, the sheer force behind the attack splitting the ground beneath his feet.

However, Victor’s figure suddenly disappeared.

”Where did he...”

Achilles’ eyes narrowed, but before he could think further...

A tremendous flame erupted from his side, barely raising his sword in time.

BOOM...

Varakos’ enormous claw smashed against the blade, forcing Achilles several steps backward.

”Human, fight me!”

The Demon General roared, flames pouring from his body. His lower half had completely transformed into a mass of blazing elemental energy, while his upper body had become that of a monstrous demon covered in burning scales.

Achilles grinned.

”Gladly.”

At almost the same time, Cassian Nightfall moved toward Victor. His footsteps made no sound. His presence was almost non-existent.

Yet before he could reach his target, two Stigma-enhanced demons intercepted him. Their bodies twisted as strange markings covered their skin.

Cassian’s sword flashed as he nonchalantly executed a skill.

One demon raised its arm.

CLANG...

To his surprise, the blade that should have pierced its heart was stopped by its hardened flesh.

Seeing this, Cassian’s eyes narrowed. He quickly dodged a claw trying to pierce his heart and a glob of acid sprayed on him.

He flashed back and eyed the two demons solemnly.

”Odd.”

These creatures didn’t just have powerful abilities; their physical bodies had been enhanced to an absurd degree. Every strike that should have been fatal was being neutralized.

”I suppose I’ll have to dismantle you first.”

Organization... troublesome indeed.

The two demons attacked simultaneously. Cassian faced the two powerful Stigma-enhanced demons.

Meanwhile, Vanessa had already retreated behind the main formation.

Victor noticed her movement.

Why isn’t she fighting?

There was something strange about her behavior. But Victor didn’t pursue. He had more interesting things to observe. His finished products.

As the most successful subjects who were bestowed [Stigma] by him, there was no better experimental field than this battlefield for them to show their powers.

He also wanted to observe them and gather some new data.

But just then, as his guard relaxed a little...

His instincts screamed.

Victor’s pupils contracted.

A cold flash passed beside his face.

Slash...

Blood sprayed, and a thin gash opened across his neck.
