The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 622- Royal Class, Sacred Tier- Gorgon Snake

Delicia blinked when she noticed it.

The wooden sword she held had endured dozens of clashes today, but the damage was clearly greater than it should have been.

Vangeance scratched his head and gestured with his hand as if describing a mismatch.

”Your body, your strength, your stats... they’re far stronger than your current level suggests. But your sword style is built around soft, flowing movements. Your technique uses grace and efficiency to deal quick damage.”

He then looked at his own battered wooden sword and commented.

”When our blades clashed earlier, the force that pushed me back wasn’t technique. It was your raw strength.”

Delicia listened in silence.

”With that kind of power, you should be fighting in a way that fully uses it.”

For a brief moment, Vangeance’s mind drifted to an image: Delicia swinging a heavy weapon, a broadsword, an axe, or even a war hammer.

If someone with her strength wielded such a thing, he knew the destructive power would be terrifying.

Of course, he did not tell her to change her weapon out loud; that would have been tactless. He simply spoke from experience, describing how her attacks had felt against him.

”Anyway, like I said. Take it with a grain of salt. I might be wrong.”

With that, Vangeance walked out of the ring, leaving Delicia alone to ponder.

She looked down at the cracked wooden sword in her hand, then at his retreating back. Those words had been casual, almost offhand. But to Delicia, they struck a chord.

Truth be told, even she had felt something similar for a while now.

Ever since she had been healed and could fight again, that strange feeling had only grown stronger when she reached Level 6.

Her body had become stronger. Much stronger.

Yet when she fought, it sometimes felt like she could not unleash her full strength. Like she was limiting herself.

Her movements occasionally felt slightly... out of place.

But despite that feeling, she had never once considered changing her weapon. There were two reasons for that.

First, she had real talent for swordsmanship.

Second, she had been using a sword since her days in the Silver Shields. The blade had become a natural extension of her body.

Yet now, after hearing Vangeance say the exact words that had been circling in her mind, Delicia found herself deliberately questioning her choice.

That being said, if the goal was to better utilize her strength, she did not have to necessarily abandon the way of the sword entirely.

There were other types of swords. A claymore, for example. A massive, two handed blade that relied on raw power rather than finesse, might suit her strength far better.

Speaking of heavy weapons, another type appeared in her head. A hammer.

The enormous weapon that currently sat in a small crater on the training field had once called to her.

At that time, unable to understand what it was saying, she had been deemed unworthy of wielding it.

But what about now?

Delicia’s gaze unconsciously drifted toward the far corner of the field, where that weapon rested.

Could I lift it now...?

Just as that thought fully formed, Reinhardt’s calm voice echoed across the training ground, pulling her back from her reverie.

”Attention! Now that everyone is here, let’s move on to the next part of the training. I’m sure you all have grown and learned a lot from the recent journey. Now is the time to put all of that effort into practice.”

Saying that, he looked over all the gathered knights.

”Three months... It has been over three months since you all started learning the [Divine Beast Summoning]. How is progress going?”

Several knights exchanged glances. Some looked confident; others looked troubled.

Reinhardt nodded slightly. Their expressions told him everything he needed to know.

”The [Divine Beast Summoning] skill is not a simple ability. It is a contract between you and a beast. Because of that, many complications can arise.”

He began walking slowly among them.

”For example, you might have acquired the two fundamental skills for the summoning, but just can’t get the actual skill right. Or you might be unable to connect with your Divine Beast at all.”

As he said that, his eyes shifted toward Silvia.

”There are also complications where a Divine Beast refuses to listen to its master. I’m sure some of you have faced one of those problems, and because of it, your progress has slowed. However, don’t worry. Getting stuck at a problem is only natural. Today, I’ll help some of you.”

He ordered Silvia to step forward, then explained the problem she was facing with [Divine Beast Summoning] in front of everyone.

”Silvia’s case is a good example. The fact that her Divine Beast is no longer answering her calls means only one thing: the beast is powerful enough to reject her summons.”

Everyone, except Vangeance, looked at Silvia in shock.

The fact that she had successfully summoned the beast once meant she had already mastered the core of the skill.

Hearing that even she faced a wall raised everyone’s attention. Especially the natural talents like Zerina, Gwen, Bob, and the others, who felt a sudden surge of urgency.

Reinhardt continued.

”The reason something like this happened is simple. The beast does not yet recognize Silvia as its master.”

The latter listened calmly, though her eyes sharpened slightly.

”There are two solutions for this. The first is the safest one, and that is to wait. The beast cannot reject your summons forever. Sooner or later, it will have to answer. However, this kind of solution does not always guarantee a result.”

”What is the other method?” Silvia asked.

As an exceptionally gifted knight, she had pride in her accomplishments. Since birth, she had excelled at everything her peers struggled with on their first try.

Even with [Divine Beast Summoning], she was far ahead of everyone else. She was not going to let a single problem stall her.

Reinhardt stared straight at her and told her the second option.

”The other solution is the most direct and dangerous one. However, if successful, it guarantees a result. That is... You must defeat the beast and force the contract.”

Defeat the Divine Beast?

Everyone stared at Reinhardt with a mix of disbelief and awe.

Not caring about their reactions, he bent down and began drawing with a twig on the ground. Soon, a complex formation filled with circles and runes appeared beneath his feet.

It was the Affinity Resonance Array, the same formation he had shown them earlier when revealing which Divine Beast they had affinity with.

But this time, he did not activate it himself. Instead, he gestured for Silvia to step inside it.

”You remember how you activated it last time, correct?”

”Yes, by using Soul Synchronization and resonating with the surrounding mana.”

”Correct. But this time, we are not summoning a phantom. We are summoning the real thing itself. To forcibly summon a beast, we need a catalyst.”

Saying that, Reinhardt ransacked the large bag Silvia had brought and produced a single, shimmering scale from inside it.

”This will work. The scale of the Earth Tycoon you defeated. As a serpent‑type beast, it shares a distant origin with the Gorgon Snake.”

Reinhardt handed the scale to Silvia.

”Use it... and force the summon.”

Silvia nodded, her expression hardening with determination. She began preparing the ritual while Reinhardt instructed the others to move back and open space.

He also ordered the Holy Knights to erect protective barriers so that, whatever happened next, it would not spiral out of control.

As someone who could summon beasts of every tier, Reinhardt knew exactly how dangerous the Gorgon Snake was. It belonged to the Sacred Tier, and among serpent type beasts, it was considered a royal‑class existence: ancient, powerful, and extremely proud.

If such an entity were summoned forcefully, it would almost certainly be enraged.

Following his instructions, Silvia activated the Affinity Resonance Array.

Mana gathered and spiraled down into the formation. The scale in her hand began to glow faintly.

Her soul resonated with the array, and soon the runes ignited with light.

Thick white mist burst out everywhere, swallowing the entire training ground in an instant.

The scale in Silvia’s hand dissolved into tiny clusters of mana, which vanished into the mist.

The fog spread rapidly, reducing visibility to almost nothing. Knights could barely make out faint silhouettes around them.

The mist also seemed to press on their senses, threatening to confuse and disorient.

The higher‑ranking knights could resist the effect to some degree, but the squires and new recruits were not so fortunate.

On Reinhardt’s command, they were ordered to retreat to the perimeter of the training ground.

Inside the mist, in the area where the array lay, something massive began to form.

A long, coiling shadow emerged from the fog.

Through the swirling white veil, a huge, pale pink scaled form faintly appeared. Its frame decked in shimmering light‑pink scales, its body stretching the entire length of the summoning circle and beyond.
