The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 469: Chapter 469- Revelation

Rolan, who was tightly clenching his fists, recalled the words he heard from Vangeance after tasting defeat at the hands of the other in one of the training spars.

”Since you are in such a hurry to master the state, I’ll let you in on a personal secret. Listen carefully. The shortcut to achieving the transcendent state is to face death right in the eye. It is during moments of crisis that a human’s latent potential surfaces. You will be amazed at what a human is capable of when the matter comes down to his life and death.”

At that moment, he had dismissed the knight’s words as a shortcut to seeking death. However, right now, seeing Kevin face his fear and stand before death as he powered up, he couldn’t help but realise how much profundity there was in Vangeance’s words.

All of the scenes transpired within a short few seconds, from the disappearance of the Queen to Kevin’s transformation and the squad’s reaction.

The Cerberus’s claw, filled with annihilation like power, fell down. At the same time, Kevin raised his sword up, determined to block the attack. However, as fate would have it, this time it was not his place to shine.

Before the Cerberus’s claw fell and Kevin could finish his transformation, the ceiling came crashing down.

KRRRRAAASHHH...

Before anyone could react, stone and steel collapsed like thunder. A massive chunk of debris smashed down onto the Cerberus’s back, pinning the legendary monster under a mountain of rubble.

BOOMMM!!

Dust billowed, and the entire hall shook intensely. And then, from the breach in the ceiling, a familiar figure dropped down with the momentum of a falling meteor.

What now? Today was just a series of one strange event after another.

All the squires strained their eyes at the debris. A figure could be seen standing on top of the mountain-like rubble. The figure’s cape billowed with the wind, their short golden hair looked like it was made of molten gold, and their aura was like a divine storm, sharp and rejuvenating.

More importantly, the moment this figure appeared, it gave others the assurance that no matter what problem they were facing, it would be resolved in a couple of seconds.

All because... he was here!!

Who else could this figure, who inspired hope in despair and was like a beacon of light, be other than Reinhardt?

”I hope I am not too late.” He landed directly atop the collapsed debris, squashing whatever was left of the S lass legendary mutt beneath it.

”Miss me?” Flashing a grin, he glanced at the squires of his order.

”Commander!!” All of them collectively cried out. Hopes and excitement surfaced in their eyes now that he was back.

In truth, they were truly against a wall; however, with his arrival now, the wall seemed like it was made of mud.

”You all have done well, now leave everything to me.” Saying that, Reinhardt cast a wide area [Radiant Renewal], healing everyone present in the hall with the falling dandelions.

Once the squad were completely healed, they all crowded around him, bombarding him with questions as to where he went and why he appeared by breaking the ceiling.

”I’ll tell you later on. However, right now, we have a more pressing situation.”

Saying that, his eyes turned towards the black pike, or rather the needle. He took a step and immediately blinked in front of it.

As he possessed the [Eyes of Divine Clarity], Reinhardt already knew what needed to be done. He quickly changed the direction the needle was pointing at from north to south. South, because that was where the powerful knights were.

Now that the needle was disturbed, the force acting on everyone’s body, slowly draining their power, disappeared. It was the same for the monsters that were spawning all around the capital. They disintegrated into black smoke.

”Now then, can anyone tell me what’s going on here?”

The high ranking demon was smashed into bloody pulp, and so was the Cerberus that had been threatening the squires. He resolved everything as soon as he appeared.

The squires nodded and gave him a quick recap of what occurred right after he left. By the time they were done, the other squires in the hall who had been incapacitated and rendered unconscious by the Cerberus earlier also came back to their senses.

Of course, they were completely healed.

”I see, so all that happened, huh? You all did a great job coming all the way here.”

”Commander, what happened to the high ranking knights?”

”Oh, them? They’re fine. This kind of thing won’t slow those monsters down. They’re on a lower floor. They’ll beat it into submission eventually.”

The squires blinked. ”Beat... the floor?”

Reinhardt didn’t bother clarifying. His focus shifted to the motionless woman next to Karina. He approached her quietly, gently lifted her chin, and removed her veil.

The next second, a beautiful face came into view. Just as he thought, the face that was hidden under the veil was none other than Diana’s, the princess of the Kingdom of Aetherion. Her beauty was unchanged, soft and delicate; she was the very definition of elegance and purity.

However, right now that princess didn’t seem to be her usual self. Her eyes... they were devoid of life. There was no spark, no fear, no will. Her presence was emptier than that of a corpse.

No, it would be more accurate to say that she was a doll. A marionette whose strings were not her own.

Reinhardt’s jaw tightened. Clearly, Diana was being manipulated. He knew that ever since he had activated [Eyes of Divine Clarity] back in the Underground Vault when sealing the Abyssal Compass.

However, at that moment, he didn’t have a clear picture, nor did he get to see who was behind it all. However, right now, he had the chance.

And so, while looking at the doll like Diana, he activated [Eyes of Divine Clarity] once again.
