King of the Wilderness

Chapter 387: Chapter 227: The Polar Bear’s Ice Fishing

Eventually, the pot was filled with a pot of clear, water-like golden liquid porcupine oil, and floating in the oil were ”oil residues” that had turned golden and crispy.

”Alright, we’ve got the two most important products.” He said to the camera, scooping up a spoonful of the boiling oil with a wooden spoon, the golden oil shimmering in the firelight.

”This is pure, high-energy porcupine oil. Once it cools, it will solidify into a creamy white, fine solid. Whether used for cooking or consumed directly in emergencies, it’s a top source of energy.”

He then scooped up a few pieces of golden, crispy oil residue: ”And these are the by-products of the refining process, the oil residues. They are concentrated essences of fat and protein, excellent snacks and rapid energy replenishment.”

Then he carefully filtered out the oil residues with a simple funnel made of birch bark, pouring the hot porcupine oil into several birch bark boxes he had prepared beforehand, waiting for them to solidify.

After finishing all this, he fished out a small handful of still steaming oil residues from the pot, sprinkled a few grains of coarse salt, blew on it, and sent it into his mouth.

”Crunch—”

Extreme crispness, accompanied by a crackling sound, burst open in the mouth. Immediately, a rich, scorching oil mixed with smoky and wild meat flavors exploded on his taste buds.

This is a sinful yet irresistible ultimate delicacy of fat.

”Fantastic.” He said with satisfaction, ”This is what I need, the purest calories.”

After refining the oil, the aroma in the shelter reached its peak. December, who had been awake and curiously observing from the side for a long time, naturally couldn’t resist this domineering scent.

It paced anxiously at Lin Yu’an’s feet, making yearning whimpers in its throat, trying to get a share from this giant two-legged creature.

Looking at its little greedy cat-like appearance, a well-thought-out decision formed in Lin Yu’an’s mind.

He squatted down, looked into December’s eyes, and said, ”Little guy, you should be almost three months old. In the wild, cubs at this age start trying to tear and eat some solid food under the guidance of their mothers.”

”Your body also needs to start adapting to other food sources besides milk. This is crucial for your intestinal development and future weaning.”

He decided to attempt the first solid food supplementation for December, also known as ”starting a meat diet.”

But he didn’t immediately give it the oil residues, he had to first use games to further stimulate its interest in solid food and processing ability.

Lin Yu’an first took out the processed snowshoe rabbit skin, which he had scraped clean of inner fat, now a tough rawhide with dense white fur.

He threw this skin in front of December, and December was immediately attracted by the fresh-smelling rabbit skin. It curiously approached, sniffed with its nose, then tentatively reached out a paw and patted it.

After confirming the rabbit skin was not dangerous, the hunting instincts hidden deep in its genes were completely triggered!

It pounced, opened its little mouth, and with sharp baby teeth that had not yet fully grown, bit down hard on a corner of the rabbit skin. Then, it began to violently shake its little head side to side!

”Yes, just like that!” Lin Yu’an said encouragingly from the side, while professionally explaining to the camera.

”This is the core hunting action of all carnivores, ’death shake!’ By generating centrifugal force through this intense shaking to tear the muscles of small prey and break their necks!”

December seemed to understand his encouragement, shaking more vigorously. Its little body burst with incredible power, swinging the not-so-light rabbit skin with a ”whoosh-whoosh” sound.

After playing for a while, it switched methods, using its two front paws to press the rabbit skin tightly, then arching its body, using its two hind legs to kick fiercely at the center of the rabbit skin like a rabbit.

”Hind leg kicking is a technique used by both felines and bears to rip open the bellies of larger prey, attacking the soft organs. Well done, December!”

This isn’t just play, Lin Yu’an is using these tools to guide and reinforce December’s innate killer techniques that it will rely on for survival in the future.

After December had ”tortured” the rabbit skin enough and consumed a lot of energy, Lin Yu’an took the rabbit skin away, then picked out a piece of golden oil residue.

”Alright, training is over, now it’s reward time.”

December’s attention was immediately drawn to the little thing emitting a rich roasted aroma. Its little nose sniffed the air forcefully, its shiny black eyes filled with curiosity and longing, even subconsciously licking its lips.

Lin Yu’an crouched down, placed the piece of golden oil residue in his palm, and slowly handed it to December.

”Come, try this, the real good stuff.”

December cautiously approached, first sticking out its small, pink tongue to tentatively lick the piece of oil residue.

A flavor completely different from milk exploded on its taste buds instantly! It was the perfect combination of the roasted aroma of fat, the deliciousness of protein, and the wild meat taste!

Its eyes widened abruptly, as if its entire little bear world was lit up by this sudden delicacy!
