King of the Wilderness

Chapter 378: Chapter 224: The Oppressive Aura of the Dark Forest (Part 2)

A pure white beam of light focused through a TIR lens instantly illuminated the operation area before him, revealing every detail with clarity.

So much so that the surroundings underwent a change in quality; the blood on the snow, which previously seemed dull and gray, now shone bright red with a glossy sheen under the light.

Even the tiny ice crystals on the snow shimmered like diamonds under this glow.

Outside this artificial daylight, the darkness of the forest appeared even more profound.

The trees around him became various silhouettes beyond the beam, like silent spectators gathering from all directions, creating a strong sense of oppression.

Lin Yu’an’s world seemed to have been condensed into an isolated stage by this beam of light!

He paid no attention to this and continued his actions, still fast, precise, and steady, without any unnecessary hesitation or flourishes.

Soon, from the sternum to the pelvis, a clean and neat incision, thirty centimeters long, was perfectly opened.

The muscle layer slightly folded to the sides, revealing the glossy white abdominal membrane underneath.

He carefully placed the Hunting Knife on a clean piece of birch bark beside him, then took a pair of nitrile gloves from his pocket and put them on.

After preparing, he tore open the layer of abdominal membrane with his fingers, and his hands unhesitatingly plunged into the warm abdominal cavity.

A pungent scent, almost tangible, wrapped around him instantly, mixed with the metallic smell of fresh blood, the slightly acidic smell of fermented grass in the stomach, and the unique rank odor of the organs themselves.

For an average person, this smell would be nauseating, but for Lin Yu’an, it was the smell of life, the smell of calories and hope.

His fingers expertly navigated the warm and slippery abdominal cavity, like an experienced surgeon.

Avoiding the large stomach and tangled intestines, relying on his rich anatomical knowledge and countless experiences, he accurately located the liver.

It was a deep red, smooth and delicate organ with a firm and elastic texture.

This contained an abundance of Vitamin A, crucial for vision, iron Element necessary for synthesizing hemoglobin, and energy stored in the form of glycogen.

”In the wilderness, animal liver is a natural ’multivitamin tablet’ for treating snow blindness and replenishing trace Elements,” he explained to the camera.

He skillfully separated the membranes and small blood vessels connecting to the liver with his fingers, using the Hunting Knife to cleanly dissect it from the surrounding tissues.

A porcupine liver, estimated to weigh four to five hundred grams, was carefully lifted out and placed on the birch bark beside him.

Under the headlamp, it displayed a gemstone-like dark red hue. For an animal weighing over ten kilograms, this size was astonishing.

Next, he began to search for his true ”gold,” all the visceral fat within the abdominal cavity.

”The liver provides vitamins and trace Elements, but the real energy source is this,” he raised his voice slightly to the camera.

”The visceral fat within its abdominal cavity, primarily these two large chunks of kidney fat, is the easiest part to access.”

”Then, there’s this beautiful lace-like fat covering the intestines.”

He gently shifted the massive gastrointestinal system aside, handling it with equal care and caution to avoid any damage.

Instantly, a field of pure white appeared before him; just as he described, two solid white fat masses enveloped the kidney-shaped kidneys, attached to the rear wall of the abdominal cavity.

On the surface of the intestines, a relatively thinner, lace-like beautiful fatty tissue was spread.

Under the stark white beam of the headlamp, this pure white fat formed a striking contrast with the dark red viscera around it.

Like treasure hidden in the depths of a treasure chest, it exuded a deadly allure. Lin Yu’an’s eyes gleamed with an irrepressible delight.

His actions were decisive and efficient, fully demonstrating value prioritization under time pressure.

He ignored the scattered small pieces of fat attached to the mesentery, using his gloved fingers to first tear down the largest bulk kidney fat.

Then, seizing a corner of the lace fat, he swiftly peeled it off the intestinal surface, almost with rough efficiency.

He found the heart and two kidneys enveloped by the kidney fat and extracted them one by one.

Finally, he gathered these core trophies — the intact liver, heart, two kidneys, and all the visceral fat he could swiftly collect, totaling an estimated weight close to two kilograms.

Then, he wrapped them tightly with birch bark and placed them into his backpack.

He looked up at the camera, which was still faithfully recording, exhaled a dense cloud of white fog, and said with a hint of relieved ease, ”Task completed.”

”No matter what happens next, even if I encounter a wolf pack and am forced to abandon the rest of the porcupine carcass.”

”As long as I manage to bring this package back, today’s action is already a strategic success.”

After finishing all this, he took out the remaining stomach, intestines, spleen, and other organs he didn’t plan to take with him and placed them at a downwind location, dozens of meters away from the carcass.

This was both to lighten the load for easier dragging later and to act as a ”drainage” for other carnivores in the forest.
