King of the Wilderness

Many of them have extensive experience in freshwater ice fishing, but faced with the constantly moving sea ice, all experience becomes null.

”Lastly, and most importantly, the beasts.” Mark’s tone reached the pinnacle of seriousness.

”You will be dropped into this uninhabited area, which is the territory of black bears. Before they enter hibernation, they become exceedingly aggressive and frantically search for food.”

”More importantly, further north along the coastline is the range of polar bear activities.”

”Although your drop point was carefully selected to ensure a certain distance from the known core activity areas of polar bears.”

”But we cannot rule out the possibility of hungry black bears moving south along the coastline in search of food!”

”Any close encounter with them could be fatal! The bear spray and bear deterrent signal gun provided by the show must be carried at all times!”

Mark’s expression became serious: ”I must emphasize again, there are polar bears here; they are true top predators! They are larger than grizzlies!”

”They are not afraid of humans, and may even approach actively. They are not as easy to deal with as black bears, and they are also protected animals.”

”So the bear spray and signal gun we provide is your last lifeline, don’t hesitate. Encountering them, this is not a fair fight, survival is the priority.”

After Mark finished speaking, he glanced at Lin Yu’an, as if this message was especially directed at him. He might truly be worried that Lin Yu’an might actually confront a polar bear...

Extremely cold temperatures, fierce winds, scarce terrestrial prey, the soon-to-freeze fjords, and two powerful top predators...

The atmosphere in the conference room became heavier than the cold wind outside. This is no longer a simple survival game, but a true battle against the harsh winter of the North Atlantic!

”Alright, everyone,” Mark clapped his hands, breaking the silence.

”Now, onto the final segment—gear inspection. Please lay out the 10 items each of you have chosen on the table.”

Two staff members wearing show judge uniforms and serious expressions walked in.

They wore white gloves, carried professional measuring tape, electronic scales, and a thick rulebook, clearly the examiners for this inspection.

The contestants returned to their rooms one by one to fetch their gear and laid them out on the table before themselves.

For a moment, the long table was filled with various axes, saws, knives, and survival tools, akin to a small weapons exhibition.

The inspection started with Kelly, who chose a very stable set of equipment, including a medium ax, a folding saw, a sleeping bag, a pot, a fire striker, a fishing set, tripwire, waterproof cloth, parachute cord, and a Damascus hunting knife.

The staff meticulously proceeded with the inspection, using calipers to measure the length of Kelly’s ropes and the dimensions of the waterproof cloth.

”Kelly Russell, 10 items, all comply with regulations.” The inspector announced in a business-like tone.

Next was Vonia, whose choice was filled with a primitive craftsmanship flair. Besides the usual ax, saw, knife, pot, fire starter, and sleeping bag, she chose a roll of tripwire, a sewing needle and thread kit, a large whetstone, and a rare wood chisels set.

”Beautiful wood chisels; they allow for the creation of the most precise mortise and tenon structures.” Retired special forces soldier Amos glanced over and nodded approvingly.

Vonia just smiled and nodded, without saying much.

When it was Colton and Michelle’s turn, their choices were full of offense.

Both without exception chose recurved bow and arrow sets, clearly focusing their core strategy on proactive hunting.

Finally, it was Lin Yu’an’s turn.

As he laid his 10 items on the table one by one, nearly everyone’s attention was drawn to him; they were eager to see how the king on the throne made his choices.

The inspector first picked up his ax.

The inspector weighed it with the electronic scale, the ax totaling 1.18 kilograms, perfectly within the rules.

Next was his saw.

”Agawa Canyon’s Boreal24. Triangular frame structure, provides maximum blade tension, cutting efficiency is very high. Smart choice.”

This time Michelle spoke up, her eye for tools equally sharp.

Then, there was the handcrafted hunting knife personally forged by Old George.

When Lin Yu’an drew it from its sheath, everyone was captivated by the Damascus pattern flowing like water waves and the warm deer horn birch wood handle.

”Wow!” The young Colton couldn’t help but exclaim.

”This knife is so cool! Which master made it?”

”A friend gave it.” Lin Yu’an simply replied calmly.

The inspector carefully measured the blade length with calipers, which was within the regulation range of 30 centimeters.

Next came the sleeping bag, metal pot, magnesium rod, tripwire, waterproof cloth, and fishing set, all top-tier brands meeting the rules, not causing much stir.

Lastly, Lin Yu’an took out his tenth item, the Samick Sage traditional recurved bow and arrow set.

The inspector meticulously checked the bow body, bowstring, and counted nine hunting arrows with replaceable G5 hunting arrowheads, confirming everything complied with the rules.

”Lin Yu’an, 10 items, all in accordance with regulations.”

Thus, the equipment of all the legendary contestants was displayed before everyone.

Although each person’s choices were similar, the subtle differences already foretold the vastly different survival strategies they will employ in the future.
