Chapter 2772: Chapter 2772: Lee Family Members Had Been Arrested

Albert Lee slowly, heavily shook his head, his face pale. ”I don’t know...”

Panic quietly spread like wildfire throughout the corridors of the mansion.

One younger, hot-headed Lee Family member suddenly made a desperate, reckless decision. The moment the tactical officers’ attention shifted toward securing the side rooms, he quietly slipped out through a servant’s corridor, sprinting at top speed toward the expansive rear gardens, hoping to scale the boundary wall and disappear into the woods.

Unfortunately for him, the entire perimeter had been locked down with military precision. The exact microsecond his feet crossed the threshold of the back patio...

BANG!

A deafening, high-calibre sniper warning shot struck the stone pavers less than a meter in front of his boots, blasting marble shrapnel into the air.

The young man let out a blood-curdling scream of pure horror, his legs collapsing under him as he hit the ground. His entire body shook violently as a dark, wet stain instantly spread across the front of his expensive trousers. He had completely wet himself in sheer terror.

Several armed tactical officers surged out from the bushes, pinned him to the lawn, snapped heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists, and hauled him backwards toward the central gathering point alongside the rest of the silent, terrified Lee Family members.

Every core member of the Lee Family had been systematically rounded up and arrested overnight. One after another, they were transported under heavy, armed escort to the central detention facility before being methodically separated into distinct holding cells according to their security classifications and family standing.

After spending the remainder of the night trapped inside the cold, dimly lit cells, the accustomed-to-luxury Lee Family members gradually became frantic and restless. Some continuously hammered their fists against the reinforced bars, demanding to be released immediately. Some screamed at the top of their lungs that the state authorities had zero legal right to imprison people of their stature. Others repeatedly demanded to see their corporate legal teams without a single second of delay.

”You can’t keep us locked up in a place like this!”

”We are from the Lee Family!”

”Where is your commanding officer?!”

”I demand an immediate explanation for this outrage!”

”Do you even have a single shred of actual evidence to hold us here?”

The stark concrete corridors of the detention block echoed continuously with their furious, unyielding protests.

One of the senior guards stationed outside the cells merely smirked when he heard their hysterical complaints. He did not even bother wasting his breath to respond. Instead, he simply surveyed every single one of them with cold, unconcealed disgust.

Every officer who had participated in the previous night’s tactical operation already knew with absolute certainty what the Lee Family had been orchestrating behind closed doors. After personally witnessing dozens of terrified, crying children being pulled from those dark wooden crates inside the warehouses, not a single officer felt even the slightest trace of sympathy toward the elite socialites now shouting behind bars.

Compared to what those helpless, innocent victims had suffered inside the shipping containers, a cold, uncomfortable night in a detention cell was far too lenient a punishment.

Unfortunately for Angelica Lee, she had not been present at the Lee Family’s ancestral estate during the midnight tactical raid. Instead, she had spent the evening staying alone at her high-end luxury apartment in the heart of the city’s financial district.

However, that geographical distance made absolutely zero difference to the dragnet. The authorities had already fully anticipated that not every core member would be sleeping at the ancestral estate.

Before launching the main strike, the joint command centre had already divided the tactical arrest force into several independent, highly specialised capture teams. Each team was assigned to apprehend specific Lee Family targets at their private penthouses, suburban villas, corporate offices, or secondary residences. Not a single soul was going to be overlooked.

Late into the night, one of those specialised arrest teams quietly arrived on the high-security residential floor outside Angelica Lee’s private apartment. At that exact moment, Angelica Lee had just finished reviewing several confidential corporate documents and was preparing to turn in for the night.

Knock.

Knock.

Knock.

The sharp, heavy sound echoing through her foyer made her instantly stop in her tracks. She frowned slightly. Normally, whenever an unannounced guest came looking for her, the building’s concierges and private security desk would always contact her personal intercom first to verify her approval. Only after she personally granted permission would visitors ever be cleared to take the private elevator up to her floor. So how on earth had someone managed to reach her front door without a single word of prior notice from building security?

Feeling a deep, inexplicable sense of suspicion, Angelica Lee quietly walked toward the grand entrance, peering cautiously through the optical peephole. The moment her eyes adjusted to the image outside, her expression completely froze.

Standing directly outside her door were several heavily armed officers clad in the dark tactical gear of the People Security Bureau. Every single one of them held an assault rifle at low-ready. Some wore heavy tactical helmets and Kevlar vests, while others stood strategically posted at both ends of the private corridor, completely sealing off every possible escape route.

Angelica Lee’s pupils contracted into pinpricks. What on earth... is going on?

Before her sharp mind could process a logical explanation, the team lead knocked heavily once again, the sound booming against the reinforced wood.

Angelica Lee took a deep, steadying breath. She knew all too well that refusing to open the door would only escalate the situation into violence. If she delayed any longer, the tactical team would simply blow the hinges with breaching charges.
