Chapter 2767: Chapter 2767: Interrogation Part Two

”Where is this current batch located right now?” Yu Qi asked, her voice dropping.

”It is currently secured at the Newark West Warehouse complex.” Richard Lee said.

”Which specific warehouse? There are dozens of facilities there.” Yu Qi noted sharply.

”Warehouses Number Thirteen and Fourteen.” Richard Lee answered.

”When are you planning to send the batch to the organisation?” Yu Qi asked.

”Tomorrow night at the earliest. We still need to conceal the test subjects inside the commercial export cargo before loading the shipping containers.” Richard Lee answered.

”Oh... I almost forgot to ask something.” Yu Qi pretended to pause thoughtfully. ”How exactly do you select and gather your test subjects?”

”Randomly.” Richard Lee continued speaking in the exact same calm, clinical tone. ”Sometimes we procure them directly from orphanages.”

”Explain how.” Yu Qi frowned, disgust rising in her chest.

”We pay certain straw couples a heavy fee to officially adopt children from local orphanages. After completing the legal adoption procedures, they hand the children directly over to our operatives.” A terrifying, subtle smile slowly appeared on Richard Lee’s face. ”You know what’s truly funny?”

”What?” Yu Qi asked, her eyes narrowing.

”Most of those orphanages actually belong to the Lee Family’s charitable foundations.” Richard Lee’s smile widened. ”We collect government subsidies for operating the orphanages, and then we turn around and earn even more money by selling the children off.”

Yu Qi’s fingers slowly clenched into tight, white-knuckled fists at her side.

Richard Lee continued speaking, entirely oblivious to the lethal aura radiating off his captors.

”We also purchase young people from impoverished, remote villages. Those places are quite efficient for this line of business. Families there usually value sons far more because sons carry the family name. Therefore, daughters are much easier to buy for cheap.” Richard Lee paused briefly before adding with a touch of pride, ”Personally, I think that patriarchal tradition is ridiculous. My own daughter, Angelica, is far more capable than most sons. She truly deserves to inherit the entire Lee Family.”

”Is there any other source for your subjects?” Yu Qi asked, suppressing her rage.

”Of course.” Richard Lee nodded smoothly. ”We also recruit volunteers directly from regional hospitals.”

”Volunteers?” Yu Qi’s voice turned frightfully cold.

”We inform desperate, terminally ill patients that we have newly developed experimental medicine that requires clinical testing. If they volunteer, they are promised free treatment and financial compensation for their families.” Richard Lee chuckled lightly, the sound sickening in the quiet room. ”They happily sign the waivers and become our test subjects. And the best part? They even pay us for the preliminary treatment fees. What a remarkably profitable business model.”

”You really are rotten to the core.” Yu Qi clicked her tongue in sheer disgust.

”What do you know?” Richard Lee replied arrogantly. ”As I stated earlier, everything in this world can be turned into a business.”

”Well... thank you for answering all of my questions so honestly.” Yu Qi slowly smiled beneath her rabbit mask, her tone shifting.

”You... You... What exactly are you going to do with me now?” Richard Lee’s pupils trembled slightly as a flicker of awareness returned to his eyes.

Yu Qi glanced at Long Hui before answering calmly, ”Nothing.”

”Nothing? Then why on earth did you ask all of those detailed questions?” Richard Lee was completely stunned.

”They were not meant for my ears alone.” Yu Qi’s smile widened beneath her mask. ”They were meant for everyone else.”

”What... What do you mean by that?!” Richard Lee’s face instantly turned ash-pale.

”You will understand soon enough... Assuming you manage to survive what’s coming.” Yu Qi said smoothly.

Richard Lee’s heart sank into his chest. For the very first time since regaining consciousness in this abandoned facility, genuine, sheer terror filled his heart. He tried frantically listening to his surroundings, hoping to identify any distant sounds to pinpoint his location. However, he heard absolute, unbroken silence. Unknown to him, Yu Qi had already erected a powerful spiritual sound barrier around the entire structure.

Yu Qi and Long Hui slowly turned and walked away from the paralysed man. They did not leave the warehouse complex immediately. Instead, they stepped into an adjacent, empty room down the hall. Yu Qi retrieved her specialised laptop from her space, Sere.

The entire interrogation had been recorded in pristine, crystal-clear high definition from beginning to end without Richard Lee ever realising it.

Every horrific confession...

Every secret code word...

Every illicit shipping route...

Every cryptocurrency payment channel...

Every registered shell company...

Every single sentence uttered by his own mouth would become the ultimate, indisputable weapon to annihilate the Lee Family dynasty.

The exact moment Yu Qi had discovered those helpless children locked inside the shipping crates earlier, she had already resolved that the Lee Family would never recover from this monstrosity. The previous scandal involving the underground laboratory had eventually been swept under the rug by powerful interests.

This time, she would blow the lid off everything. However, she intended to do it with surgical precision. First, she would anonymously deliver the unedited recording of Richard Lee’s confession to the leadership of the Smith Family, the Ricchi Family, and the Fang Family, giving them an immediate window to raid the docks and save those innocent children and people.

If those three Great Families chose to turn a blind eye and protect the Lee Family out of political convenience, she would broadcast every single second of the raw footage to the entire world simultaneously. Let everyone make their own judgement.

At the same time, she and Long Hui would personally infiltrate Warehouses Number Thirteen and Fourteen to rescue every single trapped child before any retaliatory moves could be made.
