World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch

After taking care of Thomas and the others, Evan first walked toward Lia.

”Are you alright?” He asked in a soft voice upon seeing her somewhat pale face.

”I am fine, Big Brother,” Lia said with a smile, although it was a little forced.

After all, no normal young child could remain completely calm after experiencing such a situation.

Evan nodded and gently patted her head.

”They were just some petty thieves. You should go back and sleep. We will leave for Sky Pearl City early tomorrow morning.”

Hearing about Sky Pearl City, where her parents were, Lia calmed down a little and nodded.

She glanced at the stiff-looking Elena standing at the side before returning to the tent.

Once Lia was inside, Evan’s eyes glowed slightly.

The wind around the tent moved, and a green wind barrier silently formed around it, blocking all unnecessary sounds from the outside.

”Now...” Evan finally looked at Elena, who was standing at the side. ”Can you explain what’s going on here?”

Elena flinched slightly upon seeing Evan looking at her and broke out in a cold sweat as the image of Evan beating Thomas and the others was still fresh in her mind.

”Umm... Boss, it was just an accident. I thought the campfire belonged to a merchant caravan. That’s why I ran here to save myself. If I had known someone was camping here alone, I wouldn’t have run here.”

Evan’s eyes twitched slightly when he heard how she addressed him, and he rubbed his eyebrow.

’She is really a muddlehead...’ He shook his head and spoke calmly.

”Call me Evan. Also, I am not asking why you brought them here. I am asking who they are.”

Elena was surprised when she heard Evan’s words and sighed in relief when she realized that he wasn’t angry at her for bringing Thomas and the others here.

She took a deep breath and removed the cloth covering her face.

As the cloth was removed, her long black hair fell behind her back, reaching all the way to her waist. She had deep green eyes and a beautiful face.

Elena looked to be around eighteen years old, though Evan was certain that she was about the same age as him and only looked older because of Evolution.

After becoming a Rank One Evolver, Evan himself looked to be around eighteen years old.

Although Elena’s face was currently pale due to her lack of mana and the exhaustion caused by running for such a long time, she was still extremely beautiful.

Evan’s expression didn’t change much when he saw her face, and he silently waited for her to explain the situation.

”Boss... I mean Evan, thank you for saving me. I am Elena...” As she spoke, she looked at Thomas and the others before shaking her head.

”As for who they really are, I actually don’t know myself. I was supposed to leave for the Capital at the end of the month to join the academy, but because I was impatient, I sneaked out of my home a few days ago and accidentally encountered these guys, who seem to want to capture me.” She paused for a moment before adding,

”Although I don’t know who they are, they are definitely not simple. Even though I sneaked out, I brought four Rank One guards and one Rank Two guard with me...”

Evan raised an eyebrow in surprise as he listened to Elena, especially after hearing that she had even brought a Rank Two Evolver with her.

Although he was surprised, he didn’t interrupt her and continued listening.

”There were ten people who attacked us earlier, and one of them was also a Rank Two Evolver. But despite being outnumbered and caught off guard, we were still able to fight against them...” At this point, Elena’s face darkened.

”But who would have thought that among the five guards I brought, one of them would betray us at the most critical moment and attack his own companions, completely destroying the formation that we were barely maintaining.”

Elena took a deep breath and continued in a low voice.

”Once the formation collapsed, my guards died one by one. In the end, in order to save me, Uncle Hans, who was my Rank Two guard used a Life-Burning Pill.” Her voice became slightly heavier.

”He successfully killed the Rank Two Evolver and six Rank One Evolvers among the enemies, allowing me to run away from there. But once the effect of the Life-Burning Pill ended, Uncle Hans’s lifespan was also consumed, and he fell as well.”

Evan sighed inwardly as he listened to her as he could already guess what had happened next.

”Because I was injured while fighting earlier, I didn’t manage to run very far before these four people caught up to me.”

Elena looked toward the extinguishing campfire and took a deep breath.

”In desperation, I could only continue running until I saw your campfire and ran toward it, thinking that there might be a merchant caravan here.” Elena took another deep breath and bowed slightly to him.

”I had no intention of harming you. I simply thought that there were merchants camping here, which is why I ran toward this place.”

Her expression became slightly awkward.

”If I had known that there was even a young child here, I wouldn’t have run here.”

Evan looked at the bowing girl before him and remained silent. He thought for a few moments before finally asking,

”What are you planning to do next? I will be honest with you. To me, you seem like a bundle of trouble.”

It wasn’t that Evan was trying to be an asshole despite knowing her situation.

But after hearing that even a Rank Two Evolver had come to capture her, he could guess that the trouble she carried wasn’t small.

If he stayed with her and more people came looking for her, even he and Lia could be put in danger.

He didn’t care about Rank One Evolvers, but a Rank Two...He knew that he wasn’t a match for one with his current strength.

Although Elena was a little muddleheaded, she wasn’t stupid and immediately understood what Evan was trying to say.

She remained silent for a moment before speaking softly.

”Can I stay here for tonight? Once the sun rises, I will leave for Sky Pearl City and contact my family.”

”You are planning to go to Sky Pearl City?” Evan raised an eyebrow.

”Yes.” Elena nodded. ”I have a way to contact my family from there.”

”Hmmm...” Evan thought for a moment and after looking at her injuries, he sighed and nodded.

”Alright. But let me make one thing clear. If a dangerous situation arises, I will prioritize my own safety and Lia’s safety over yours.”

Elena didn’t mind his words and simply bowed to him.

”Thank you for helping me.”

Evan didn’t say anything else and turned to look at Thomas and the others as a cold light flashed in his eyes.

’Let’s take care of these people.’
