Chapter 6659: The Identity of the Netherworld Master

Jie Tianran was finally the last one left in the area.

“Jie Tianran, you lost yourself for a moment there. No matter how angry you are, you shouldn’t take it out on your underling,” the old entity inside Jie Tianran’s body said.

“Elder, you underestimate me. I’m not mad at being laughed at by the world. It’s just that I’m slowly losing control over God’s Era. I fear that it’ll fall into Chu Feng’s hands at this rate,” Jie Tianran said.

“It’s fine. Haven’t I said that I’ll snatch it over if someone else claims it?” the old entity said.

Big words! You were present earlier, but you didn’t change a thing at all. I might have embarrassed myself earlier, but it’s the same for you as well. It’s just that the world doesn’t know about it because I’m shouldering the consequences for you.

Jie Tianran was tempted to say those words aloud, but he held himself back at the last moment. “I’m glad to have your backing, elder, but I also can’t sit still and do nothing. I believe it’s time to make some sacrifices to secure God’s Era.”

He ordered all members to return to the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion. He was worried that the Chu Clan Alliance would lay an ambush on their teleportation formations, so he instructed his members to use their treasures instead of their teleportation formations.

After issuing the order, he also got moving, but he made his way toward the Totem Galaxy instead of the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion.

...

Soon, the rest of the world also realized that both Chu Feng’s and Jie Tianran’s consciousness had left the copper mirror to return to their bodies.

In the Ancestral Martial Starfield’s Great Chiliocosm Upper Realm, the environment was so barren that there should have been no one capable of observing God’s Era. Yet, there were two people using their means to observe it.

They were the Netherworld Sect’s Dongfang Hansong and Yun Ao.

They had traveled to the Great Chiliocosm Upper Realm under Cang Li’s order to search for the possessions of Chu Feng’s grandfather, Chu Hanxian, to verify if the latter was the Netherworld Master.

Standing on a mountain peak, shrouded in a treasure’s concealment energy, they continued observing the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s God’s Era despite knowing that Chu Feng and Jie Tianran had already returned to their bodies. They didn’t want to miss anything.

Behind the two of them was a special formation, where two energies were undergoing fusion.

One was the Netherworld Master’s aura. The other was the aura they had extracted from Chu Hanxian’s possession.

“Jie Tianran is an embarrassment. He wanted to take advantage of Chu Feng, only to end up being deceived,” Yun Ao remarked.

He was gloating despite being a Netherworld Sectmember. He had a high opinion of Chu Feng, especially after learning that Chu Feng’s grandfather could be the Netherworld Master. If Chu Feng were the Netherworld Master’s descendant, the Netherworld Sect could easily conquer the entire world of cultivation.

Weng!

The formation suddenly glowed.

Dongfang Hansong and Yun Ao immediately looked over, and the latter’s eyes widened. The Netherworld Master’s aura had impeccably fused with that of Chu Hanxian’s. Clearly, the two of them were the same person!

“It fused! Chu Feng’s grandfather is our Netherworld Master, which makes Chu Feng the Netherworld Master’s grandson! It’s not a coincidence! Chu Feng must have activated the Netherworld Embryo Spirituality Summoning Altar. That caused the sacred item to react. That’s how he was able to control the sacred item without any backlash. It all makes sense now!”

Yun Ao was so excited that he prattled on and on. He initially laughed frenziedly, but soon, he fell to his knees and began weeping.

“Hansong, there’s no need for the new faction and conservative faction to fight anymore. We have found our true master. To think that the Netherworld Master’s descendant was so close to us, not to mention so outstanding. There is hope for our Netherworld Sect. With Chu Feng’s help, we’ll surely be able to awaken the sacred item. Our Netherworld Sect can finally achieve what we have set out to do!”

The old Yun Ao cried so hard that his body trembled, and his tears fell nonstop to the ground.

“Lord Yun Ao.”

Dongfang Hansong walked up to Yun Ao and gently tapped his shoulder.

Yun Ao’s face warped in horror as he felt Dongfang Hansong violently grab his shoulder and channel his martial power into his body. His organs shattered right away, and the martial power gushed toward his soul.

Yun Ao quickly turned around and saw Dongfang Hansong staring calmly at him, but lurking beneath his composed gaze was murderous intent.

“Lord Yun Ao, Chu Feng cannot join the Netherworld Sect. No one can know that he’s the descendant of the Netherworld Master,” Dongfang Hansong said. “Only Chen Hui can become the Netherworld Master. He... should have been known as Dongfang Hui. He is my son.

“Please don’t blame me, Lord Yun Ao. I only want the best for my son. You have been looking after Chen Hui since he was still a child and are fond of him, so I’m sure you understand how I feel, right?”

He continued channeling his martial power into Yun Ao’s body even as he spoke.

Yun Ao’s body crumbled until his soul disintegrated.

Dongfang Hansong dropped to the ground with a darkened face. He was crying as well. Perhaps he was conscience-stricken for killing Yun Ao, or maybe it was just crocodile tears.

He murmured under his breath, “It’s all for the children. How can a parent not plan for their child’s future? I’m sure Lord Netherworld Master agrees as well...”

He looked at the impeccably fused bloodline powers. He stood up, walked over, kneeled before the fused bloodline powers, and kowtowed. “Lord Netherworld Master, I have let you down, but I have no choice. Please don’t blame me. Please don’t blame me...”
