Chapter 6612: A Secret Skill That Ends With One’s Death

“The intel we have received indicates that Chu Feng’s allies aren’t just a bunch of ragtags.

“The Immortal Sea Fish Clan’s Xianhai Yu’er has defeated Xiahou Jue, and to date, we still don’t know exactly how powerful she is. That makes her a huge variable.

“The Dragon Breath Clan used to be a minor clan selling beverages in the Totem Galaxy, but many Heavenly Gods suddenly appeared in their ranks, and Long Mucheng has even reached rank five Heavenly God. They have been pushing the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion out of the Ancestral Martial Galaxy.

“And these are only the powers that have appeared so far. Who knows who else is backing Chu Feng?

“Since they have gone as far as to declare war on the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion, there is little doubt that those powers will go after us if we support the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion in hunting down Chu Feng. We will suffer huge losses if so,” Cang Li voiced his worry.

“Lord Cang Li, casualties are inevitable in war. Our Netherworld Sectmembers have never feared death. This is a necessary move. We cannot spare a person who has blasphemed our sacred item,” Baili Xukong replied.

“Yes, Chu Feng deserves death, but we have to be pragmatic. He knows where our sacred item is, and he has shown that he is a person of great means. What if we corner him, and he decides to pull some trick to ruin our sacred item? Who is going to take responsibility for that?

“Baili Xukong, don’t you dare say that Chu Feng is just a mere junior. We have all suffered for having underestimated him. Who knows what other tricks he has up his sleeves?” Cang Li said.

“Lord Cang Li is right. We cannot view Chu Feng as a normal junior.”

The crowd fell into a dilemma. Despite their powerful cultivation, none of the experts here could guarantee that they could stop Chu Feng if he went after their sacred item once more.

“Lord Cang Li’s worry is not unfounded. Our priorities are clear—the sacred item comes first. For that, we can even temporarily put aside our grudge with Chu Feng. However, it’s because we need to prioritize the sacred item that we cannot remain idle here.

“We’re relying on the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion right now to activate our sacred item, so our priority should be to maintain a close relationship with them right now. If we turn our back on him right now, he may back out of our deal. That’ll be a huge setback for us,” Baili Xukong said.

“All right, stop arguing. You two make sense. This matter is of grave importance, so further discussions are required before we make a vote,” another elder from the neutral faction said.

So, the elders from the neutral faction, Baili Xukong from the new faction, and Dongfang Hansong of the conservative faction proceeded to discuss the matter at length.

The conclusion was that they needed to maintain their ties with Jie Tianran to awaken their sacred item. For that, they had no choice but to wage war on Chu Feng.

After coming to a decision, they employed a means that broadcast their message across the world of cultivation. They listed Chu Feng’s sins to justify why they were going after him. In that regard, they behaved like an orthodox sect.

Naturally, their announcement caused a stir throughout the world of cultivation.

Some thought that Chu Feng was dead meat.

The strongest power, the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion, and the entity no one dared to cross, the Netherworld Sect, had waged war on Chu Feng. No matter how talented Chu Feng was, he wouldn’t stand a chance against those two behemoths.

But some deduced that Chu Feng had powerful backing, judging by how he had survived the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s pursuit for so long and even turned the tables by declaring war against them. Some speculated that his backing was a powerhouse from the Ancient Era.

No matter what, one thing was clear. The world of cultivation was about to be thrown into chaos.

...

Both the new faction and the conservative faction had to dispatch their experts to reinforce the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion.

A group of experts had just left Baili Xukong’s palace for the Seven Realms Galaxy. Among them was Wuma Hanshuang, a rank four Heavenly God who had previously been controlled by Wen Xue.

The only ones left in the palace were Baili Xukong and Xiahou Jue.

“I disapprove,” Baili Xukong replied forcefully.

Xiahou Jue had been dispatched to hunt down Chu Feng as well, but he had a request. Before hunting down Chu Feng, he wanted to raise his cultivation by practicing the Netherworld Sect’s secret skill.

However, this secret skill was extremely dangerous. The chances of success were slim, and failure spelled death. Even if he succeeded, the backlash of using the secret skill would also result in his death.

That was why Baili Xukong turned down Xiahou Jue’s request.

“Milord, I implore you to grant my request.” Xiahou Jue kneeled to Baili Xukong.

Baili Xukong sighed before speaking gently, “Xiahou Jue, I know that you’re disheartened by your defeat to that Immortal Sea Fish Clan’s lass, but times have changed.

“We were all present when Chu Feng barged into the Undying Starfield and threatened our sacred item, whether it was you, me, Dongfang Hansong, the neutral faction’s lords, or even Jie Tianran. Yet, he still slipped past our encirclement and escaped. The juniors of the present generation cannot be viewed in the same light as before.

“So be it if you were defeated. There will be hope as long as you live and breathe. Once we activate the sacred item, no one in the world of cultivation will be a match for our Netherworld Sect.”

He might be strict on his subordinates, but he also cared about them. It was not without reason that so many experts in the new faction were loyal to him.

Wuma Hanshuang was a good example. She had returned to Baili Xukong’s side to seek punishment, knowing that she had committed an unforgivable sin against the Netherworld Sect, but after hearing her side of the story, Baili Xukong trusted and vouched for her.

Similarly, he wouldn’t allow Xiahou Jue to practice a secret skill that would lead to his death.

“Milord, I’m not doing this out of recklessness. The recent events made me realize my powerlessness, and I want to practice the secret skill not to die but to be able to contribute to the Netherworld Sect when it truly counts.”
