Chapter 6606: Wen Xue’s Motive

Deep in the Hidden Dragon Martial Sect was a peach-blossom forest. At the center of the peach blossom forest was a lake. It was a small lake, but it was so clear that one could see its bottom. Its water reflected the vibrant beauty of the peach blossom flowers.

Two women strolled by the lake. Despite their high cultivation, they moved slowly as if mortals admiring the scenery. They were the Hidden Dragon Martial Sect’s sectmaster and her disciple, Wen Xue.

“Are you planning to leave?” the sectmaster asked.

“That’s right. I don’t know when I’ll see you again. Master, are you really not going to enter the Ninth Galaxy together with me?” Wen Xue asked.

“I am the Hidden Dragon Martial Sect’s sectmaster. This is where my responsibilities lie. I have to stay here. Wen Xue, something must have happened for Chu Feng to suddenly declare war on the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion. Aren’t you going to help him?” the sectmaster asked.

She wasn’t intending to raise this topic as she wanted to respect Wen Xue’s will, but at the same time, she was worried about Chu Feng. She was unable to help Chu Feng due to her limited strength, so after much hesitation, she still decided to broach the topic.

“Master, I know you’re worried about Junior Chu Feng, but you can put your mind at ease. My junior has many tricks up his sleeve. I would have been in hot water in the Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect’s remnant if not for him,” Wen Xue replied.

The sectmaster was disappointed.

Three prodigies stood out among the Hidden Dragon Martial Sect’s juniors—Chu Feng, Zi Ling, and Wen Xue. Their talent outshone even Dugu Lingtian. They were destined for great things.

She had hoped that the three of them could stand on the same front, but she also understood that such things couldn’t be forced, so she didn’t harp on it.

“When do you intend to make a move?” the sectmaster asked.

“I returned today to bid you farewell, master. I’m prepared to head there,” Wen Xue replied.

The sectmaster frowned.

“What’s wrong, master? Do you want me to help Junior Chu Feng first before entering the Ninth Galaxy?” Wen Xue asked.

But the sectmaster shook her head and replied, “I do hope that you would help Chu Feng, but the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion is an enigmatic entity. I understand that you may have your reservations, and I respect your decision.

“From the first time I saw you, I could tell you’re destined for greater things. However, you are also unruly and unscrupulous. If left be, you could have become a monster who would resort to anything to get her way. I took you in as my disciple in hopes of leading you onto the right path. You have long surpassed me, but you still treat me with respect. I am heartened by that.”

There was a long pause before Wen Xue replied, “Master, I might be cultivating from scratch, but I retain my memories. I am not a child. I was indignant when you first took me in as your disciple, and I thought of many ways to get back at you. But I soon realized that you are doing this with my welfare at heart.

“You reminded me of my old master back when I was young. My old master was not powerful, but she was a good person, just like you. But she was killed by a villain, and that was what led me down the demonic path. You reminded me of those old times.

“I earnestly enjoyed my time with you, and I’ll never forget it. No matter how strong I become, you’ll always be my master. This is a token of my appreciation. Please accept it.”

Wen Xue kneeled to the sectmaster and presented a Cosmos Sack to her.

However, the sectmaster didn’t take the Cosmos Sack. Instead, she asked, “Wen Xue, do you mean what you said?”

“There is no falsehood in my words,” Wen Xue replied.

“If so, I won’t accept your token of appreciation. Instead, I want you to return Yaoyao[1],” the sectmaster said.

Wen Xue narrowed her eyes. “Master, you...”

“My strength is limited, but we are in the Hidden Dragon Martial Sect. You’re looking down on me if you think that you can kidnap our people without me noticing. Wen Xue, Yaoyao has been grumbling about wanting to meet Chu Feng ever since she came out of closed-door training.

“I thought that you were bringing her to meet Chu Feng, and you kept it from me because you were worried that I’d object to it. I can see now that you have other motives. If you leave Yaoyao now, I won’t pursue this matter, and we can remain master and disciple. Otherwise, don’t blame me for turning against you.”

As she spoke, the sectmaster took out her Sect Master Token.

“Master, Yaoyao is a world spirit. Junior Chu Feng already has a stronger world spirit, not to mention that Yaoyao’s father, the Asura King, and his army have already pledged allegiance to him. No matter how capable Chu Feng is, he can only gather that many resources for nurturing a world spirit. He won’t be able to prioritize Yaoyao, and that will limit her growth.

“However, things will be different if she follows me. I can bring Yaoyao into the Ninth Galaxy together with me. I’ll take the bloodlines, and she can monopolize the origin energies. She can grow at an unprecedented pace and surpass Junior Chu Feng with ease.

“By then, if Yaoyao still wants to look for Junior Chu Feng, she’ll be more than capable of helping him,” Wen Xue replied.

“What grandiose words. Are you certain that you’ll be willing to let Yaoyao go if she insists on going to Chu Feng?” the sectmaster asked.

“Of course. I’ll respect Yaoyao’s will.”

“What about now? Did Yaoyao voluntarily choose to leave with you? Let me hear it from her directly. If she says that she’s willing to leave with you, I’ll have nothing to say.”

“Master, Yaoyao is still young. She’ll know that I have her best intentions in mind when she grows up.”

The sectmaster laughed, but her voice loomed with helplessness and disappointment. “You didn’t return to the Hidden Dragon Martial Sect to visit me. You merely wanted to take Yaoyao away with you.”

1. Yaoyao is a child sealed inside a box from the Asura Graveyard. Chu Feng brought her out of the Asura Graveyard, and when her seal broke, he named her Yaoyao. ☜
