Chapter 6589: Supporting Chu Feng?

Among the crowd, an adorable, fair-skinned woman with chubby cheeks walked over.

“Ling Xiao, did... something happen to Lord Nianqing?”

It was Ling Sheng’er, the granddaughter of the Ling Clan’s Clan Chief. On top of her eminent background, she also possessed tremendous talent. She was lauded as a prodigy who could potentially surpass Ling Xiao.

She had met Chu Feng at the Divine Inheritance Ground and became close friends with him. Afterward, she had been accompanying Jie Nianqing in the Divine Inheritance Ground.

Standing behind Ling Sheng’er was her older sister, Ling Mo’er, Jie Nianqing’s aide, Shuang Yu, Jie Yu, and the other people whom Chu Feng met in the Divine Inheritance Ground.

Ling Sheng’er’s words made everyone tense up. She had accompanied Jie Nianqing the most, so she might know things that they were oblivious about.

“Lord Nianqing and Lord Shuang Xue are dead...” Ling Xiao said.

“What?”

That came like a bolt from the blue. Everyone couldn’t believe what they had just heard.

“Audacious, Ling Xiao! How can you joke about Lord Nianqing’s life and death?” someone roared in anger.

“Ling Xiao, you can’t crack such a joke!” someone tried to mediate.

But Ling Sheng’er and the others, who had been accompanying Jie Nianqing since the Divine Inheritance Ground, revealed sorrowful looks.

Shuang Yu clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. Her eyes widened with anger and murderous intent, but she couldn’t stop the tears from flowing down her face.

She had known what Jie Nianqing was planning to do in the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion. She wanted to tag along, but Jie Nianqing wouldn’t permit it, knowing that this mission would be fraught with danger.

That was how Shaung Yu and Ling Sheng’er knew right away Ling Xiao wasn’t lying.

Jie Nianqing had failed and paid the price.

The others soon realized something was amiss.

Not a single person who returned with Ling Xiao criticized him after he shared the news. Even Ling Xiao’s grandfather had a heavy, grieving expression.

“Hurry up and tell us what happened!” someone urged.

“Jie Tianran killed Lord Jie Nianqing,” Ling Xiao’s grandfather replied.

“I’ll kill them!”

Killing intent flared from many of those present, and some even declared their intention to return to the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion.

Ling Xiao’s grandfather snorted, “Are you heading back to die? Do you think Lord Jie Nianqing would want you to make such a meaningless sacrifice?”

The crowd fell silent.

Even Jie Nianqing had failed to defeat Jie Tianran; the rest of them didn’t stand a chance.

“We need to continue living to avenge Lord Jie Nianqing. Only then can we do something for her,” Ling Xiao’s grandfather said.

“What do we do? What can we do?”

The crowd looked at Ling Xiao’s grandfather. They were enraged, but more than that, they felt powerless.

“If only we could contact Chu Feng,” Ling Xiao said with a sigh.

“What did you say? Are you asking us to side with Chu Feng?”

The crowd had conflicted looks on their faces.

Despite having made up their minds to leave, they still viewed themselves as members of the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion. They didn’t mind secretly helping Chu Feng out of loyalty to Jie Nianqing, but completely siding with Chu Feng meant taking a stand against the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion.

And that was not a decision they were ready to make yet.

“We should consider Ling Xiao’s suggestion,” Ling Xiao’s grandfather spoke up.

The crowd looked even more conflicted.

“Chu Feng has amassed some influence, and he has many aces up his sleeves as well. Otherwise, our Seven Realms Sacred Mansion wouldn’t have been powerless to do anything about him to date.

“Think about what happened in the Undying Starfield. There were many experts from the Netherworld Sect there, and even Jie Tianran was there as well,” Ling Xiao’s grandfather said.

The crowd nodded in agreement. Many of them possessed observation means, allowing them to see what happened at the Undying Starfield.

The fact that Jie Tianran had been there as well meant that not even he had the power to capture Chu Feng, even when Chu Feng was prancing around right in front of him.

“Chu Feng is an incredible one. He has accomplished many formidable feats. Putting all things aside, he has achieved more than what Ranqing did back then.”

“This era is filled with talents, but none of them shine as brilliantly as Chu Feng.”

Many older ones voiced their agreement.

“All things aside, it has been prophesied that a junior will obtain God’s Era’s legacy. In other words, Jie Tianran’s greatest competitor in God’s Era is Chu Feng. Of course, the present Chu Feng still isn’t strong enough to fight Jie Tianran, but Jie Tianran is unable to do anything about him as well. However, there is no doubt that Chu Feng can surpass Jie Tianran in the future.

“But more importantly, our Seven Realms Sacred Mansion has blacklisted Chu Feng and constantly made attempts on his life, but he has refrained from massacring our people on sight.

“You should have heard about how Chu Feng deals with his other enemies. He has been holding back against the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion, sometimes even befriending some of us. Ling Xiao, Miss Sheng’er, and Jie Yu are examples of that. He chooses people not by their talent or background but by their character,” Ling Xiao’s grandfather said.

“Chu Feng has indeed proven himself to be a principled man.”

“While he is vicious toward enemies, he has never oppressed the weak without reason.”

“Truth be told, I don’t harbor animosity against Chu Feng. I have criticized him, but that was going with the atmosphere. If anything, I do feel respect for him.”

“But... we are still from the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion.”

The crowd voiced their doubts.

“Elders, what does being a part of the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion mean to you?” Ling Sheng’er asked. She was also in grief, but she retained her composure.

“You would pit your lives against Jie Tianran for Lord Nianqing, yet you’re worried about going against Jie Tianran’s will to befriend Chu Feng? I don’t doubt that all of us here love the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion, but Jie Tianran isn’t the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion!

“Chu Feng isn’t the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s enemy; Jie Tianran merely made it that way. If anything, Chu Feng is Lord Nianqing’s grandson, Lord Ranqing’s son. Were it not for Jie Tianran’s sabotage, he could have become one of the pillars supporting us.

“Chu Feng should have been the future of our Seven Realms Sacred Mansion, but Jie Tianran ruined that for his own warped obsession. Lord Nianqing confronted Jie Tianran to seek justice for Chu Feng, but Jie Tianran would stoop as far as to kill even his wife. He is out of his mind!

“If Lord Nianqing were here, she would spare no effort to support Chu Feng. The best thing we can do for Lord Nianqing right now is to do our best to support Chu Feng as well!” Ling Sheng’er said.
