Martial God Asura

Chapter 6567: The Natural Oddity is a Demonic Item

Wu!

The Martial Cultivator Commerce Guild’s leader suddenly let out a groan. Looking over, her face was already warped in pain.

“What’s wrong, elder?” Chu Feng asked anxiously, but the latter didn’t seem to hear him.

He placed his hand on her forehead to inspect her condition. Soon, he realized that she had been caught in an illusion, and it wouldn’t be easy to pull her out of it.

This prompted him to turn his attention to the natural oddity. He suspected it to be the culprit.

In contrast, the lunatic remained impassive.

“I won’t hold back since she’s unable to do it.” The lunatic sat down and prepared to assimilate the natural oddity as well.

“Elder, there’s something amiss about the natural oddity,” Chu Feng advised.

“I know.”

The lunatic closed her eyes and began assimilating the natural oddity. Soon, she began frowning in pain just like the guild leader.

Chu Feng tried several ways to rescue them, including constructing formations, but he couldn’t sever their connection with the natural oddity. Watching their auras grow weaker, he made up his mind.

“I’ll have to destroy the natural oddity.”

But he didn’t make a move right away. He grabbed the Monster Slayer Sword and utilized its power to raise his cultivation up to rank one Heavenly God level. To avoid any accidents, he decided to go all out.

As soon as he swung his blade, he realized that the situation was worse than he had expected.

The Monster Slayer Sword struck the natural oddity with a loud clang. The seemingly frail treasure turned out to be unbelievably resilient! Not even the power of the Monster Slayer Sword could faze it in the least.

“Why is that natural oddity so hard? Chu Feng, do you need my help?” Eggy asked.

“Something is very wrong with this natural oddity. I don’t think it’ll work even if you make a move. We’ll have to try something else.”

Chu Feng sat down and began assimilating the natural oddity as well.

Since external means didn’t work, he could only head inside the natural oddity and see if he could rescue the guild leader and the lunatic from within.

The natural oddity’s energy flowed into his body, but it wasn’t energy he could use for cultivation. Instead, it transported his consciousness into another space. This was within Chu Feng’s expectations.

It appeared to be a huge space, but Chu Feng wasn’t certain as the area was shrouded in a golden aura. The golden aura looked beautiful, but it clouded one’s mind. The only way to not be affected by it was to maintain one’s composure.

Those who failed to maintain their composure would be slowly devoured by the golden aura until death.

“Elder?”

Chu Feng soon noticed the lunatic.

She was sitting with crossed legs not too far away. A golden aura shrouded her, devouring her life force, bloodline, and cultivation. The rate of devouring was slow, but she would surely die if this went on.

Needless to say, she didn’t respond to Chu Feng’s call.

Chu Feng walked up to the lunatic and placed his hand on her forehead. It was fortunate that he could still utilize his means even though this wasn’t his real body.

He channeled his spirit power to break the link between the lunatic and this place, thus awakening her from her trance. He proceeded to fortify her mental resilience lest she succumbs to the golden aura again.

The lunatic’s first response upon regaining consciousness was horror. However, she soon heaved a sigh of relief when she saw Chu Feng. She knew how close she had come to death earlier. Anyone in her place would have been frightened.

Hu!

The golden aura soon enveloped the lunatic once more, causing her face to warp in pain.

For some reason, she was unable to maintain her composure. In this place, anyone whose composure was shattered would be immediately afflicted by the golden aura.

This time, it took Chu Feng longer to awaken her.

“Elder, I think you have to leave this place,” he said.

“Thank you.”

The lunatic understood the plight she was in. She thanked Chu Feng before disappearing from this space. She had severed her own connection with the natural oddity.

Chu Feng ventured deeper into the space and soon found the guild leader. She was in worse condition than the lunatic.

Fortunately, Chu Feng was able to awaken her and inform her about the dangers of this place.

“How bizarre. The natural oddity should have been a cultivation resource, so how did it transform into a demonic item that devours people? Was I deceived by the Immortal Sea Fish Clan?”

The guild leader’s first response upon regaining consciousness was anger. This natural oddity was a gift from the Immortal Sea Fish Clan, after all.

“Elder, I suspect that the Immortal Sea Fish Clan doesn’t know much about this item, either,” Chu Feng replied.

“Yes, I might be thinking too much into it. It could also be that the changes in the Immortal Sea have corrupted the natural oddity,” the guild leader muttered.

Right after she said those words, the golden aura assaulted her once more, plunging her into a painful illusion.

Chu Feng had to awaken her once more.

“Elder, you should leave this place first. We’ll talk later.”

“There’s something sinister about this place. It’d be best not to linger here,” the guild leader voiced her agreement. A second later, she suddenly turned to Chu Feng and asked, “Wait, do you intend to stay here?”

“Elder, this natural oddity does appear to be a cultivation resource that is highly beneficial to cultivators with deep accumulation like you. As you have said earlier, it might just be corrupted. As long as we purge the corruption, it might still be usable.

“Elder, I have a bold request to make. If I am able to purge the corruption, can you share half of the natural oddity with Elder Liu?” Chu Feng said.

“Elder Liu? You’re talking about that lunatic?” the guild leader asked.

“Yes.” Chu Feng nodded.

“Not bad, you rascal! You actually got that lunatic’s family name. No one has ever gotten that from her. Oh no, I can feel it setting in again. I’ll have to leave now. I’ll share half of it with her if you can purge the corruption. Be careful, all right? Don’t hesitate to sever your connection if things go awry,” the guild leader said before hurriedly severing her link with the natural oddity.

When she regained her consciousness, she found the lunatic sitting not too far away.

Her pale face and shaken pupils made her realize that the lunatic had attempted to assimilate the natural oddity as well, just that she was first saved by Chu Feng.

“Looks like you failed as well,” the guild leader snorted.

The lunatic ignored the guild leader. She looked at Chu Feng with worried eyes.

“You don’t have to worry about Chu Feng. He’ll be fine,” the guild leader said, though her eyes also reflected her worry.

The natural oddity was too sinister. It clearly wasn’t a cultivation resource but a monster that devoured people. Even though Chu Feng appeared unfazed inside the natural oddity, there was no guarantee that he wouldn’t meet with danger.

The two of them were lucky to have Chu Feng to save them, but Chu Feng wouldn’t have anyone to save him.
