Chapter 6485: I’ll Play With You

Massive waves roared as they crashed down on the island, resembling ferocious beasts encircling their prey.

Jie Tianran stood by the corner of the island, channeling the red monstrous beast to maneuver within the devastating waves.

Iridescent lights resembling rainbows flowed within the water—they were all large schools of fish, which came in all colors. They looked mesmerizing.

The red monstrous beast was busy catching fish. There were so many fish that the red monstrous beast could devour an entire patch of them just by opening its mouth, but most fish simply passed through the red monstrous beast’s mouth and stomach.

Only one type of fish could be trapped inside the red monstrous beast’s belly—a golden, translucent fish that was only the length of a finger. There were very few of these fish, and they swam extremely fast. They were harder to capture compared to the other fish.

It had been some time since Jie Tianran arrived here, but the red monstrous beast only had thirty golden fish in its belly. The golden fish was being broken down and assimilated by the red monstrous beast, but the process was extremely slow.

“What do we do, Junior Chu Feng? Your loser grandfather is using his red monstrous beast to catch and assimilate golden fish. Those golden fish must be important here. Can your tree catch fish, too?” Wen Xue was worried.

“Of course it can.”

Chu Feng put the sapling down and formed a hand seal. The sapling swiftly grew to over ten thousand meters in height. The tree branches extended into the sea before weaving together into a net. The net was placed in the vicinity of the red monstrous beast.

The red monstrous beast’s forceful movements sent the fish scattering into the surroundings. Many fish naturally swam into Chu Feng’s net, but most simply passed through it. The golden fish are the only ones caught by the net.

It didn’t take long for the net to catch several golden fish.

“Well done, Junior Chu Feng!” Wen Xue was overjoyed.

At this rate, Chu Feng could capture far more fish than Jie Tianran thanks to the wider range of his net.

“Hmph!” Jie Tianran scoffed.

Wen Xue shouted to Jie Tianran,” Too slow, old pervert. Get your little pet to swim faster! Are your reactions slowing down because age has caught up with you? You won’t catch as many fish as my Junior Chu Feng at this rate. You sure are useless. You should stop being a waste of space and just drop dead.”

Jie Tianran’s face darkened. He was so used to being fawned on by others that he couldn’t accept being insulted in such a crude manner. However, he didn’t bother arguing with Wen Xue. He focused on channeling the red monstrous beast to continue catching golden fish.

But as big as his red monstrous beast’s mouth was, it was still nowhere as wide as Chu Feng’s net. Soon, there were more fish in Chu Feng’s net than in the red monstrous beast’s belly.

By the time six hours had passed, Chu Feng’s tree had caught twice as many golden fish as the red monstrous beast.

Just then, a massive spatial rift appeared in the middle of the island. A spirit formation gate was manifesting.

“It’s finally over. It looks like we have caught the required number of golden fish.” Wen Xue looked at the spirit formation gate with gleeful eyes.

GWAH!

The red monstrous beast suddenly spat out all the golden fish in its mouth with a roar.

“What’s that old pervert up to? Is he giving up?” Wen Xue was perplexed, but she had a feeling Jie Tianran was scheming something.

Jie Tianran changed his hand seal. The red monstrous beast emanated an iridescent aura identical to that of the schools of fish. At the same time, the manifestation speed of the spirit formation gate suddenly accelerated.

“Something is amiss. Junior Chu Feng, what’s going on?” Wen Xue looked at Chu Feng in bewilderment.

GWAR!

The red monstrous beast opened its mouth wide and devoured a large patch of fish. This time, even the fish of other colors couldn’t escape from the red monstrous beast’s mouth and belly.

Jie Tianran looked at Chu Feng in contempt and scorn.

The entity beside Jie Tianran scoffed, “Chu Feng, you might be talented, but you’re too young. You couldn’t tell that the golden fish are the most useless ones here. It is the other fish that harness true power. Jie Tianran released the other fish to make you think that catching the golden fish is the key to clearing this test. You thought you were getting ahead of us, but you were squandering your energy on a useless endeavor.”

“No, that’s impossible!” Wen Xue exclaimed. “The other fish pass right through the red monstrous beast. How can the red monstrous beast siphon energy from them? What did you do?”

“Hah! Lass, who told you that you have to capture the fish to siphon their energy?” the entity sneered.

Wen Xue widened her eyes in realization.

It might look like the other fish had safely passed through the red monstrous beast’s belly, but the truth was that the red monstrous beast had already devoured their energies.

That must have been the reason the red monstrous beast wasn’t moving particularly fast. It was busy siphoning energy from other fish.

“You shameless old bastards. Aren’t you embarrassed to be resorting to underhanded tricks against a junior?” Wen Xue roared.

Chu Feng suddenly interjected, “There are fools here, but it isn’t me.”

Chu Feng retracted his net and released the golden fish he had captured back into the water. He changed his hand seal, and the tree also emanated an iridescent aura. Its aura was even stronger than what the red monstrous beast released.

“I’m merely playing with you. Do you think I can’t tell as much?” Chu Feng sneered.
