Martial God Asura

Chapter 6455: Brother

“Why did you do so? Is it for Heaven Gate?” Chu Feng asked.

“That’s right,” Wang Qiang replied.

“Just for that, you stooped to become a malevolent cultivator and were willing to massacre so many people?” Chu Feng asked.

“I have my means to obtain Heaven Gate, but you also know that while Heaven Gate is a path leading into a place inside the Ninth Galaxy that is filled with fortuitous encounters, there is a difference in the fortuitous encounters there. I want the best fortuitous encounter there,” Wang Qiang said.

“You have changed.”

“People change. Sacrifices have to be made once you have confirmed your path.” Wang Qiang maintained an obstinate attitude. He didn’t think he was wrong.

Chu Feng was at a loss. Even if he won the argument against Wang Qiang, that didn’t mean Wang Qiang would listen to him, especially since Wang Qiang had already made up his mind.

Having a brother stand opposite him put him in a huge dilemma. He wished his brother could change his mind, but he didn’t know what he could do or say. He felt helpless.

“I agree with Song Yun. Our path has been fraught with difficulties, and there was no one around to help us. We had to pull through on our own. We don’t owe others anything, so why should we care about them?” Wang Qiang asked.

“That may be true for others, but what about the Divine Body Heavenly Mansion? What about your friends? Don’t you care about them?” Chu Feng asked.

Wang Qiang fell silent for a second before replying, “That’s why I said sacrifices are inevitable.”

Wang Qiang opened his palm, revealing a black aura.

The tribute formation began revolving rapidly, forming a terrifying hurricane around the two of them.

The black aura in Wang Qiang’s palm started out small, but it quickly expanded.

Chu Feng frowned. That was the same black aura Wang Qiang used for his warp portal, but it was stronger than he had expected.

“Chu Feng.”

Eggy frowned in unease. She sensed something eerie about the black aura. She wondered if Chu Feng could rival the current Wang Qiang even if he invoked bloodline rampage.

Pu!

Wang Qiang suddenly clenched his fist, and the black aura dissipated. It was not because he had lost control of the black aura but that he had chosen to dispel it on his own accord.

His breathing hastened. He looked at his clenched fist and murmured, “I was looking at you earlier. I wanted to know how you would view Song Yun after what she had done, if you would still view her as a friend. I wondered how you would view me once you know I was behind the tribute formation.”

Wang Qiang’s head was lowered. He dared not look at Chu Feng.

“Is it the Blood-devouring Demon Exalted?” Chu Feng asked.

Wang Qiang sneered, “Him? He’s beneath me.”

“Something must have happened in the Immemorial Cemetery then. You said you have chosen your path. What have you chosen? What did you encounter in the Immemorial Cemetery?” Chu Feng asked.

Wang Qiang didn’t reply.

Chu Feng continued his questioning. “Brother, you can tell me if you’re facing any troubles or difficulties. We can face them together.”

“It doesn’t matter.”

Wang Qiang finally raised his head to smile at Chu Feng, but the smile only made Chu Feng’s heart clench up. This was Chu Feng’s first time seeing such a smile on Wang Qiang’s face.

“You only need to know one thing, Chu Feng. You’ll always be my brother. With the tribute formation completed, the only way to unravel it is through my death. Do it.”

Wang Qiang opened his arms wide, ready to accept death.

Eggy was nervous. She would rather Chu Feng kill Wang Qiang as soon as possible, or else if Wang Qiang changed his mind, he could destroy them with the power he had displayed earlier. However, she also knew about the bond between Chu Feng and Wang Qiang

So, she held her tongue and waited for Chu Feng to make his own decision. She would accept the outcome no matter what happened. She would accept even dying alongside Chu Feng.

“Do it, brother. Now isn’t the time to get soft-hearted. There’s no way to be friends when our paths diverge,” Wang Qiang said.

Clang!

Chu Feng flicked his wrist and drew the Lightning Flame Sword.

Weng!

The runes on the Lightning Flame Sword emanated a brilliant light. With determined eyes, Chu Feng swung the sword down toward Wang Qiang.

Boom!

Space was torn apart. A gate appeared behind Wang Qiang.

It was Heaven Gate.

The stars inside the gate shone brighter than the others, and the natural energies seeping out from within were more concentrated than ever.

Chu Feng formed a hand seal, slid his fingers across the Lightning Flame Sword, and gathered its light in his palm. He pointed his finger at Wang Qiang, and the light surged into Wang Qiang’s body.

A suction force from Heaven Gate enveloped Wang Qiang, causing him to float upward.

“Brother, you...”

Wang Qiang stared at Chu Feng in disbelief. He couldn’t believe that Chu Feng had handed him the opportunity to enter Heaven Gate.

“The tribute formation will unravel once you leave the Immemorial Cemetery,” Chu Feng said.

“But that’s your fortuitous encounter! It’s the best Heaven Gate in the Seven Stars Orbs’ good path!” Wang Qiang exclaimed.

“That’s not important. You just have to know that you’re my brother, no matter what happens,” Chu Feng replied.

He formed a hand seal, and Wang Qiang flew into Heaven Gate.

Heaven Gate closed, and a furious gust blew. The tribute formation encompassing the entire Immemorial Cemetery was collapsing.

“Chu Feng, why did you hand your Heaven Gate to Wang Qiang? He was planning to sacrifice all of you!”

Eggy was so annoyed that she even paused her recuperation. She had refrained from commenting earlier to let Chu Feng make his own decision, but she thought that he was being too self-sacrificial.

“He was planning to sacrifice people, but not me,” Chu Feng replied.

“How do you know?” Eggy asked.

“The tribute formation seeks to assimilate every living being in the Immemorial Cemetery. The only reason it hasn’t been activated yet is due to a flaw in it. The flaw was caused by the person who constructed it. Wang Qiang couldn’t harden his heart.

“He was probably trying to exclude some people from the tribute formation. I can’t say the same for the others, but I’m certain I am one of them,” Chu Feng said.

“How can you be so confident? People change,” Eggy said.

As soon as she asked that question, she realized her question was redundant. Wang Qiang wielded the power to kill Chu Feng, but he chose not to use it. Instead, he told Chu Feng to kill him. This showed his reluctance to cross blows with Chu Feng.

Wang Qiang truly cared about Chu Feng.
