Chapter 6480: Shangguan Fengquan

“Then what should we be focusing on?” Wen Xue was confused.

“That’s a feint. We have to let the gus enter our bodies,” Chu Feng replied.

“Huh? We have to let those disgusting bugs enter our bodies?” Wen Xue stared at the countless gus crawling on the metal door in fear.

“That’s right.” Chu Feng nodded.

“Won’t we be controlled by the gus?”

“It’s just a trial. It won’t control us for real.”

“How do you know?” Wen Xue frowned. She couldn’t accept the situation, especially since she could tell how dangerous the gus were.

“That’s what I have discerned.”

“So, we won’t be able to advance if we don’t allow the gus to enter our bodies? What about the formation then?”

“That’s why I said it’s a feint. It looks as if the key to overcoming this formation lies in the walls, but there’s no need to decipher the formation here. The key is to take in the gus.”

“How do you know?”

“I can tell from the gus. It may look like they are randomly clustered, but the thickness of their stack and the trajectory of their movements are all clues.”

“Are you sure?” Wen Xue remained skeptical.

“You can wait for me out here if you can’t accept the solution. I can venture into the remnant alone. If the monstrous entity you mentioned truly exists, I’ll try my best to capture it for you,” Chu Feng replied.

“That won’t do. I’ll go in with you. So, how do we take in the gus?” Wen Xue asked.

Chu Feng remotely grabbed a gu and presented it to Wen Xue. “Stretch your hand forth and allow it to enter your body. Remember, you have to accept it. You mustn’t resist it.”

“Eeee~” Wen Xue’s face was dripping with contempt, but she still stretched her fair hand forth.

Chu Feng placed the gu on Wen Xue’s palm. The gu morphed into a golden light and seeped inside her palm.

Wen Xue quickly got into a relaxed state, loosening even her frown. She was not some immature brat who couldn’t control her feelings; no matter how much she despised the gu, she still heeded Chu Feng’s instruction and allowed the gu into her without any resistance.

Spirit power manifested around Wen Xue and devoured her. She must have cleared the trial and was teleported out.

Chu Feng was not surprised. While he didn’t like to give guarantees, he was confident in his judgment.

He reached out and placed a gu on his palm. Warmth surged through his body. His consciousness plunged into darkness, but he still saw specks of light as if he were in a dark forest filled with fireflies.

A woman sat dignified on the ground not too far away, facing away from him. She wore simple garments. Her hair was mostly white from old age, but there were also strands of other colors as well—seven colors, to be exact. There was a peculiar beauty to it.

Before Chu Feng could utter a word, the old woman spoke, “You took in the gus fast. You must have outstanding discernment. But if you wish to obtain the legacy here, you have to truly grasp the meaning behind this world.”

The old woman picked up a burning wood and drew a word in mid-air using its flame.

Plunder.

Chu Feng felt intense heat gushing at him as if this character harnessed extraordinary power, but the ‘Plunder’ character only lasted for an instant.

The old woman proceeded to write another character out of fire.

Nurture.

This character felt gentle, unlike the previous ‘Plunder’, but it also only lasted an instant.

Then, Chu Feng’s consciousness returned to his body.

He was no longer in the metal palace but in a stone realm. With a quick glance, he saw countless caverns, each appearing to contain something extraordinary.

“Amazing! You were right, Junior Chu Feng! We advanced from the metal palace once we let those gus enter our bodies. Not anyone can get here. We’re incredible!” Wen Xue exclaimed as she made her way up to Chu Feng, looking at him with respect.

“Chu Feng, what do those two characters mean?” Eggy asked.

She shared sight and hearing with Chu Feng, though there were also remnants that Eggy couldn’t tap into Chu Feng’s senses. It depended on whether the remnant’s owner allowed others to see what Chu Feng could.

And she saw the place Chu Feng’s consciousness was transported to earlier.

“I’m not sure. I only noticed her writing ‘Nurture’ more forcefully than ‘Plunder’,” Chu Feng replied.

“There’s something special about that old woman. That should be an important clue, right?” Eggy asked.

“It should be.” Chu Feng nodded in agreement.

The old woman was a formation entity, devoid of sentience, but even so, Chu Feng could tell that she was no ordinary person, possibly a formidable figure from the Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect.

“Junior Chu Feng, did you see that old woman in that forest earlier?” Wen Xue asked.

“Mmhm. Senior, did you see her, too?” Chu Feng asked.

“I was evicted before I could utter a word. Did she speak to you?”

“She did.” Chu Feng told Wen Xue about the two characters the old woman left him.

“Just two characters? She didn’t leave you with a legacy or something?” Wen Xue asked.

“I’m afraid not.” Chu Feng shook his head.

“What a pity.” Wen Xue sighed in regret. “Junior Chu Feng, do you know who she is?”

“Senior, you know her?”

“She is Shangguan Fengquan, the sect master of the Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect before they left for the Ninth Galaxy. She was one of the strongest experts in the earlier years of the present era.”

“That elder was the Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect’s sectmaster?” Chu Feng was not too surprised by that news, since that old woman felt extremely strong to him.

“That’s right. Isn’t it a pity to meet such an entity but not receive her legacy?” Wen Xue remarked.

“She was just a formation entity,” Chu Feng replied.

“Who says a formation entity can’t leave a legacy behind? This remnant itself is a formation, too!” Wen Xue exclaimed.

Chu Feng couldn’t retort against that. Wen Xue’s words made perfect sense.

“Forget it. Let’s focus on the task at hand. Junior Chu Feng, I can sense what I want in there,” Wen Xue said as she darted toward one of the caverns.

But Chu Feng grabbed her hand and stopped her. “Senior, you’ll die if you enter there now.”
