Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2463: Chapter 1826: Please Help Me With Something

On the second day after the attack, at noon, Hou Yuncheng came to Bai Xiaosheng’s residence to relay the latest developments in the investigation.

The investigation team of Lekram surely informed Hou Yuncheng, the head of the business group, of the results first, and then Bai Xiaosheng. At noon, Hou Yuncheng had nothing to do, so he said he would tell Bai Xiaosheng, letting the messenger return as well, and that he wanted to have a brief exchange with Bai Xiaosheng about it.

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, Bai Xiaosheng’s most trusted people, stayed back, and Hou Yuncheng knew the situation, so he didn’t ask them to leave.

”Fiewood finally admitted, under the powerful questioning from Lekram’s investigation team, that he was instigated by others, and he is willing to expose the mastermind,” Hou Yuncheng told Bai Xiaosheng.

This news was quite explosive.

”Oh?” Bai Xiaosheng was intrigued, and Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying perked up their ears.

”Fiewood said he had long been bribed by the former Deputy Executive President of Zhenbei Group’s Africa region, Cilio, who planned this attack,” Hou Yuncheng said, ”Not only that, but he also confessed to some serious commercial issues, mentioning eight or nine names. These are key figures at major companies, some comparable to Yorko, but all are wholly-owned subsidiaries under Zhenbei Group. Fiewood confessed that those people were also bribed by Cilio, secretly embezzling a large amount of the Group’s assets. It’s said that Cilio’s father, Brown, is the Business President of Zhenbei Group’s Africa region, their superior, and they were compelled, for their careers, to comply with everything. This attack was also due to coercion.”

”Did he really say that?” Bai Xiaosheng clicked his tongue in wonder.

Hou Yuncheng then said, ”Of course, those other matters are unrelated to this attack, the investigation team will notify your group for self-handling.”

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying exchanged a glance.

Rather than saying Fiewood confessed, it was more like he shifted away his responsibility. After all, this attack stirred up such a commotion that it might land him several years in prison. Such a confession turns the guilt into merit, reducing the sentence.

Only if Cilio’s guilt is confirmed will he bear all the consequences.

Even if Brown could protect him from the corporate level, when it involves legal matters, there is nothing he can do, and he might face criticism from some group executives, forcefully retiring early...

”This is indeed an unexpected confession,” Lin Weiwei murmured.

It’s surprising that the person behind Fiewood is Cilio, but on second thought it’s not entirely impossible.

”Did the investigation team believe Fiewood put all the blame on Cilio?” Bai Xiaosheng asked.

Hou Yuncheng smiled, ”I know what you are worried about, fearing that Fiewood might lie and shirk responsibility. But rest assured, Lekram’s investigation team is state-level, they aren’t easily fooled. This notice is only a routine notice; they will verify and individually question those people mentioned by Fiewood. They won’t let him get away so easily.”

Bai Xiaosheng nodded.

”Well, I’ve told you all I know; I just wanted to see how you were doing. If there’s nothing else, I won’t stay long,” Hou Yuncheng said as he began to get up.

Bai Xiaosheng quickly cleared his mind and rose to see him out.

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying also stood up.

”I’ll be out this afternoon; if there’s any more news, someone will deliver it directly to you. After all, you are the involved party,” Hou Yuncheng said one last thing to Bai Xiaosheng.

Bai Xiaosheng nodded, escorting him out.

After seeing off Hou Yuncheng, the three returned to the room.

Lin Weiwei couldn’t help but say, ”I never expected it! We thought the one behind Fiewood might be Caroline or Mr. Tike, but it turned out to be Cilio. Why did he organize the attack with two separate teams to look like two sides were involved? What’s he trying to do?”

Bai Xiaosheng remained silent.

Lei Ying said, ”If you want a logical explanation, maybe — it’s a scapegoat move. Fiewood is the head of a company directly under Mr. Tike. His involvement would immediately make us suspect Tike. Maybe they purposely let things slip to lead us to Fiewood, thus pointing the finger at Tike.”

Lin Weiwei clicked her tongue, ”Too bad they didn’t know Xiaosheng foresaw the potential threat and reported to the police early, who then took it very seriously.”

Up until now, Lin Weiwei still thought Bai Xiaosheng’s precaution was remarkable.

”So, do you really believe the mastermind is Cilio?” Lei Ying suddenly asked, glancing at Bai Xiaosheng.

Lin Weiwei was taken aback, ”Huh?”

Bai Xiaosheng also spoke, ”Even if Fiewood was truly instructed by Cilio, he’s trying to reduce his own guilt by just accusing Cilio alone. Why would he suddenly expose eight or nine corporate leaders? He’s being ’too proactive’ in confessing. Revealing those names would only serve as corroborative evidence to reduce his sentence, isn’t that too unnecessary?”

Lin Weiwei looked at Bai Xiaosheng and Lei Ying, tentatively, ”So what do you mean... Is Fiewood trying to drag others down with him because he’s unlucky?”

Bai Xiaosheng gave no definite answer, and Lei Ying also pondered silently.

”What are you really thinking, what’s the issue here?” Lin Weiwei couldn’t help but ask.

”What, are you eager for answers?” Bai Xiaosheng laughed, ”Wait, don’t rush, let’s see how things unfold.”

Saying this, Lin Weiwei nodded reluctantly.

In the afternoon, Bai Xiaosheng received news again that upon investigation, all those business bigwigs and heads of enterprises confessed privately admitting what Fiewood said, that they were all under Cilio’s command.

Some of them operated directly under Mr. Tike, and some directly under Brown within Zhenbei Group’s Africa region.

Their statements further established the severity of Cilio’s issues.

Bai Xiaosheng also learned that the investigation team informed Zhenbei Group headquarters of their findings and contacted Brown,

Brown, well-known in African commerce and Cilio’s father, deserves a notification as well.

Due to Brown’s special status, Lekram also paid considerable attention to him.

The investigators also stated they informed Cilio of the findings, hoping for a candid confession. Instead, Cilio reacted fiercely, showing strong anger and resistance, insisting he was framed, and requested to confront Fiewood face-to-face. Currently, the investigation is ongoing.

The investigators hoped Bai Xiaosheng could attend a closed hearing tomorrow.

Others being invited included people from Zhenbei Group, including Brown and Mr. Tike.

Regarding the invitation, Bai Xiaosheng naturally agreed.

That evening, Bai Xiaosheng heard Hou Yuncheng had returned and immediately went to find him for a chat about this matter.

When Hou Yuncheng heard Bai Xiaosheng came, he naturally welcomed him, serving fine tea.

Behind closed doors, it’s just Bai Xiaosheng and Hou Yuncheng.

Holding a teacup, Bai Xiaosheng said seriously to Hou Yuncheng, ”Director Hou, I’d like to ask for your help.”

”Oh? You rarely ask for my help, so say, what is it?” Hou Yuncheng, surprised yet very interested, smiled at Bai Xiaosheng.

In Hou Yuncheng’s eyes, though young, Bai Xiaosheng is very sensible and knows his limits, rarely making any requests over work or big matters.

This request for help from Bai Xiaosheng surprised Hou Yuncheng.

Hou Yuncheng assumed Bai Xiaosheng wanted official support on this matter. Bai Xiaosheng was caught up in a troublesome situation within his Group, and pursuing personal accountability would affect his identity within the Group, especially when the main suspect, Cilio, is Brown’s son. But if the business group seeks something, it wouldn’t possess such concerns.

Hou Yuncheng asked Bai Xiaosheng what he wanted help with, and Bai Xiaosheng explained it all.

Hou Yuncheng originally held his teacup intending to sip while listening to Bai Xiaosheng. But as Bai Xiaosheng spoke, Hou Yuncheng forgot to take a sip, eventually getting so engrossed he didn’t move an inch, just holding the cup.

”Is this really what you want me to do?” Hou Yuncheng asked incredulously, ”Are you serious?”

Bai Xiaosheng nodded sternly, ”Director Hou, listen as I explain slowly, I won’t ask for anything that violates regulations or laws.”

Hou Yuncheng nodded slightly.

Bai Xiaosheng elaborated meticulously, and Hou Yuncheng put down the cup altogether, listened with a furrowed brow, fingers gently tapping the table in thought.

Bai Xiaosheng finished speaking, not pressing, patiently waiting.

”This matter is truly...” Hou Yuncheng muttered, ”But, indeed it doesn’t violate anything.”

Hou Yuncheng gave his answer, ”If you insist, I’ll agree.”

Bai Xiaosheng suddenly smiled, expressing gratitude.

Hou Yuncheng laughed, ”As long as it doesn’t violate the regulations, higher-ups will agree. You, with your grand commercial vision in Bichi City, strengthening inter-country, inter-city corporate cooperation, holds immense significance, very valued by the leaders.”

Saying this, Bai Xiaosheng felt greatly honored, joking with Hou Yuncheng, ”Isn’t it all because of your wonderful leadership?”

”Stop flattering me, I don’t deserve it.” Hou Yuncheng laughed, ”Come, have tea!”

Bai Xiaosheng smiled while sipping tea, eyes gazing into the void.

The preparations for tomorrow’s hearing are complete, and he’s quite eager to see it unfold!
