Chapter 3830: Talking To The Luozi Brothers

Little Bull followed their gaze. ”Wild Peak?”

Luozi Yi nodded. ”They alone account for nearly half our yearly repair requests.”

Little Bull blinked. ”So many?”

”Very many.” Luozi Er reached into one drawer before pulling out a thick stack of reports. ”Yesterday alone...”

He flipped through several pages.

”Training Ground Seven.”

”Collapsed bridge.”

”Damaged courtyard.”

”Broken retaining wall.”

”Destroyed warehouse doors.”

”Cracked mountain steps.”

”Dining Hall roof.”

He looked up. ”...Apparently someone sneezed.”

Little Bull looked genuinely confused. ”How does sneezing break a roof?”

The brothers simultaneously answered. ”Wild Peak.”

Little Bull accepted the explanation immediately. ”Oh.”

Lin Mu nearly laughed internally. Apparently that single phrase answered almost every question involving the peak. As they continued chatting, Lin Mu subtly guided the conversation toward subjects that actually interested him.

”So... How big is this part of the Inner Court?”

The brothers happily explained. Little Bull’s innocent personality made his questions seem completely natural. Neither brother suspected anything. They simply assumed he genuinely knew nothing.

Which technically remained true for Little Bull.

”The Inner Court is divided into countless operational districts.” Luozi Yi pointed toward one of the wall maps. ”Our division lies here.”

He marked their current location. ”The Wild Peak occupies this mountain range.”

Another mark appeared. ”Administrative headquarters sit farther west. The Combat Divisions spread toward the south and the specialized cultivation peaks continue eastward.”

Little Bull nodded while memorizing every location.

”What about dangerous places?” That question immediately earned serious expressions.

”There are quite a few.” Luozi Er stood before the map.

”The closest one...” His finger landed upon a marked location. ”...is Emperor Rock.”

Little Bull nodded innocently. ”I heard about that.”

”Never go there.” Luozi Yi said firmly. ”There are no barriers anymore. That actually makes it more dangerous.”

Little Bull tilted his head. ”Why?”

”Because people stop taking warnings seriously.”

The explanation made perfect sense.

Luozi Er moved his finger elsewhere. ”Then there is Rain Dragon Lake.”

Little Bull looked curious. ”Is there really a dragon?”

”No.” The brothers laughed. ”At least not anymore.”

Luozi Yi explained patiently. ”Long ago an ancient Rain Dragon died there during battle. Its blood transformed the entire lake. The waters constantly shift, currents appear from nowhere and even immortals have vanished beneath the surface. Also every few decades enormous water spirits emerge.”

Little Bull listened carefully as that immediately became another location worth investigating.

”And here.” Luozi Er pointed toward another section. ”Mother Long Legs Cave.”

Little Bull frowned. ”That sounds scary.”

”It should.” Luozi Yi nodded. ”A colony of ancient immortal spiders inhabits that cave system. They rarely leave and they also ignore sect members.”

”...As long as nobody enters.” The man added at the end.

Little Bull immediately asked the obvious question. ”What happens if someone enters?”

The brothers exchanged meaningful looks. ”You become food.”

Little Bull immediately nodded. ”I won’t go.”

Lin Mu quietly committed every word to memory. Each forbidden zone represented another possible hiding place for the vault. More importantly, the explanations given by the brothers contained details Lady Kang’s map had lacked entirely.

This casual conversation had already proven worthwhile.

And judging by how willingly the two brothers continued answering his increasingly random questions, Lin Mu suspected he could learn far more before the administrative disciples finally arrived.

Little Bull remained inside the Luozi brothers’ office for quite some time after their conversation about the nearby forbidden zones.

The brothers proved to be surprisingly easy to talk to, especially once they realized the young man asked questions out of genuine curiosity rather than trying to waste their time.

Between answering his endless stream of simple questions and occasionally stopping to deal with servants bringing reports or requesting approvals, they managed to paint a surprisingly detailed picture of daily life within the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect.

For Lin Mu, the conversation proved far more valuable than he had expected.

The Luozi brothers knew the sect from a completely different perspective than Elder He Jian or the Wild Peak disciples. While the others focused on cultivation, strength, and battles, these two understood how the sect actually functioned from day to day.

They knew which divisions communicated with each other, where supplies moved, which roads remained busiest during different hours, which areas tended to stay deserted, and which officials were difficult to deal with.

Those were precisely the kinds of details someone planning to secretly search an entire world sized sect needed.

”So everyone needs to report somewhere?” Little Bull asked while taking another steamed bun from the plate that had somehow remained constantly refilled.

Luozi Yi nodded. ”Everyone has responsibilities.”

”What about Wild Peak?”

The brothers exchanged amused looks.

”They technically have responsibilities.” Luozi Er answered diplomatically.

Little Bull blinked. ”What does technically mean?”

Luozi Yi chuckled. ”It means they usually remember after someone reminds them.”

”I don’t get it.”

”They complete everything eventually.”

”They simply... don’t follow schedules very well.”

Little Bull nodded as though that explanation made perfect sense while Lin Mu secretly agreed. From everything he had witnessed so far, Wild Peak operated according to what could generously be described as organized chaos.

High Elder Shatter Peak seemed to treat planning as a distant suggestion rather than an actual necessity. The brothers continued explaining different divisions throughout the Inner Court, occasionally pointing at maps hanging upon the walls.

They showed him the routes connecting the major districts, explained which roads remained reserved for elders, identified several markets frequented by disciples, and even marked locations where food tended to be particularly good.

The final piece of information interested Little Bull far more than the rest.

”That dining hall makes the best pasteries.” Luozi Er pointed toward a district in the western quarter. ”And over here you’ll find the best steamed spirit buns.”

”What about meat?” Little Bull asked immediately.

”The eastern kitchens.”

”What about soup?”

”The northern district.”

”What about desserts?”

The brothers looked mildly surprised. ”You like sweets?”

Little Bull nodded honestly. ”They’re tasty.”

Luozi Yi laughed. ”Then remember the Lotus Pavilion. They make excellent honey cakes.”

Lin Mu quietly committed every location to memory. Even if he never personally cared about desserts, knowing where disciples gathered naturally always proved useful. Just as Little Bull prepared another question, hurried footsteps echoed outside the office.
