Chapter 3821: Quest To Find High Elder Shatter Peak

Half an hour passed quickly as barrel after barrel gradually emptied. The servants quietly continued replacing dishes whenever they disappeared.

None of them seemed surprised anymore. If anything, several looked impressed watching someone nearly keep pace with High Elder Shatter Peak’s appetite.

Eventually Little Bull wiped his mouth. ”I’m full.”

One disciple raised an eyebrow. ”Only full?”

”For now.”

”Good answer.” Everyone nodded approvingly again.

Little Bull looked around. ”What do I do today?”

The question immediately silenced everyone. Several disciples scratched their heads.

”...Hmm.” One finally answered. ”Go train.”

Little Bull blinked. ”How?”

The disciples exchanged uncertain glances.

One pointed toward the forest. ”Punch rocks.”

”No.” Another immediately disagreed. ”Lift boulders.”

”Waterfall.” A third shook his head. ”Stand under the waterfall until your body gets stronger.”

Someone farther away shouted across the hall. ”Fight bears!”

”No, don’t fight bears today. They’re grumpy after breakfast.”

Another disciple nodded thoughtfully. ”Good point.”

”So...” Little Bull continued looking between them. ”What do I actually do?”

Silence followed once again.

”Whatever you want.” Eventually another disciple shrugged. ”As long as you’re training.”

Little Bull slowly nodded though internally, Lin Mu sighed. This was somehow even less structured than he had imagined. The suggestions themselves were probably useful. Body cultivators truly did train through direct physical hardship.

Still... There had to be some progression. Some manuals. Some cultivation methods. Some explanation.

’Surely there must be some order in this chaotic freedom.’ Little Bull decided to ask a different question. ”Where’s High Elder Shatter Peak?”

The disciples immediately looked around.

”Dunno.”

”I think he left early.”

”I saw Junior Elder Wang looking for him.”

”No, I think he went toward the Core Court.”

Another shook his head.

”I heard there was a meeting.”

Someone else immediately objected.

”He doesn’t attend meetings.”

”They attend him.”

Laughter erupted around the table.

One disciple rubbed his chin. ”I honestly don’t know.”

”So...” Little Bull looked increasingly confused. ”Where is he?”

Everyone simply shrugged together. Lin Mu quietly accepted the answer. Searching further here would accomplish little. He finished another cup of soup before standing.

”I’ll go find him.”

One disciple waved casually. ”If you see him, tell him he still owes me a spar.”

”No!” Another immediately shouted. ”Tell him I already fixed the training ground!”

A third added. ”And ask whether we’re hunting tomorrow!”

Little Bull nodded earnestly. ”I’ll remember.”

He stepped outside once more. As he walked along the forest paths, Lin Mu’s thoughts gradually became more focused. He needed at least some routine even if freedom suited his mission perfectly.

Still, complete lack of structure could also become troublesome.

If someone later asked where he trained every day, what techniques he practiced or which elder instructed him, he needed believable answers.

Right now... He possessed nothing. No cultivation manual, no assigned teacher, no schedule, utterly no responsibilities and certainly no orientation. He had essentially been thrown into the Wild Peak and told to exist.

”I at least need a body cultivation technique,” Lin Mu muttered. ”It doesn’t even matter if I actually cultivate it.”

He simply needed something to serve as an excuse.

Xukong quietly agreed. ”You will eventually need a believable explanation for your future growth.”

”Exactly.”

If Little Bull suddenly became stronger without ever receiving a cultivation technique, even the carefree Wild Peak might begin asking questions.

”I should also visit the library.” The thought had barely formed before another doubt appeared. ”...If they even have someone managing it.”

After everything he had experienced during the past day... Lin Mu honestly would not have been surprised if the library simply consisted of a cave filled with books and a sign reading, Take whatever you need and put it back when you’re done.

At this point, almost anything seemed possible within the Wild Peak.

Lin Mu decided to find High Elder Shatter Peak, or at least some elder. He continued walking for a while until he reached the outer area. For a brief moment he simply stood beneath the towering trees, listening to the rustling leaves above him while considering his next course of action.

Everything had gone far more smoothly than expected after entering the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect, yet this was the first time his lack of preparation had caught up to him.

His identity as Little Bull had been accepted. He had entered the Wild Peak. He had even become the disciple of one of its most influential High Elders. At least in the eyes of others. Yet despite all of that, he possessed almost nothing that actually proved he belonged here.

He had no disciple token, no contribution jade slip, no cultivation manuals, no registration papers and not even an assigned residence record.

Technically speaking, if someone unfamiliar with yesterday’s events stopped him right now and demanded proof of his identity, he would have absolutely nothing to present. Lin Mu let out a long sigh.

”I really should have insisted on finishing the formalities first,” he muttered.

Of course, that had never really been an option. High Elder Shatter Peak had practically carried him away before anyone could protest. The administrative elders had certainly wanted to complete everything, but the burly High Elder had ignored every one of them as though they were background scenery.

At the time, Lin Mu had simply followed along. Now the consequences were beginning to appear. Still, worrying would accomplish nothing. He first needed to find someone with enough authority to sort everything out.

Preferably High Elder Shatter Peak. If not him, then any elder would suffice. Even one from another division could likely direct him toward the proper office. Thinking that far, Lin Mu finally started walking through the mountain paths.

His destination, however, soon became another problem entirely.

A few minutes later he reached one of the many cliffs overlooking the surrounding landscape. Stretching before him was an endless sea of forests, mountains and valleys. Far away on the horizon he could vaguely make out enormous structures belonging to other divisions of the sect.

They looked close. They were anything but.

Lin Mu silently estimated the distance.

”Hundreds of kilometers...” he muttered.
