Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 3639: A New Sense

Lin Mu could not reassure his companions. He could not even move properly. So he did the only thing he could.

He focused.

Within his mind, he began chanting.

The Calming Heart Sutra.

Its familiar rhythm echoed through his consciousness, each line forming a thread that pulled his scattered thoughts back together. The chaotic pressure did not vanish, but it became something he could begin to endure.

Minutes passed.

Each second felt stretched.

Each breath was an effort.

But slowly and gradually his awareness sharpened. The overwhelming weight began to separate into something more defined.

Lin Mu pushed further.

He forced his perception outward, searching through the pressure instead of being consumed by it.

”Find it...” Xukong’s voice guided him.

Lin Mu obeyed.

And then... He realized something.

The pressure was not uniform. It was not coming from every direction like he had thought before. It had a source, a direction... A pull.

With immense effort, Lin Mu turned.

His body resisted.

His muscles strained.

But he managed it.

His gaze shifted.

And then he saw it.

A brilliant sphere of light.

Blinding.

Overwhelming.

The sun.

Even through the ship’s filtered arrays, its presence dominated the Space. It radiated energy on a scale that dwarfed everything else within the system.

Lin Mu’s eyes widened slightly.

”It’s... coming from there...”

He had identified the source.

Yet the pressure remained.

Unrelenting.

It did not lessen simply because he had recognized it. Lin Mu struggled to maintain his focus.

Xukong spoke again.

”What do you think you are feeling?”

Lin Mu paused.

The question was simple.

Yet the answer was not immediate.

He forced himself to think.

The sensation...

The pull...

The weight...

It was familiar.

Yet magnified.

”Gravity...” Lin Mu realized.

The word formed clearly within his mind.

’This is gravity.’

But that only deepened his confusion.

”If this is gravity... why am I the only one feeling it?”

He knew the answer should be obvious. If the sun’s gravity was this strong, everyone aboard the ship would be affected.

Yet they were not.

Only him.

”And why now?” he wondered.

They had been in space for weeks.

The sun had always been there.

Why did it manifest like this only at this moment?

Lin Mu gave the answer.

”It is gravity.”

Xukong responded immediately.

”Then you already possess the means to counter it.”

Lin Mu’s thoughts aligned.

Understanding came.

Without hesitation, he acted.

A sphere of shimmering light appeared above him.

The Dominating Gravity Dao Embryo.

It manifested with quiet authority, its surface smooth and radiant, surrounded by intricate runes that rotated slowly, each one representing a principle of gravity that Lin Mu had comprehended.

The others noticed it immediately.

”The Gravity Dao Embryo?” Meng Bai whispered.

Even Cattaleya’s eyes widened slightly.

The presence of the Dao Embryo was undeniable.

Lin Mu activated it.

The moment he did, a second force emerged.

Controlled.

Directed.

His own gravity.

It expanded outward, forming a field that countered the oppressive pull coming from the sun.

The effect was immediate.

The pressure began to lessen.

Not completely at first.

But enough for Lin Mu to breathe.

Enough for his body to respond.

He pushed further.

Refining the output of the Dao Embryo, adjusting its intensity, aligning it against the incoming force.

Gradually...

The weight lifted.

His breathing steadied. His meridians began to stabilize. The chaotic flow of Qi slowed, returning to its natural rhythm.

Lin Mu stood up slowly.

The others rushed forward.

”What happened?” Meng Bai asked anxiously.

Lin Mu raised a hand slightly.

”Give me a moment,” he said.

His voice was still strained, but it carried clarity now.

They hesitated.

Then, stepped back.

Giving him space.

Lin Mu sat down cross-legged.

The Dominating Gravity Dao Embryo hovered above him, its runes continuing their slow rotation as it maintained a stable field around him.

Within his mind, Xukong spoke again.

”You have grasped the basics.”

Lin Mu exhaled slowly.

”What was that?”

Xukong’s answer came without delay.

”A new sense.”

Lin Mu frowned slightly.

”A sense?”

”Yes,” Xukong said. ”It has always been there. You simply did not perceive it.”

Lin Mu’s thoughts shifted.

”Explain.”

”It is similar to your spatial perception,” Xukong continued. ”You can sense space, its distortions, its flow. This is no different in principle.”

A brief pause.

”This is gravity sense.”

Lin Mu’s eyes narrowed slightly.

”Gravity... sense...”

”It allows you to perceive the gravitational influence of objects,” Xukong explained. ”Mass, pull, curvature of space caused by it. All of it.”

Lin Mu absorbed the information.

Then asked the question that lingered in his mind.

”Why did I never feel it before?”

Xukong’s tone remained steady.

”Because you lacked contrast.”

Lin Mu’s brows furrowed.

”Contrast?”

”Yes.”

Xukong elaborated.

”Within a world, gravity is constant. Stable. Uniform. Your body adapts to it from birth. It becomes your baseline.”

Lin Mu listened carefully.

”You do not notice it because there is nothing to compare it against,” Xukong continued. ”It is always present. Always the same.”

A realization began to form.

”In space... that changes.”

”Yes,” Xukong said. ”Here, gravity is not uniform. It varies depending on proximity to massive objects. The differences become pronounced.”

Lin Mu understood.

”In the Fox Scion world, I could not perceive it because it was constant.”

”And here,” Xukong added, ”you encountered a significant gravitational source without the buffering effect of a planetary environment.”

The star.

Its gravity.

Unfiltered.

Direct.

Lin Mu’s expression deepened.

”And my Dao Embryo...”

”Reacted,” Xukong finished.

Lin Mu nodded slowly.

”That is why it only affected me.”

The others did not feel it because they lacked sensitivity.

But his Dao Embryo...

Amplified it.

Forced him to perceive it.

Before he was ready.

”Your comprehension has reached a point where this sense can no longer remain dormant,” Xukong said.

Lin Mu looked up slightly, his gaze thoughtful.

The pressure he had felt...

The pain...

The confusion...

All of it now made sense.

He had not been attacked.

He had awakened.

A new layer of perception.

A new way to understand the universe around him.

Lin Mu exhaled slowly.

The Dominating Gravity Dao Embryo pulsed faintly above him.

And for the first time...

He began to truly feel the weight of the stars.
