Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 3637: The New Effect Of The Nurturing Heart Sutra

’This is unusual,’ Lin Mu thought.

A cultivation technique of this level would always bring clear changes.

Yet aside from an increase in efficiency when converting Immortal Qi into Beast Qi, he had not noticed anything particularly new.

That did not sit right with him.

”There must be more.”

He stopped.

Closed his eyes.

And began to chant the sutra internally.

The familiar rhythm flowed through his mind, each line carrying meaning that resonated with his understanding of life and connection.

Minutes passed.

Then hours.

Lin Mu remained still, his awareness focused inward as he searched for any difference, any change in how the sutra interacted with him.

At first, nothing stood out.

The flow of energy was smoother.

More refined.

But beyond that he found nothing obvious.

”This should not be all,” he reckoned.

His brows furrowed slightly.

He continued.

Testing.

Exploring.

Repeating the process from different angles.

Still no clear answer appeared.

It was at this point that he sensed the presence of the beasts again. Little Shrubby and the twins had returned, watching him with curiosity.

”Master, what are you doing?” Shrubby asked.

Lin Mu opened his eyes.

”I am trying to understand the new effect of the sutra,” he replied.

But the moment he spoke... Something changed.

The beasts froze.

All three of them.

Their bodies stilled completely, their eyes locked onto him.

Lin Mu noticed it immediately.

”What is it?” he asked.

Shrubby hesitated.

Then spoke again, his voice carrying a hint of disbelief.

”Master... you just spoke to us.”

Lin Mu raised a brow.

”I always speak to you.”

Xiao Yin shook her head.

”No... it was different.”

Xiao Yang continued.

”You spoke in our tongue.”

Lin Mu’s expression shifted.

”What?”

At that moment, another realization struck him.

Something he had overlooked entirely.

He had heard them.

Clearly.

Not through his mind.

But through his ears.

Lin Mu’s eyes widened slightly.

”That...”

He focused.

Then spoke again.

Carefully.

Deliberately.

This time, he paid full attention to what he was saying.

The sounds that came out of his mouth were unfamiliar.

Low.

Complex yet simple.

A mixture of growls, tones, and subtle vibrations that he could not replicate consciously in human speech.

Yet...

He understood them.

And so did the beasts.

Shrubby’s ears twitched.

Xiao Yin blinked.

Xiao Yang’s tail flicked.

”It is real...” Xiao Yin said softly.

Lin Mu immediately recorded the sound using a simple formation.

Then he stopped chanting the sutra.

And spoke again.

This time...

The sound returned to normal.

Human.

Lin Mu compared the two.

The difference was undeniable.

He inhaled slowly.

”I see...”

The realization settled in.

The new effect of the Nurturing Heart Sutra.

He could speak Beast Tongue. Not merely understand it, but truly speak it. Fluently, naturally and without effort.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

”This is... useful.”

The beasts, on the other hand, reacted differently.

They were... pleased.

Excited, even.

Shrubby’s tail moved more energetically.

The twins coiled closer, their expressions showing a clear sense of approval.

But then...

Xiao Yang spoke.

”We need to be careful now.”

Lin Mu blinked.

”Careful?”

Xiao Yang nodded.

”Our gossip...”

Xiao Yin quickly added, ”You might hear it now.”

Lin Mu raised a brow.

”Oh?”

The beasts froze again.

Then...

Turned away.

As if nothing had happened.

Lin Mu watched them.

Silently.

His expression unreadable.

”...I see.”

He did not press further for now. Instead, he returned his attention to the sutra.

He tested it further.

Spoke again in Beast Tongue.

This time, he tried more complex phrases.

Concepts.

Ideas.

To his surprise, everything translated seamlessly. There was no limitation in expression. No lack of vocabulary. Even abstract ideas found their equivalent within the language. It was as if the sutra bridged the gap entirely.

”I do not understand how it works...”

”But it works.”

Lin Mu nodded slightly.

This was a significant gain.

Before, communication with beasts required intermediaries. Or relied on shared understanding through bonds.

Now...

He could speak directly.

To any beast.

Anywhere.

It opened new possibilities.

New interactions.

New paths.

Lin Mu stood there for a moment longer, observing the beasts who were now pretending to be busy with something else entirely.

A faint hint of amusement flickered in his eyes.

Then he turned.

Satisfied.

The journey continued.

And with it his understanding grew.

Four weeks had passed since they had left the Fox Scion world, and the journey had settled into a steady, almost tranquil rhythm. The ship glided through space with practiced ease, its arrays humming softly as they maintained stability and direction.

What had once felt foreign had now become familiar.

Lin Mu stood upon the deck, his gaze fixed ahead as he oversaw the ship’s path. Though much of the navigation had been automated, he still preferred to remain present at regular intervals, guiding its course when necessary and ensuring that no unexpected variables slipped past unnoticed.

The vastness of space stretched endlessly before them, but now there was a point of interest.

Far ahead, something new had entered their view.

At first, it had appeared as nothing more than a faint speck.

Now... It had form.

”The fourth planet,” Lin Mu said quietly.

The others gathered near the observation formation, their eyes drawn to it.

Even without the assistance of the telescope, it was visible now.

A sphere.

Orange in hue, with darker brown patches scattered across its surface. The color was uneven, as if the planet itself had been scorched and reshaped over time. Bright spots glowed faintly in certain regions, their light flickering intermittently.

”Is that... lava?” Meng Bai asked, his voice filled with curiosity.

Lin Mu nodded.

”It appears so.”

The surface of the planet seemed unstable, as if it were constantly shifting. Streams of molten material likely flowed across its terrain, reshaping it continuously. From this distance, it looked almost alive.

Cattaleya crossed her arms, her expression thoughtful.

”That place looks dangerous... but fun.”

”I don’t know about fun but it is certainly dangerous.” Daoist Chu replied calmly. ”A world like that would be extremely volatile.”
