Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 2997: Being One With The Sword

Lin Mu did not know how long he had been walking.

At some point—long after the sharp winds had ceased and long after his flesh had grown numb to the pain—his mind entered a state beyond awareness.

A strange trance enveloped him.

No thoughts. No distractions. No future. No past.

There was only intent.

One step.

Then another.

His body moved not because he willed it, but because it must. The same way rivers flow down a mountain or stars course across the heavens. It was not a decision. It was nature. It was truth.

His sword intent, which had earlier formed a barrier around his body like a second skin, had begun a subtle transformation. It no longer rested upon him as a protective shell. Instead, it began sinking into him—merging, soaking into his flesh, his muscles, his meridians.

The integration was gradual, almost imperceptible.

A thin layer would vanish into his form, merging completely. But just when it seemed to have finally disappeared into his being, more sword intent would rise—drawn from the path itself, as if the Sacred Grounds refused to let the process end.

New sword intent poured into his body from the razor’s edge beneath his feet and from the windless void above. It saturated him once more, only to begin the slow integration again.

This cycle repeated. A thousand times. Ten thousand.

Sword intent flowing in. Merging. Dissolving. Re-emerging. Honing.

It was a polishing wheel grinding away all things that were not sword.

Until finally, Lin Mu understood.

The trance broke—but his clarity remained.

He inhaled and felt his entire being respond. Not as a body, not even as a cultivator... but as a sword.

A realization blossomed within him like a quiet bloom unfolding in spring:

When he had first achieved the Sword Heart stage within the Path of the Sealed Swords, it had been a breakthrough—a moment of revelation and alignment. But even then, it was only the beginning.

He had reached the Sword Heart stage.

But he had not yet become it.

Now, here upon this infinite razor’s edge, that incomplete Sword Heart had been fully refined.

He raised his arm and flexed his fingers. There was no aura rising from his skin. No visible manifestation. And yet he could feel it, deeper than bone, deeper than soul.

Sword intent didn’t rise from him anymore.

It was him.

Like his blood.

Like his thoughts.

Like breath.

It was so intrinsically part of his being that it no longer needed to be summoned or shaped. It responded to his emotions, his instincts, even his idle musings.

And more than that—it was alive.

He felt it subtly pulse through him, not as a power, but as a presence. Not separate. Not external. But an extension of his very will.

If someone were to attack him now—if a blade came for his back or a needle of qi shot toward his heart—his sword intent would move before his mind did.

A cut would answer a cut.

An intent would rise to meet intent.

Lin Mu finally stopped walking and stood silently on the edge of the path. His eyes drifted to the dark sky, still blank and starless. He reached down and touched his bare foot against the path. The pain from earlier was gone.

Not because the sword intent had weakened.

But because he had risen to meet it.

The endless tension between resistance and refinement was gone. The Sacred Grounds no longer sought to test him. They had shaped him, and in doing so, accepted him.

Water would not harm water, it would just fuse. The same was happening here. With his body becoming Sword Intent, the Sword Intent from the Razor’s edge did it no harm. Instead, it accepted it like a long gone companion.

Lin Mu’s body had long since become unbreakable—refined by the Burdenless Dominator Physique, it could shrug off the force of tribulation lightning, immortal fire, and weapons that could tear apart mountains.

But now, his very will had become just as indomitable.

Yet unlike his physique, which endured and shielded him through sheer resilience, his sword intent had taken on a nature far different.

It was not passive defense.

It was retaliatory.

It was like a coiled serpent asleep upon his skin. At rest, it was calm and silent. But the moment it sensed hostility, it would strike. Swiftly. Without warning.

And Lin Mu didn’t even need to command it.

If his Boundless Dominator Physique was a fortress... then his Sword Heart was the spiked wall surrounding it.

They did not serve the same purpose. But together, they ensured that nothing could touch him and get away unscathed.

”I see now,” Lin Mu murmured, his voice soft. ”A sword that does not strike when struck is not a sword. A shield is only part of strength. But a sword that guards without instruction... that answers without hesitation... that is something greater.”

He closed his eyes and let the sensation linger.

Every moment on the path had honed him. Every trial before had stripped away the layers of doubt, ambition, fear, even desire.

Now, what remained was not a man holding a sword.

It was a sword that happened to wear the shape of a man.

He stepped forward once more.

And this time, the razor beneath his feet did not resist.

It welcomed him.

The Sacred Grounds had accepted him.

But Lin Mu knew—it wasn’t over yet.

The edge may have shaped his body and his will. But the Sacred Grounds were more than a path. There were possibly more trials yet. There was no information told to him, yet he accepted it better that way.

He looked forward to the surprise, for he could feel them waiting in the silence, ready to reveal themselves when the time was right.

But now he was ready.

Not just to walk the edge.

But to become the edge.

And whatever awaited ahead... would be the whetstone for a blade that no longer needed to be sharpened.

Only drawn.
