Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 2995: Growing Intent, Weakening Defense

Time blurred into something meaningless within the Sacred Grounds.

Lin Mu did not know how long he had been walking upon the razor’s edge.

Hours? Days? Weeks?

The concept had become irrelevant.

There was no sky to change hues, no sun to rise or fall, no moon to wax or wane. Only the ever-present twilight gloom above, and the endless blade-thin path beneath his feet.

He pressed forward, one step at a time.

The winds had quieted, but the pressure had not eased. In fact, it had only grown more intense. Every meter traversed brought with it a subtle escalation of Sword Intent. No longer was it something external he could simply shield against—it began to seep inward, as if the edge of the path no longer sought to test his footing, but his very essence.

At first, it was only a flicker.

A momentary spark of discomfort beneath his soles. But that spark quickly became a flame. By the time Lin Mu had taken a few hundred more steps, the pain had sharpened into blazing needles stabbing through his feet.

Despite his Boundless Dominator Physique, despite the nigh-invulnerability of his immortal body, the pain remained. There was no blood, no visible injury, but the Sword Intent had taken on a new property—it bypassed the flesh entirely, striking at the core of his being.

Lin Mu grimaced slightly. Not out of fear, but out of realization.

”This Sword Intent...” he whispered, slowing his steps just a fraction. ”It’s no longer at the level of peak Immortal. It’s... Transcendent.”

There was no doubt in his heart.

This pressure, this insidious will—it was no longer something that even the mightiest of mortal sword cultivators could generate. It felt like the sword will of an existence beyond. Not just someone who had reached the pinnacle of cultivation, but one who had surpassed it—someone who had broken through into the realm above the Immortal.

And now, that very will pressed upon him with every step he took.

Lin Mu could tell: if he continued like this, even his physique might falter.

His body, strong enough to resist tribulation lightning, magma, and corrosive poisons, now quivered faintly beneath the unseen blade of the Sacred Grounds. It wasn’t a flaw in his cultivation. It wasn’t a lack of preparation.

This was simply a higher plane of existence imposing itself on him.

And so, he adapted.

Lin Mu stilled his thoughts, centered his breath, and channeled his Sword Intent inward.

A second layer of defense emerged—not from his flesh or his qi, but from his very will. It wrapped around him like an invisible cocoon, a protective veil woven from resolve and understanding.

It wasn’t flashy. It didn’t shine with divine light. It was subtle and calm, like the thin mist rising over a placid lake. But it was potent.

The moment it settled over his body, the searing pain in his feet eased slightly. He could now walk without feeling like his soul was being carved apart with every movement.

This, he understood, was the true test.

The Sacred Grounds no longer sought to test his strength of body. It now tested his sword intent, his sword heart, and the depth of his intent.

And yet... the reprieve was temporary.

As he continued along the razor’s edge, the pressure built once again. The sword path did not relent. With every step, it pressed harder against his barrier of Sword Intent, as if gauging its thickness, its purity, and its source.

At first, Lin Mu was able to restore his barrier with ease. Every time the pressure built, he would reinforce his intent with his deep reservoir of will. But that effort became increasingly difficult.

After what felt like another eternity of steps, he realized a grim truth: he was now restoring his barrier slower than it was being worn away.

The pressure was no longer simply challenging—it was actively grinding him down.

Small cracks began to appear in his Sword Intent barrier. Tiny fissures that would ripple across his aura like hairline fractures in crystal. Each time he tried to seal them, he found his intent fraying—thinner, more scattered than before.

Lin Mu narrowed his eyes, sweat finally beginning to bead on his brow.

He wasn’t panicking—far from it. But the realization was sobering.

”If this continues... I won’t last,” he murmured.

He knew the answer wasn’t brute force. He couldn’t just pour more power into his Sword Intent. That was like trying to dam an ocean with sand. Instead... he needed to go deeper. Refine it. Evolve it.

It wasn’t enough to have a Sword Heart. He needed to understand what his sword truly was.

He paused.

Not stopped—but paused. A momentary stillness amidst motion, a breath drawn in contemplation. The path beneath his feet shimmered faintly, as if watching.

And Lin Mu asked himself: What is my sword?

’Not what can it cut, not how strong is it—but what does it stand for?’

Protection? Justice? Strength?

No.

He thought of the past. Of the weak boy in a remote village who once longed to be strong enough to protect what mattered. He thought of the countless battles, the paths walked alone, the mentors he lost and the people he saved.

He thought of silence—of moments between fights when the sword was sheathed, and peace reigned.

That was it.

”My sword... is choice,” Lin Mu whispered.

”It cuts only when I choose. It moves not for vengeance, not for ego, but for clarity. For balance.”

With that realization, something changed.

His Sword Intent, once stretched thin in defense, suddenly condensed inward—not to resist the path’s pressure, but to become indistinguishable from it. The barrier didn’t block the blade anymore.

It became the blade.

The Sword Intent no longer clashed with the razor’s edge—it danced with it.

And the pressure stopped growing.

Lin Mu took another step—and another. The path beneath him accepted it, and for the first time since his journey began within the Sacred Grounds, the sword winds stilled completely.

He had passed another threshold.

But the path still stretched onward.

And Lin Mu, now calm again, continued walking into the unknown.
