Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 1051: Chapter 138: Assault Under the Rain Curtain

The rain poured down on the windows, the rhythmic noise feeling particularly comforting.

On the double bed, the woman slept soundly, her smooth arm embracing the muscular man beside her. Suddenly, the man abruptly opened his eyes, a fine layer of cold sweat seeping from his forehead.

A battlefield intuition, like a hammer, kept striking his nerves, causing his breath to quicken and his body to tense.

LeBron Johnson did not impulsively open his eyes, but held his breath, listening patiently, while silently pushing the woman beside him away, his hand sliding towards under the pillow.

Under the cover of the wind and rain, a faint ”click” sound came from the entrance.

LeBron touched the gun, quietly unlocked the safety, and stepped barefoot onto the mat, sneaking to the bedroom door like a cheetah.

He gently slid the door open a crack.

In the living room, faint light flickered, and a slightly overweight woman wearing cleaner’s attire stood in the foyer, with a plain handbag draped over her arm, looking around the room with a slightly bewildered expression.

This attire, this ordinary appearance, and the unguarded posture all made LeBron instinctively lower his guard.

His first thought was: Did the cleaning company change the hourly workers? Why come at this time?

LeBron held the gun single-handedly, opened the door, and sharply questioned, ”Who are you?!”

Before he finished speaking, a pair of hands suddenly reached over from the side, abruptly choking LeBron’s throat while gripping the hand holding the gun.

LeBron was shocked and struggled with all his might, but those arms were like iron clamps, not moving an inch.

The woman standing at the door just silently watched, neither surprised nor smug, her eyes like watching a dull soap opera.

Gradually, the man’s massive body collapsed into weakness.

As he was about to fall into unconsciousness, he heard the woman resembling an hourly worker impatiently say, ”It would be easier to just knock him out, why do you need to wrestle with him, are you a goat?”

A young voice came from behind: ”Just took a couple more seconds... Leave this one to you, I have to rush to the next event. By the way, there seems to be another woman in the bedroom, shall I handle her too?”

”No need to bother, I brought Life and Death Potion...”

-- Life and Death Potion? Sofia!

LeBron tried desperately to yell, but when he opened his mouth, no sound came out; he just felt a few drops of icy liquid fall into his mouth.

Afterward, the whole world seemed to become extremely distant, empty, with only a calm voice echoing in his ear.

”What’s your name?”

”LeBron Johnson.”

”Who’s the woman inside?”

”My lover, Sofia Hamm.”

”Was she involved in the Prometheus plan?”

”No... she wasn’t.”

”Good, then tell me in detail—what parts did you participate in within the Prometheus plan? And who are the accomplices?”

...

”I... I don’t know much about it.”

Victoria leaned back on the sofa, her face showing confusion and daze, speaking monotonously:

”Liayana Lightford from the Environmental Protection Agency... Samuel Blackster from the military company’s president... Evelyn Shaw from the lobbying industry... and Dexter Rhodes, the network security director, from the Department of Homeland Security...”

In another room, Jonathan was also awakened, facing the same interrogation.

Although he wasn’t ”Harrington,” he was a top lawyer, specializing in legal protection and crisis handling, participating even more deeply than Victoria.

”Senator Elijah Stockton... he’s the organization’s spokesperson in Congress, providing various confidential information to the organization; but the deepest cooperation is with Carter Frost from Future BioTech...”

...

Senator Elijah sat in his study at home, sipping expensive brandy in front of the fireplace, flanked by two scantily dressed girls, one holding a bottle of wine and the other sitting sideways in the senator’s lap.

”Hahaha, I hope this rain pours down a little more, for a few more days.” The senator chuckled to those beside him, ”It’d be best if it could clear out all the unproductive trash from New York City.”

Outside the window, a dense swarm of scorpions had already crawled up the wall, reaching the window ledge.

...

Top lobbyist Evelyn Shaw had just finished an encrypted call, with a figure reaching tens of millions of US dollars not causing her expression to change, as she tiredly rubbed her temples and headed for the bathroom.

She turned on the faucet, a thin stream of water trickling down, the pipe emanating a ”ka-ka-da-da” sound.

-- Broken pipe?

Evelyn frowned, just about to turn off the faucet when a dark object fell out.

In the next second—

”Buzz-buzz-buzz-buzz-buzz...”

Countless wasps gushed out from inside!

...

This night in New York, although not every area was experiencing heavy rain, under the influence of the hurricane, the entire city was enveloped in a curtain of rain.

The continuous sound of pattering rain rang out, late at night, most people had fallen asleep, with tightly shut windows, locked doors, and various security systems providing ample sense of safety.

A few small cockroaches crawled out from the sink, their shells glistening with cold, hard light in the darkness.

They worked methodically.

One of them crept into the bedroom, approached the two people sleeping on the bed, and with a snap unfurled the wings on its back.

Colorless and odorless gas spread out, the sound of snoring inside the room instantly changed rhythm, from a bellows to an elongated whistle.

Another cockroach carrying a small fork-shaped tool on its back found a socket, and inserted the ”fork” into it.

”Crack!”

Instantly, a strong current generated a high-temperature arc near the socket, accompanied by intense flashing lights and explosive sounds, the circuit breaker immediately tripped automatically, all various indicator lights inside the room dimming at the same time.

The remaining cockroaches worked together to remove the safety pin, then turned the door lock.

”Ka-da!”

The door opened.

Vito stood outside the door, still carrying a repair box. He adjusted the brim of his hat and slightly raised his head.

...

”I heard from my father that they hide in... in the state of Virginia... I don’t know the specific location, I’ve never been there...”

Victoria said groggily, ”My father once went to visit. But he said... on the way there and back, he rode in black vehicles where he couldn’t see the outside scenery at all... he doesn’t know where it was either...”

”Good girl.” Vilan chuckled softly, ”One last question, where do you hide the stuff extracted from the Wizard?”

”In... in the hidden basement...” Victoria said flatly, ”Basement, behind the storage cabinet, only my father knows the password...”

After speaking, her head drooped and she fell into a deep sleep.
