Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 872: Chapter 243: A Walk with the Headmaster

After a complex examination, Madam Pomfrey finally announced that Vid has completely recovered and the magic that turned him back to his childhood did not cause him any irreversible damage.

Then friends crowded around, surrounding the hospital bed, some tugging at Vid’s sleeve, some touching his arm, as if seeing him for the first time.

But under the watchful eyes of the Headmaster and Vid’s parents, they didn’t have a chance to express their turbulent emotions. After confirming Vid was well, they all left—

Even at Magic School, students generally don’t like to stay under the principal’s nose, even if that principal is Dumbledore.

Then, it was time for the Greys to say goodbye.

Fiona reluctantly helped Vid adjust his collar and said, ”We’ll sit down and have a good chat once you return home in a few days.”

”Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere this holiday,” Vid said, gripping her hand. ”We’ll meet again soon.”

Fiona nodded, wrapped her scarf around, and Ferdinand took her by the shoulder to walk out.

After walking a few steps, Vid saw his father stop again and turn back.

”If there’s something you must do, then go ahead and do it. Don’t let your concern for us affect your plans.”

The man’s voice was deeper than usual, the sunlight grazing the fine lines at the corners of his eyes, and those eyes full of complex emotions.

”You know, Vid... your mom and I only wish for your safety.”

...

Vid straightened his school robe and put away his Magic Wand and spare Magic Wand after cleaning them, and opened the ward door as summer’s sunlight, like honey, flowed in, spreading a warm glow on the floor tiles.

Dumbledore was standing by the window, gazing intently outside. Vid walked up to him and looked out through the glass—

Groups of students dotted the lawn, enjoying the final moments of the semester. The exams were over, but the results were not out yet; this was the most carefree time for students.

Some were strolling by the lake, some were chasing after goblins, others were riding brooms chasing each other, all appearing quite happy.

Dumbledore took out a small jar of honey candy from his pocket and offered, ”Want one? Sweets always remind us of the good side of life.”

”Sure!”

Vid took one and put it in his mouth.

Dumbledore’s chosen candy, though sometimes overly sweet, indeed tasted wonderful.

Vid now gradually understood Dumbledore’s habit of eating sweets one after another—

When there are too many worries in life, sugar at least brings a brief sense of joy.

Dumbledore also took a piece of candy, squinted his eyes at the sweetness, then smiled and said:

”Look, they’re leaving.”

Vid looked closely and saw a carriage slowly exiting the school gates, with Hagrid standing at the entrance, waving enthusiastically at it.

He knew that the people inside the carriage were his parents.

”I’m so glad to see you have such loving parents, Vid,” Dumbledore slowly said. ”Not everyone is so lucky to have the world’s most selfless and precious love.”

Vid watched the carriage gradually move away, feeling a tinge of guilt: ”But I always make them worry... For my dad and mom, if their son could be more ordinary... it might be better.”

”But the world might become worse,” Dumbledore shook his head and said. ”You are doing what needs to be done. Only in a peaceful environment can ordinary people live better.”

Vid was silent for a moment, feeling relieved.

He remembered the plot in the original story after Voldemort’s revival—

The Dark Lord and Death Eaters could unscrupulously break into people’s homes, bridges collapsed, hurricanes raged, Dementors were everywhere, ready to attack innocent people...

These destructions and deaths were casually mentioned in the original story, but that doesn’t mean the damage they caused can be lightly ignored.

If he were just an ordinary student, if he did nothing, then among the victims might be his parents.

Then, he frowned.

”But people still seem to think Voldemort is dead? Even though they witnessed that guy’s resurrection ritual...”

Dumbledore turned and walked towards the direction of the Headmaster’s Office, gesturing for Vid to follow.

He said, ”We can only assume that the influence of the Brain Hall’s magic is more stubborn than imagined. And... although no one saw Voldemort’s death scene, that all-consuming flame led many to instinctively believe he was already dead.”

Many people are used to judging others by their own understanding.

Facing the power of the Flame God, they felt they couldn’t survive such a terrible attack, and coupled with a faint hope in their hearts, people naturally thought that the Mysterious Man had been burned to death by that flame.

This thought should have flitted by, and then reason would have reclaimed the top of their minds. However, under the influence of the Masking Spell, the thought of ”Voldemort is dead” deepened, eventually becoming everyone’s consensus.

Talking about this made Vid feel slightly guilty.

He looked at the long strip of light cast by the sun beneath him, and worriedly asked, ”But if people are unaware, they’ll be defenseless when encountering Voldemort...”

Though even with defenses, most wouldn’t be able to resist a wizard of Voldemort’s level.

”Vid, Voldemort is now weaker than you think. He’s like a frightened child now; lurking in the shadows, licking his wounds and regaining his strength is what matters most to him.”

Dumbledore said softly: ”At this time, he would be more worried about actions that expose his whereabouts than you and I are.”

Vid followed up: ”And even if we reveal the truth, the speed at which the Magic World forgets is astonishingly fast.”

”Indeed,” Dumbledore said.

”Professor,” Vid remembered the newspaper and asked, ”The paper said Fudge recommended you to take over as Minister when he resigned?”

”That’s true.”

Dumbledore smiled slightly, repositioned the candy in his mouth, then said indistinctly:

”But I think Hogwarts needs me more. Rufus Scrimgeour will be an excellent Minister. His tough style is much like Bagno, exactly what the Ministry of Magic needs now.”

Vid’s eyes slightly flickered, and he looked at the Headmaster and asked:

”Professor, you’re still not planning to become the Minister of Ministry of Magic? Even if there’s no Voldemort, but considering the current momentum of the Witch Pure Party...”

Grindelwald’s name lingered on his tongue, but Vid swallowed it back, instead saying:

”I heard that the former Minister Bagno was actually quite open-minded, but Mr. Scrimgeour looks... like a very stubborn person.”
