Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 437: Chapter 121: Poppets and Space

The four poppets stood neatly, their bodies slightly swaying, sometimes opening their mouths to let out low growls.

They had grey-yellow or dark brown fur and beards, sharp teeth, appeared human-like but with a touch of beastly features.

Professor Abigail’s eyes lit up as she looked at these four poppets, reaching out to touch the blond one on the left, but it suddenly snapped its mouth open for a bite.

”Snap!”

Fortunately, Professor Abigail pulled back her hand quickly enough to avoid being bitten.

”Don’t worry, its teeth don’t have lupine venom.”

Vid said from the side, ”Besides, they only look fierce; they won’t really bite someone’s hand off, at most just leave a couple of pinhole-like marks.”

”In that case, won’t they lack a bit of intimidation?” Professor Abigail teased while playing with the poppets, ”You know, initially, students might be startled by them, but once they realize these werewolf poppets don’t cause much harm, they’ll become reckless!”

”They won’t,” Vid assured confidently, ”because I’ve infused their teeth with narrow-leaved nettle juice.”

”Narrow-leaved nettle?” Professor Abigail was momentarily stunned, then burst into laughter, ”Hahaha, Vid, you’re so devious!”

Vid shrugged and said, ”I can’t really have my classmates getting their hands and feet bitten off, can I? It just hurts a bit, and compared to encountering a real werewolf, the consequences are already mild.”

The juice of the narrow-leaved nettle contains various irritants, and even mere skin contact induces a sharp pain.

The juice that Vid injected into the werewolf poppets’ teeth was a simple concoction he made, causing more intense pain but easy to relieve—just a bit of dittany cream paste would suffice.

Therefore, he included a small design feature—each werewolf poppet had several small bottles attached to their waists, containing dittany cream paste, echoing the saying ”where there’s poison, there’s an antidote within seven steps.”

Professor Abigail, excitedly circling around, after looking at each werewolf, asked, ”Can they transform?”

”Of course.”

Vid clapped his hands, and the werewolf poppets suddenly posed as if howling at the moon, their bodies trembling slightly, heads elongating, noses protruding, sprouting greyish-black fur, teeth sharpening, their waists and backs bending forward...

In this hair-raising scene, Vid explained, ”The transformation takes about ten seconds, giving everyone a chance to escape or organize a counterattack.”

Professor Abigail had her magic wand half-drawn, nervously eyeing those transforming ”werewolves,” nodding, ”Oh—very good—it’s indeed necessary.”

Accompanied by several long howls, the werewolf poppets completed their transformation, their bodies enormous, with four legs much slenderer than ordinary wolves, now standing just a head shorter than Vid, with transparent saliva dripping from their sharp teeth.

The werewolves’ fur wasn’t as dense or smooth as ordinary wolves, more sparse, which made these beasts appear eerily humanoid.

Professor Abigail gave Vid a long look.

In the books on Fantastic Beasts, werewolf images were mostly hand-drawn black-and-white illustrations, clearly showing their features, but far from realistic.

Professor Abigail naturally knew what werewolves looked like. She had seen werewolf transformations more than once, and even personally cast spells to save a few recruits who nearly failed to transform.

Meanwhile, that Vid could create such realistic werewolf poppets indicated he must have lived closely with real werewolves—those transformed during the full moon—so clearly understanding all the details of werewolf transformation.

—Was it Remus Lupin?

Reportedly, during the holidays, Vid Gray and Harry Potter stayed at that person’s house for some time.

Thinking about the organization’s previous plans, Professor Abigail looked away uneasily, feeling a bit uncomfortable inside.

Several werewolf poppets showcased pouncing, biting, ambushing, and chasing motions in the room, even coordinating cleverly to surround and attack, appearing very smart and agile.

After the performance, they returned to their original form.

Professor Abigail naturally couldn’t stop praising them.

Subsequently, Vid demonstrated four vampire poppets that appeared no different from ordinary humans, even acting out roles.

A particularly handsome vampire poppet, somewhat resembling Cedric, opened its mouth with sweet talk—

”My love for you is everlasting.”

The vampire poppet held Professor Abigail’s hand, gazing at her deeply and saying:

”You are my life. Since meeting you, I never want to leave again. You are so enchanting, turning me into a fool.”

It murmured softly while leaning closer, seemingly about to kiss, but suddenly opened its mouth wide, revealing two long fangs.

With no expression watching its act, Professor Abigail suddenly swung a fist, followed by a shoulder throw, tossing the vampire poppet away.

”Well, this guy would mesmerize a bunch of silly girls without lifting a finger,” Professor Abigail clapped her hands and said, ”Are the others in the same style?”

Vid grinned maliciously, ”Why don’t you try them yourself, Professor?”

However, Professor Abigail had no intention of giving him a show, saying, ”Alright, I’ll get to know them one by one later—can these transform into bats?”
