Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 384: Chapter 89: Poppet Red Cap

Professor Abigail described her concept in detail.

”I don’t want to just use a model or refer to a textbook to teach these things. It’s important to learn how to deal with dangerous magical creatures. If learned haphazardly, I’m worried my students won’t be able to cope when facing danger in the future.”

”Actually, if it’s just one or two, I can still manage to get them. But Defense Against the Dark Arts shouldn’t be in a safe classroom, having students observe and challenge dark creatures already scared out of their wits.”

”You need to learn how to deal with opponents who suddenly attack from the shadows, from the soil, from the branches. They might even suddenly pop out of the closet when you’re preparing to sleep!”

”In nature, not many battles happen after everything is prepared; danger always comes when people think they’re safe.”

”But if we do it this way, I’m afraid after one class, half of my students will be gone, and McGonagall will surely go mad...”

Professor Abigail’s mouth twitched slightly; what she feared was evidently not the ’halved students,’ but Professor McGonagall’s anger.

”So I want to commission from you a batch of poppets, preferably with the appearance, aggression, and devious nature of these creatures, but without such strong destructive power...”

”——Poppets?” Vid bowed his head in thought.

”Correct, I can give you this amount for each poppet!”

Professor Abigail extended five fingers, saying with a pained expression:

”This is the largest sum I could apply for with the school, and I’ve added a bit myself...”

Vid looked at her expression and suddenly smiled.

”The amount of money doesn’t matter, just give me the cost price. Making these poppets is also a learning process for me.”

Professor Abigail was very pleased: ”So, you’re agreed?”

”Of course —— what do you need?”

”Firstly, the Red Cap and the Kappa, then the Evil Spirit, I have detailed information here...”

...

Vid returned to the dormitory holding a stack of papers and saw Phil still guarding the Flow Mirror.

”Mr. Gray has finished school.”

Phil saw Vid, immediately stood up, and saluted.

”Please sit down, Phil.” Vid sat cross-legged on the fluffy carpet and looked at the Flow Mirror: ”Eva hasn’t sent the letter yet?”

”Yes, she remembers your instructions; what’s important is observation.”

Phil said: ”Miss Eva arrived at seven thirty in the morning, but the observation target had already started working. She was helping prepare food in a Muggle Restaurant; after lunch, she switched to another restaurant to help clean. Now it’s her third job.”

In the mirror, Miss Werewolf had a box hanging on her chest and was selling various small goods and flags outside a soccer field.

Phil said: ”The observation target works very diligently, and no strange people have approached her.”

Vid responded with an ”Mm,” turned his head, and took out a lot of alchemy materials from the wardrobe space; he tapped them with the magic wand, substances flew and combined, some stretched, some transformed, some twisted.

Permanent Transfiguration Technique always works particularly well for making objects.

Moments later, a small statue appeared in the center of the room.

This was a Red Cap, looking like a goblin, with long white beards, a sharp eagle-hook nose, and a pair of fierce red eyes, wearing a scarlet hat as if dyed with fresh blood, with sharp eagle claws for hands, and iron boots on its feet.

Phil occasionally turned his gaze from the Flow Mirror, curiously watching this incredibly realistic-looking creature.

But at this moment, the Red Cap poppet neither moved nor spoke; it only had a shell, and Vid needed to shape more characteristics for it.

It wants to like hiding in the dark, using a big wooden stick to ambush humans from behind.

It runs fast, making a thumping sound when running, alert people will notice it immediately; so before a sneak attack, it’ll remain quiet.

It will use sharp claws to attack a person’s neck or eyes and upon encountering an attack, will emit a sharp, high-pitched scream, calling its companions.

Finally, it will have weaknesses, spells, or talismans can frighten it and make it quickly flee.

The glow of magic spells fell on the Red Cap poppet one by one, as if injecting it with a soul; the tips of its boots, hat, and the stick in its hand were glowing faintly, with layer upon layer of magic circles around its body.

Phil kept his gaze fixed on the Flow Mirror and dared not turn back.

He feared that once he turned around, he would be captivated by this wondrous scene, even forgetting to continue his task.

Phil frowned, looking seriously at Claire in the mirror.

The girl spent a long time, finally selling most of the goods in the box; she folded the box and stuffed it into her backpack, stowed away the money bag, drank some water from a street faucet, and bought a large bag of bread from a store, then took a late-returning bus home.

It was a slum near a church, with old, dilapidated buildings exuding a decaying smell, and no window glass was intact. The ground nearby was littered with garbage, walls covered in colorful graffiti filled with unsightly profanity.

Two men smoking on the street saw Claire, quickly gathered around maliciously. But upon seeing the girl’s face, they hurriedly pretended not to see and ran.

Claire didn’t bother with them; she carried her backpack, quickly ran into a building. The elevator had long become a trash bin, so she climbed the narrow stairs upward.

Eva couldn’t follow into the building; it hovered outside for a while, finally finding Claire’s trail again, then flew over, landing by the window.

In a room that was relatively intact, a dirty, scruffy-bearded man lay, wrapped in many bandages, with blood faintly seeping beneath them.

”I’m back, Fatos!” Claire ran in, asking: ”How’s the wound, still hurting?”

”It’s okay, the magic potion you brought back yesterday worked well.”

The man on the bed sat up with difficulty, asked: ”Was today smooth? Any trouble?”

”No, everything was fine, I made quite a bit of money.”

Claire said, laying out a somewhat clean cloth, then placing the bread she bought on it, the two of them ravenously wolfed it down.

They ate fiercely, not at all elegantly, a fist-sized piece of bread disappeared from their mouths in just seconds.

Claire licking the bread crumbs on her hands, said: ”I want to——”

”No!” Fatos cut her off directly.

”I just——”

”Not allowed!”

”But——”

”If Will has already returned to Diagon Alley and hasn’t come to find us, then that’s his attitude; you don’t need to go looking for him. If he hasn’t returned, then you even more definitely don’t——what did you bring back?”

Fatos suddenly turned his head, his fierce gaze seemed to pierce through the Flow Mirror and meet Phil’s stare!
