Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 348: Chapter 53: So, It Was Time

Hermione confronted Professor Trelawney, believing the shapes of the tea leaves had no relation to ominous things.

So, the nearby students once again started discussing whether Harry’s tea leaves resembled a black dog.

Harry listened helplessly to everyone talk about life and death, not wanting to give any opinion, and only lowered his voice to speak when Vid approached:

”Even if it looks like a black dog, it’s Sirius Black—what’s it got to do with ominous things?”

”Hmm... yes.”

Vid said vaguely, casually picking up Harry’s teacup and turning it around for a look.

Almost at first glance, a shape resembling a black dog appeared in his mind.

In fact, from the appearance, it doesn’t look that similar; it could also resemble a wolf, a fox, or a wild boar, but in his mind, there was a deep-rooted impression—

This is a black dog!

”If you ask me, it looks more like a hippo...” Ron gestured to Harry: ”Look, doesn’t this part look like a hippo’s nostrils?”

”Kind of.” Harry said.

”So... uh, this means you’re going to face some challenges...”

Ron said flipping through a book.

Vid set down the saucer and said to a worried-looking Neville beside him:

”Even if it’s ominous, it doesn’t mean death; it might just mean some difficulties and danger... That’s the point of prophecy, to foresee problems ahead of time and figure out a solution, rather than giving in thinking you’re doomed.”

Neville smiled: ”You’re right.”

After Divination class ended, the next was Transfiguration Class, and there wasn’t much time in between.

Students hurriedly put down their teacups and rushed to the Transfiguration classroom. Vid was just a bit slower in his actions, and most of them were already gone.

He walked forward with his backpack on his shoulder, casually glancing at other students’ teacups—

Cats, goats, wolves, daggers, hats, ravens...

The tea leaves of many students revealed shapes that could cause unease.

But the students seemed unaware of this, laughing and making clumsy predictions, and just like Vid’s words to Neville, most were looking at the bright side.

After all, sitting next to them were mostly close friends.

Only Professor Trelawney held a saucer looking utterly puzzled.

”How could this be? Is misfortune looming over the entire Hogwarts?... No, surely these students listened to my prophecies and secretly tampered with the tea leaves... Truly mischievous...”

Professor Trelawney muttered complaints about the student’s reckless behavior as she collected the teacups on the table.

She turned around and suddenly saw a student behind her, jumping in surprise, quickly adopting a serious and distant demeanor and asking: ”Child, do you have any questions?”

Vid looked at her, shook his head, and said: ”No, professor.”

Exited the classroom, he walked into a quiet corner and decisively turned the Time Turner one more time.

”...If you need noble hearts and iron muscles, don’t forget to call on me, Sir Cadogan!”

The short, plump knight shouted loudly, running swiftly across the portrait without noticing Vid on the corridor below.

Soon after, Vid heard his own voice: ”Good morning, everyone!”

He remained still, waiting for a few minutes, until there was no sound outside the corridor, then summoned his Flying Broomstick, headed straight to the library.

On Monday morning, most students without classes were catching up on sleep in the dormitory, and only a few were in the library.

Vid picked out a few books related to Divination from the shelf, sat cross-legged on the ground, and started flipping through them.

However, truly talented prophetic wizards like Cassandra are very rare; most derive their conclusions from experience and pattern recognition, combining numerology and astronomical signs in a more ’scientific’ way to predict.

Tea leaf reading largely falls into the former.

More authoritative books merely list more reference patterns, helping the learners know which direction to guess.

Even if the ’prediction’ is wrong, the wizard flipping through the book would only think it’s their lack of understanding of tea leaves rather than any mistake in the book.

No works like Vid that can immediately identify a shape with certainty.

Vid gently touched his eyes and felt a faint sense of bewilderment.

Having prophetic talents is surely great...

But he worried that fate’s gift came with a hidden, albeit high, price.

An hour passed swiftly, and Vid saw it was about time for class to end, borrowed the books from Madam Pince, met up with Michael after his Arithmancy class, and headed to the Transfiguration classroom.

In Michael’s eyes, they just left the Arithmancy classroom, but in reality, Vid had already attended a class and read for an hour.

Continuing like this, putting aside the exhaustion from attending extra classes, the mere confusion from time inconsistency was enough to bear.

Thinking of this, Vid couldn’t help but admire Percy.

He always thought Percy Weasley was good at studying and taking exams even with twelve OWLs, nothing exceptional compared to many wizards.

But this busy academic life, Percy managed for three years, also performed duties as a Prefect, dealt with two mischievous younger brothers, and without showing any major slip-ups—truly impressive.

Soon, everyone arrived at the Transfiguration classroom.

On the first class of the new semester, Professor McGonagall began explaining the knowledge of Animagus, and under everyone’s gaze, transformed into a cat.

Some students began clapping, but those who just finished the Divination class were still immersed in death prophecies, not reacting too enthusiastically.

After asking the reason, Professor McGonagall dismissively said: ”Divination is one of the least accurate subjects in magic; very few truly foresee the future, and as for Professor Trelawney...”

Professor McGonagall held back from openly disparaging her colleague, just snorted through her nose, conveying her opinion clearly.

”Potter, if you die, I assure you, you won’t have to submit today’s homework.”

Professor McGonagall said with deliberate seriousness causing everyone to laugh heartily.

Sitting beside Padma, Michael laughed a bit too and caught a rather rich, sweet scent from the girl.

Somewhat familiar.

”Padma,” Michael asked casually: ”Did you see Vid and Hermione during the Divination class?”

”Of course!” Padma looked at him oddly and said: ”They picked all subjects, including Divination.”

Michael took a deep breath: ”I see...”

So... it really is time...
