Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 307: Chapter 14: Clang!

Vid paused for a moment, took out a blank Friendship Book from his pocket, and handed it over, asking, ”Do you know how to use it?”

Claire swallowed nervously, carefully took it, and said, ”I kind of... know? I’ve seen others use it...”

Vid nodded: ”Write your name on it, and you can contact me. I have other work these days, I’ll probably look for you after a week.”

”Alright, I got it...”

Claire thought for a moment and added, ”I will contact the other werewolves.”

”I will also prepare the contract... What’s your full name?” Vid asked.

”Griffin. My name is Claire Griffin.”

Claire said with a smile on her face.

...

After returning from Diagon Alley, the Black Family had a new Flow Mirror, and Harry went to watch the show every day.

Later, Vid also placed two mirrors in his home and Moody’s.

”Is this a magic version of a television?” Ferdinand turned behind the mirror, surprised to say, ”There really aren’t any wires?”

”Really?” Fiona also circled the television once, then turned her head to ask Vid, ”What energy does it operate on?”

Ferdinand smiled and glanced at her: ”Of course, it’s magic, dear.”

”Ah! Right!” Fiona clapped her hands, then exclaimed, ”Vid, did you really invent this? How did you manage to do it?”

”Hmm...” Vid thought for a moment before speaking. ”Simply put, it’s mainly about using spells to link different mirrors, allowing them to present the same image at the same time...”

Fiona nodded understandingly: ”Well, in any case... magic is truly amazing.”

”Is this a Quidditch match?”

Ferdinand quickly immersed himself in the television program.

They had long understood the rules of Quidditch, but it was their first time watching the match.

”Flying so high?” Fiona was shocked by the height of the players, worriedly saying, ”What if they fall...”

Before she finished speaking, two people on the screen collided hard, then fell straight down like a broken kite.

The couple simultaneously exclaimed, Fiona tightly gripping her husband’s arm, the two instinctively leaning together, fingers tightly clasped.

The two falling players suspended a very short distance from the ground and were hurriedly carried away with their faces covered in blood.

Vid reassured: ”Spectators and players of Quidditch matches are all wizards. It’s easy to control situations when accidents happen, and professional matches will have dedicated healer rescue teams, so deaths happen very rarely.”

Fiona widened her eyes: ”—Rarely? So, there have been instances? More than once?”

Vid: ”Uh...”

”Even without hitting the ground, the speed they crash at is enough to break necks and rupture organs.” Ferdinand gratefully glanced at Vid, saying, ”Luckily, you didn’t participate in such matches.”

Vid: ...

In fact, while he was at school, he rode a broom almost every day up and down the towers.

Of course, during regular flying, he didn’t need to go very fast and certainly couldn’t compare with the fierce confrontation of professional matches.

But when transforming into a Peregrine Falcon, his speed could reach two to three times that of a Flying Broomstick.

Vid thought again, skipping himself, and then spoke about Harry.

”...He joined the Gryffindor Team in his first year and once fell from as high as fifty feet, eventually just injuring his arm...”

Fiona: ”Oh my! Isn’t he scared? If it were me, I certainly wouldn’t dare to ride a broom again!”

”To Harry, this is just a minor issue in his experiences.” Vid commented, ”In June, he even participated in the eradication of the thousand-year Basilisk event...”

Ferdinand: ”What?!”

Vid: ”...Thousand-year Basilisk.”

As they spoke, the Quidditch match ended, and a gigantic Basilisk suddenly appeared on the mirror, its bloodied eyes beneath, its long fangs seeming to drip with venom.

—The Aslan Magic Workshop hasn’t prepared many programs yet, so exciting scenes naturally get replayed often, and the audience equally watches with great interest.

Besides, the Flow Mirror is different from television, presenting images like a real mirror, looking extremely lifelike, making the Basilisk seem right there in front of them, ready to burst out from the mirror any moment!

The Greys were startled again, with Ferdinand instinctively shielding Fiona.

Soon after, they saw Harry rushing up to fight in the image. Compared to the Basilisk, he seemed absolutely tiny.

”Is this the Basilisk?” Fiona exclaimed, ”Has your school’s principal gone mad?”

”No... the activities were carried out under guaranteed safety conditions...” Vid didn’t know why, but suddenly his voice felt a bit weak: ”And in the end, no deaths occurred...”

He suddenly realized his perspective had unconsciously shifted a bit.

Vid was already accustomed to the magic world’s various incidents, feeling as long as no deaths occurred, or irreparable injuries were caused, it was merely a matter of a Magic Potion.

But to his parents, living in the world of ordinary people, the scene where the Basilisk sends people flying is extremely terrifying, especially considering the warriors charging forward were teenage kids, almost seemingly cruel.

If they could see a live broadcast of a Magic Potion Class, they wouldn’t know how many sharp explosions they would hear, the 999 emergency calls going off the hook.

Fiona was instantly cautious: ”Vid, you didn’t participate, did you?”

”No.” Vid promptly replied: ”Look, I’m nowhere to be seen within the footage.”

”Thank goodness!! You must stay safe and not engage in these dangerous activities!”

Fiona almost tearfully admonished him.

Vid nodded but saw Ferdinand was staring at him suspiciously.

With a father’s understanding of his son, if he truly hadn’t participated, he’d label such activities as ”stupid” or ”pointless”, rather than urging them to find proof.

Vid blinked, mouthing silently: ”I’m on camera.”

Only then did Ferdinand believe him.

Though standing by may also incur collateral damage, it’s certainly much better than being squashed by a Basilisk’s tail.

...

No moonlight tonight.

The seawater appeared pitch black, almost merging with the barren island.

Waves battered an island’s towering, black fortress, aside from the waves repeatedly coming and going, there seemed no second moving object here.

The windows in the tower were all devoid of light, evidently long abandoned, yet within the narrow room at the very top, the sole prisoner remained.

A gigantic stone door sealed the room, narrow gaps among the black stones served as the windows. A frail old man lay on a hard plank bed, draped in nothing but a dirty blanket.

Suddenly, a ”clang” was heard in the room.

A palm-sized mirror was silently slipped through the narrow gap and fell to the floor.
