4282 The Xia Brothers “Brother?!”

Xia Jie was briefly stunned after listening to his subordinate. Then, he said angrily, “Is he really going to continue down the wrong path?”

Previously, before entering the Realm Battlefield, Xia Jie had met his eldest brother, Xia Yu. At that time, it seemed like Xia Yu felt guilty so he assumed that Xia Yu would no longer force Ke’er again. He did not expect to hear this after he returned.

“If I had known this, I wouldn’t have entered the Realm Battlefield,” Xia Jie said, feeling regretful. Although he had many unexpected gains on the Realm Battlefield after going there to search for his niece, he would not have gone there if he knew this would happen.

“I’m going to look for him!”

!! Xia Jie left decisively, leaving his subordinates behind like a gust of wind.

The middle-aged man sighed. “Third Master is still as impatient as ever.”

Despite his words, when the middle-aged looked at the back of the unkempt Xia Jie, respect could be seen in his eyes. Xia Jie had saved his life in the past, and if Xia Jie needed his help, he would hesitate to give up his life for Xia Jie.

…

After leaving, Xia Jie looked for Xia Yu, his eldest brother and the Clan Leader of the Xia clan, immediately. As soon as he saw Xia Yu, he asked, “Where’s Xue’er? I heard that you brought her back to the clan. Where is she now?”

Xia Yu frowned slightly as he looked at his impatient brother. “You’re already an adult, but you still act like a child. Can you speak properly?”

In the past, Xia Yu felt guilty when faced with his third brother, Xia Jie. After all, it seemed like Xia Jie loved his daughter more than he did. As such, he felt ashamed whenever Xia Jie mentioned his daughter. However, today, he no longer felt guilty. After all, he had already decided not to force his daughter to marry Yun Qing Yan of the Yun clan.

Xia Jie grew even more upset when he saw Xia Yu act as though nothing happened. He said with a scoff, “Answer me. Where’s Xue’er? Didn’t she come back? Did you hand her over to Yun Ting Feng?”

Yun Ting Feng was the Clan Leader of the Yun clan, and he was also Yun Qing Yan’s father.

“You just returned, but you’re very well-informed,” Xia Yu said with a faint smile, “Don’t worry. I didn’t hand Xue’er to him.”

Xia Jie frowned. “Then, where’s Xue’er? Did you ground her after she returned? Did you stop her from seeing other people?”

Ke’er had been on the Realm Battlefield for more than 700 years, and it had been more than 700 years since Xia Jie had seen her. After such a long time, her Soul Pearl that was in his possession had long run out of energy, making it impossible for him to contact her.

“In a way, yes,” Xia Yu said with a nod.

“In a way?” Xia Jie grew angry again. “What do you mean? Previously, you told me that you wouldn’t force her to marry that brat, Yun Qing Yan, anymore if she came out of the Realm Battlefield alive.”

The faint smile on Xia Yu’s face did not fade when faced with the angry Xia Jie. “Don’t worry about it. The marriage agreement between Xue’er and Yun Qing Yan has been called off. Yun Ting Feng also promised that he won’t force her to marry his son again.”

The angry Xia Jie was stunned by Xia Yu’s words.

Not only was the marriage agreement called off, but Yun Ting Feng also agreed to it? When did Yun Ting Feng become so agreeable?

Xia Yu continued to say, “Apart from that, after spending more than 700 years on the Realm Battlefield, Xue’er has recovered her cultivation base from her past life. Not only that, but she has grown stronger as well. She must have had a fortuitous encounter on the Realm Battlefield. Do you feel happier after listening to this?”

Xia Yu laughed. There were times that he would feel frustrated with his third brother, but they were brothers after all. Moreover, he knew Xia Jie also sincerely loved his daughter. For all these reasons, he had always been rather tolerant of Xia Jie. If it were another person acting so recklessly to him, the Clan Leader of the Xia clan, he or she would have already been punished.

Xia Jie’s eyes brightened immediately. “Really?! In such a short time, she not only recovered her previous cultivation base but also grew stronger? Xue’er is not even a thousand years old in this life! It seems like our clan’s reincarnation technique is quite amazing!”

Xia Jie knew that when news spread about an intermediate Supreme God who was not even a thousand years old spread, it would definitely stir up a huge commotion in the Divine Offering Land and the other Realms of Gods.

“That’s a matter of course. How can a secret method passed down from our ancestors be simple?” Xia Yu said with a sigh, “However, in the history of our clan, there were a few ancestors who used this method before facing their Heavenly Tribulations. Alas, none of them successfully reincarnated. Along with the ancestor who created this secret technique, Xue’er is the second person to have succeeded in the history of our Xia clan.”

However, in truth, even Xia Yu was not 100% certain the ancestor who created the secret method reincarnated successfully. After all, a very long time had passed since then. He only assumed that the ancestor had succeeded.

Xia Jie shook his head and said, “Perhaps, it depended on one’s courage and determination. Unless one is certain one isn’t going to survive the Heavenly Tribulation, very few people would dare to try this secret method. It’s possible that there wasn’t anyone like that in our clan in the past…”

Xia Yu shook his head as well. “There was and is no lack of such people in our clan. Perhaps, to reincarnate successfully, courage and determination isn’t the only factor. Perhaps, there are factors as well…”

“I agree,” Xia Jie said with a proud expression on his face as he nodded, “Otherwise, not counting the ancestor who created the method, Xue’er wouldn’t be the only one to have succeeded. My niece is indeed extraordinary!”

Seeing how proud Xia Jie looked, Xia Yu could not help but say, “Of course. That’s my daughter. My biological daughter.”

At the same time, Xia Yu thought to himself, ‘She’s your niece, but she’s my daughter! If she wasn’t my daughter, she wouldn’t be your niece. Why are you acting so proud in front of me?’

The proud expression on Xia Jie’s face froze for a moment before he said, annoyed, “Oh, so now she’s your daughter? What about when you forced her to marry before? Then, after she successfully reincarnated, you still wanted to force her in the beginning!”

Speaking of this, Xia Jie became angry again.

Xia Yu was not upset with Xia Jie’s outburst. Instead, he said with a sigh, “Third brother, you should know that I was also forced into a corner…”

Xia Jie scoffed and said coldly, “I know. However, didn’t I tell you… If the Yun clan is really bold enough to do what they said they would and manage to kill our ancestor, once our ancestor’s Soul Pearl shatters, we’ll head to the Yun clan and fight them to death. Who’s afraid of them? Even if their ancestor comes back, there won’t be many members of the Yun clan left when he arrives. We’ll make sure the Yun clan won’t be able to recover!”

Xia Jie’s voice turned dark as he continued to say, “Moreover, I’m sure Yun Ting Feng won’t dare to go through with his threats. It’ll only bring about the downfall of the Yun clan, and he’ll become the biggest sinner in the history of the Yun clan at that time!”

“I know. That’s what I said in response to his threats this time, and he also gave up on forcing Xue’er to marry his son,” Xia Yu said.

“You should’ve said this from the very beginning,” Xia Jie said. Then, he frowned and asked, “Then, where’s Xue’er now?”

Xia Yu looked at Xia Jie and replied truthfully, “She’s in a stone room in our Xia clan’s ancestral hall. You won’t be able to see her or speak to her for another one thousand years.”

Xia Jie’s frown deepened. “Why? What’s the reason for this? My niece has returned, but I’m not allowed to see her and speak to her?”

Xia Yu replied, “It’s the Yun clan. Although Yun Ting Feng agreed to call off the marriage, he and the Yun clan aren’t willing to let the matter go so easily. His condition is for Xue’er to be confined for a thousand years. After that, she’ll naturally be freed.”

Xia Yu paused. When he saw Xia Jie’s eyes darting around, he said, “Don’t even think about it. Although Xue’er is in the clan’s estate, you can’t ignore Yun Ting Feng. Since you heard that Xue’er came back, you must have also heard that Yun Ting Feng came to the clan, right? He came to set up a Formation outside of the stone room. If someone frees Xue’er or speaks to Xue’er, he’ll be alerted by that Formation. Otherwise, he’s going to ask his ancestor to look for trouble with ours. I know it’s the same old threat. However, it’s not too much to agree to the request considering Xue’er will only be confined for a thousand years. He insisted that our clan has to be held accountable for breaking the marriage agreement in some way.”

Xia Jie’s expression eased after listening to Xia Yu’s expression.

Although it was shameless for Yun Ting Feng to threaten them with the safety of the Xia clan’s ancestor, Xia Yu and Xia Jie both felt that this punishment was indeed rather light. After all, the marriage agreement was not a one-sided thing. Back then, the Xia clan had agreed to the Yun clan’s proposal. As such, they were indeed at fault for going back on their words. It was only natural the Xia clan had to pay a price for calling off the marriage, and considering the bigger picture, being confined for a thousand years was nothing.

After a moment, Xia Jie frowned again, “Brother, is this really all Yun Ting Feng asked for? He only asked that Xue’er is confined for a thousand years?”

Based on Xia Jie’s understanding of Yun Ting Feng, Yun Ting Feng was not such an easygoing person. He was not one to compromise so easily. Was he really worried that the Xia clan would fight the Yun clan to death?

Xia Yu nodded. “Yes. He came up with this to give us a way out…”

Xia Yu did not tell and had no intention of telling Xia Jie that Yun Ting Feng wanted to kill his unworthy son-in-law. He was certain that Xia Jie would be furious after learning about it.
