War Sovereign Soaring The Heavens

Upon hearing Tang San Pao’s words, Zhang Tian You, who was seated next to Tang San Pao, exclaimed, “No wonder Ye Dong Li kept looking in our direction previously. Initially, I thought she was looking at Duan Ling Tian. In hindsight, she must have been looking at you…”

“You thought she was looking at Duan Ling Tian? Why would she look at him?” Tang San Pao asked, confused. Was it not obvious that Ye Dong Li was staring at him? Put everything aside, he was truly impressed by a woman’s ability to hold a grudge. They had only met once and had a misunderstanding at that time, but it seemed like she was still holding onto a grudge even after several centuries had passed.

“Isn’t it obvious? Duan Ling Tian is handsome,” Zhang Tian You replied without any hesitation, “Among us, Duan Ling Tian’s looks are the most popular among women.”

Tang San Pao looked at Zhang Tian You incredulously “Are you blind? You have no sense of aesthetics at all. I’m so much more handsome than Duan Ling Tian, and yet, you confidently said he’s more handsome! What did he bribe you with? I’ll double his offer!”

Apart from causing Zhang Tian You to roll his eyes, his words also caused Wang Ting to laugh. She thought that Tang San Pao was truly confident. Although Tang San Pao’s appearance was above average, he could not be considered handsome.

At this moment, He Jian Yi said, “It’s about to start.”

With this, all of them turned to look ahead.

Xu Kong Hai, the Vice Temple Master of the main Title Temple, flew over and arrived at the venue in just a blink of an eye. After looking around for a brief moment, he said, “Let the final round of the Devata Realms’ Battle of the Geniuses commence!”

The spectators were excited upon hearing Xu Kong Hai’s words. They had waited for three months for this day to come, and it was finally here!

“The Title Temple will not arrange your opponents for you during the final round of the Devata Realms’ Battle of the Geniuses. You’ll draw lots to decide your opponent.”

These words were no surprise to the others since this had been the case in the previous Devata Realms’ Battles of the Geniuses. Since before, the final 30 participants would draw lots to decide their opponents.

“Do you think the first match will have two participants with the strength of a Five Star God of War fighting each other?”

“From what we know so far, eight out of the 30 participants possess the strength of a Five Star God of War. At some point, two of the eight will definitely fight each other…”

“I, for one, hope the exciting matches will take place at the end. I’d like to save the best for last.”

While the spectators were busy discussing among themselves, Xu Kong Hai, brought out a big box with an opening at the top and said, “There are 30 jade slips in here with the number 1 to 30 engraved on them. The person who draws the number 1 will fight with the person who draws the number 2; the person who draws the numbers 3 will fight with the person who draws the number four and so on. You’re prohibited from checking the numbers with your Divine Consciousness. Otherwise, you’ll have to bear the consequences. Now, the final 30 participants, please step forward…”

In the previous Devata Realms’ Battle of the Geniuses, there were participants who tried to probe the numbers on the jade slips. As a result, their Divine Consciousness was rebounded, and they were severely injured by the backlash. Moreover, their injury affected their performance during their matches, causing them to lose when they could have won.

After Xu Kong Hai’s voice fell, the 30 participants, including Duan Ling Tian, flew toward Xu Kong Hai neatly. None of them dared to step out of line. Under everyone’s watchful eyes, they took turns to draw a jade slip.

After Tang San Pao glanced at the number on his jade slip, he looked at Duan Ling Tian and the others around him before he asked, “What number did you get?”

Ling Jue Yun did reply, but he openly showed the number on his jade slip: number 5. This meant that his opponent was the person who drew the number 6.

Tang San Pao looked around and asked, “Who drew the number 6?”

No one responded.

After a moment, Su Li smiled bitterly and said, “You can stop looking around. I drew the number 6.”

Even Duan Ling Tian was stunned by this development. He did not expect Su Li would have to fight Ling Jue Yun as soon as the first bout of the final round started.

“Duan Ling Tian, what about you? Are you my opponent?” Tang San Pao asked.

Duan Ling Tian held up his jade slip wordlessly. The number 12 could be clearly seen on his jade slip.

“It seems we’re not fated to fight yet,” Tang San Pao said. Then, he held up his jade slip to show the number 26 engraved on it.

At this moment, Xu Kong Hai’s loud and clear voice rang in the air again.

“Apart from those who drew the number 1 and 2, the others can return your seats now…”

As Duan Ling Tian and the others moved to leave, only two figures remained motionless. Some of them could not help but turn back as they left to have a look at the first two participants to battle.

One of them was Zhong Gui Yu. He was a sectless cultivator who had previously demonstrated the strength of a Five Star God of War. He was also Xu Ya Si’s junior brother.

As for Zhong Gui Yu’s opponent, he was just a participant who had shown the strength of a Four Star God of War so far.

Not long after Duan Ling Tian and the others returned to their seats, Zhong Gui Yu’s opponent wisely surrendered before the match began.

With this, Zhong Gui Yu won the match without fighting.

“Zhong Gui Yu, number 2, wins this match,” Xu Kong Hai said, “The participants with the numbers 3 and 4, please step forward.”

The following two participants were not any of the eight known participants with the strength of a Five Star God of War. The two participants had the strength of a top Four Star God of War.

One of them was someone Duan Ling Tian had paid attention to; it was Hong Yuan who had easily defeated Su Li previously. Su Li had suspected Hong Yuan had been holding back his strength and was possibly as strong as a Five Star God of War. Duan Ling Tian shared the same opinion as well. Apart from that, Hong Yuan was also one of the few people whom he suspected to be the Title Temple’s ace.

For these reasons, Duan Ling Tian’s eyes were following Hong Yuan as Hong Yuan flew into the battle ring. “Hong Yuan…”

At the same time, the spectators began to discuss among themselves again.

“Hong Yuan is one of the young geniuses cultivated by the Title Temple. His opponent is a sectless cultivator who’s surprisingly powerful as well. His opponent has the strength of a top Four Star God of War…”

“Previously, the strongest opponents they fought only had strength comparable to an ordinary Four Star God of War.”

“Since their opponents were weaker than them previously, it means there’s a chance two of them possess the strength of a Five Star God of War…”

“We’ll find out soon enough…”

Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Hong Yuan and his opponent began to fight.

Just as Su Li had suspected, it was soon made obvious that Hong Yuan was hiding his strength. Not long after his match started, he revealed his strength that was comparable to a Five Star God of War and swiftly defeated his opponent.

Xu Kong Hai naturally was not surprised by Hong Yuan’s strength. After all, as the Vice Temple Master of the main Title Temple, how could he be unaware of Hong Yuan’s true strength?

‘I knew it.’ Duan Ling Tian’s eyes glinted. At the same time, he was perplexed as he wondered if Sima Rui or Hong Yuan was the Title Temple’s ace. For now, both of their strengths seemed to be about the same, making it hard for him to guess.

After announcing Hong Yuan’s victory, Xu Kong Hai called out the participants with the numbers 5 and 6 which belonged to Ling Jue Yun and Su Li respectively.

A commotion broke out again among the spectators when they saw the two friends stepping forward.

“It’s Su Li and Ling Jue Yun!”

“Heavens! How unlucky of them to have to fight each other so soon!”

“Will Su Li surrender?”

It was clear to everyone who the winner of the match would be. Nevertheless, Su Li did not surrender. Just as expected, Su Li was defeated by Ling Jue Yun using three moves. If Ling Jue Yun had gone all out, Su Li would have been defeated with just a move.

“Ling Jue Yun, number 5, wins the third match. Participants with the numbers 7 and 8 please take your places in the battle ring,” Xu Kong Hai said again.

The two following participants only possessed the strength of a Four Star God of War. In the end, the participant with the strength of a top Four Star God of War triumphed. Since his opponent was weaker than him, there was a chance he was still holding back his strength and possessed the strength of a Five Star God of War.

The participants with the numbers 9 and 10 also only possessed the strength of a top Four Star God of War. Due to their similar strength, the fight was rather intense, and it took a while before a winner could be determined. All in all, it was a close fight.

“Participants with the numbers 11 and 12, please step forward.”

The following match was finally Duan Ling Tian’s turn to fight. His opponent who drew the number 11 was a participant from the Title Temple who had shown the strength of the top Four Star God of War so far.
