Emperor’s Domination

An overlord at the apex would not try without having absolute confidence to face the tribulation. However, this one came before the ascension and left no room to hide.

Overlords had faced numerous tribulations to reach this point. Although they feared the tribulations, they also understood the rules and had methods of avoidance. Hiding normally sufficed to prevent one from descending.

This particular one was the most frightening of them all – the one before an immortal ascension.

“Who is it?” This became the next question.

“Lord of Life and Death.” Someone recalled Xian Chengtian’s prophecy.

“That has to be it.” Others spread the news.

Although some emperors and desolate gods had this on their mind, hearing confirmation from others still stirred them.

“Life and Death Heaven will have two immortals then.” Discussions began everywhere.

This faction would have Desolate Ancestor and Lord of Life and Death. This meant it had enough power to deal with the two redemption grounds.

“She’s the most qualified now after Xian Chengtian’s death.” A primal ancestor said.

The current overlords in Three Immortals could be counted on one hand. Xian Chengtian was dead; Calamities’ cultivation degraded.

The remaining list included Primal Yin Immortal Ghost, Lord of Life and Death, Staff Ancestor, Boundless Devil Ancestor, and Supreme Black Ancestor.

Staff Ancestor was the youngest and the newest overlord. Moreover, since Calamities claimed she was on the verge of death, she couldn’t be a candidate.

The others couldn’t compare to Lord of Life and Death. Rumor has it she was only one step away from becoming an immortal. Thus, this shouldn’t surprise anyone.

“Can she do it?” A desolate god had a bad feeling about this.

Life and Death Heaven had failed before with Bodhi Ancestor. His cultivation and power were at their peak, just as his dao heart was. His greatness overshadowed Xian Chengtian.

His failed ascension cast a gloomy atmosphere over Life and Death Heaven and other overlords.

Immortality tempted everyone but his failure reminded everyone of how dangerous it was. If he couldn’t do it, the probability was low for her as well.

“Have to avoid the tribulation somehow.” An immortal said, having no confidence in trying a tribulation again, especially not this particular one.

“Why is she getting an unavoidable tribulation?” Someone asked.

“Must be a punishment for preventing death.” Some started to understand.

“No wonder.” This information spread among emperors and desolate gods.

“The heaven decides life and death, no one else.” An overlord whispered.

Outsiders didn’t know the process of how she brought someone back from the dead. However, she had done it more than once.

The most famous case was Guardian Blade of Life and Death. Her talent was impeccable, perhaps only slightly inferior to Fairy. However, she died during her overlord ascension and was brought back by the lord.

Later on, she fell in battle but refused the process for a second time, resulting in a magical existence. She had the power of an overlord but was not officially one, serving as an ever-present guard for the lord.

What happened after death was in the realm of the high heaven. Changing this process was rebellious. No one knew how the lord had avoided punishment all this time.

A few top cultivators speculated that she had a heavenly treasure known as Death Coffin. This couldn’t be verified.

This time, the high heaven sent down an ultimate tribulation as punishment for her past transgressions.
