Emperor’s Domination

“Stop fantasizing. Your willingness aside, the high heaven doesn’t care for your mortal body. It would only besmirch his will.” Li Qiye shook his head: “You would have been dead long ago without the bloodline.”

“Don’t put it like that.” Calamities smiled wryly: “If we choose to be a bit more liberal, I have the bloodline of the high heaven, right? I can be considered a messenger, that’s pretty noble. I’m not a mere mortal anymore.”

“Nothing wrong with your comment.” Li Qiye laughed and said: “Why stop there? You can say you’re the high heaven itself, the ultimate being.”

“That sounds pretty good.” He closed his eyes and imagined the feeling of being the high heaven. What would he look like?

“Good indeed.” Li Qiye said: “If someone like you becomes the high heaven, a mob would come running and devour you, not leaving a bone behind.”

“You’re exaggerating a bit, no?” He became startled.

“Not at all. Why do you think certain existences are hiding? Are they bored and just sleeping in their coffin? No, it’s because they can’t defeat the villainous heaven. If they somehow find a way, they would not only kill him but also devour him.” Li Qiye said.

“I can’t argue with that.” He turned pale.

An overlord such as himself was mighty but if he were to go further back on the river of time, there would be bigger fish capable of devouring him.

“Forget it, becoming the high heaven is not fun at all, always have to be on guard.” He shook his head.

“Yes, it is not fun but you don’t always have to be on guard. There is freedom in being the high heaven.” Li Qiye said.

“Hah, either way, that’s so far from me, I’d rather be more realistic.” He looked down and said.

“Go on.” Li Qiye said.

“Can I tame them?” He asked.

“You can’t, regardless of your efforts, because they don’t belong here. They will always want to break out of the prison while your body is the window, the easiest spot.” Li Qiye said.

“Then my life is over, just eternal suffering.” He said bitterly.

“Pretty much, since you’re Calamities, you must endure the calamities.” Li Qiye said.

“If I had known, I wouldn’t have touched it no matter what.” He complained.

“Well, it’s not entirely hopeless.” Li Qiye said.

“Oh? What hope is there?” Hope surfaced in his eyes as he hurriedly asked.

“If you can become a celestial immortal, the pain would not affect you at all.” Li Qiye said.

“A celestial immortal?” He asked.

“Like the primordial immortals from the redemption grounds.” Li Qiye said.

“…” He was speechless.

“Actually, one more level above, that’s it.” Li Qiye said.

“Is that a joke?!” He protested: “Becoming an immortal is hard enough, let alone this primordial or celestial crap. I have no chance then, I might as well die instead of living and suffering.”

“Don’t be so pessimistic, didn’t you say you have the high heaven’s bloodline?” Li Qiye smiled.

“Sigh, those were just self-comforting words.” Calamities shook his head: “I’m afraid it’s useless. I became an overlord out of luck, let alone an immortal. Xian Chengtian, with all of his talent and resources, still couldn’t become one. Bodhi Ancestor was surely qualified, right? So strong and had the bearing of an immortal. Alas, the tribulation still killed him. In my opinion, I would be facing a worse tribulation than all of them, considering what I have inside me.”

He didn’t try to diminish his prestige, nor did he lack courage. He understood perfectly well that he lacked the talent and conditions. Forcing the issue would end with death.

“Cultivation is a rebellious path, immortal ascension is fatal.” Li Qiye said: “You must be willing to die for this goal.”

“Forget it, people need to know their limit and be content.” He said.

“True, that’s a type of enlightenment.” Li Qiye said: “Everyone can shape their destiny, more or less.”

“But then again, I would have to endure these tribulations.” The conversation shifted back to the starting point. He thought such a life was not worth living.

“Not necessarily a dead end yet.” Li Qiye said.

“There’s another way? Perhaps you can suppress them permanently.” He asked.

“Only temporarily, I can’t be with you all the time.” Li Qiye said.

“I see.” He murmured.

“It’s because of your bloodline. They will wake up after being suppressed.” Li Qiye said.

“Can I pull them out and remove them?” He asked.

“Once you do, you will wish you hadn’t done so.” Li Qiye smiled.

“But at least there’s some hope, right?” He asked.

“Yes, you need someone else to bear them.” Li Qiye said.
