The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 1397: Chapter 1414: Young Madam Is Missing 4

Half an hour earlier.

Xia Xiaonuan was holding a lemon when she heard someone calling her name, and to her surprise, standing in front of her was the old butler of the Nangong Family.

She recognized him; she had seen him a few times back at the old residence.

However, what surprised her was encountering him in the supermarket.

”You... Hello...”

”Young madam, the master wants to see you. Please come with me.”

Xia Xiaonuan was slightly taken aback and asked, ”Grandfather... he’s back in the country?”

”Yes.”

”Okay... alright.”

Xia Xiaonuan nodded.

The butler exited through the back door; the car was also parked at the back.

Though Xia Xiaonuan wasn’t sure why, she had some guesses and didn’t ask further.

Yet, a vague unease lingered in her heart. Did your grandfather suddenly return because he found out about something?

Had Nangong Zhongli been away for so long, could it be...

Sitting in the car, Xia Xiaonuan felt her heart tighten with anxiety.

Until finally, the car stopped at the entrance of a five-star hotel.

Two security guards stood at the entrance and immediately opened the car door.

Xia Xiaonuan got out of the car and followed the butler into the hotel lobby.

Eventually, they arrived at a luxury suite on the seventeenth floor.

It was a very large suite, with a spacious living room, understated yet luxurious decor, and a gray carpet covering the floor.

As Xia Xiaonuan entered, she faintly smelled smoke and saw a tall armchair facing away from her at the window, with a man with partially gray hair sitting in it.

The man seemed to be smoking, partially lifting one hand as a light smoke drifted up to the ceiling.

Xia Xiaonuan paused slightly, and the butler stepped forward, ”Master, the young madam is here.”

Nangong Jinlie moved and then turned the chair around.

He gazed at Xia Xiaonuan with an authoritative look.

He held a gold pipe in his hand, engraved with patterns, both exquisite and intricate. At this moment, the pipe was at his lips; he took a puff and then exhaled half the smoke.

Xia Xiaonuan quickly stepped forward, inadvertently smiling as she said, ”Grandfather, is it really you? When did you come back?”

However, after just a few steps, she suddenly halted.

Because her gaze landed on a black Italian leather sofa in the corner, where a woman in red was sitting.

It was Nangong Zhongli.

Her body instinctively froze.

Nangong Zhongli suddenly stood up, smiling as she said, ”Xiaonuan, you’re here.”

Xia Xiaonuan was somewhat surprised by her eagerness but did not return the smile, only looking at her coldly.

Her face seemed to hold a demeanor of not daring to breathe, a look Xia Xiaonuan had never seen before, her gaze falling not far away, where Nangong Jinlie was watching her with a stern face and piercing eyes.

”Xiaonuan, grandfather returned rather abruptly this time, so neither you nor Ling’er knew,” Nangong Jinlie also offered a faint smile, extending his hand towards her, ”Come to grandfather’s side.”

Xia Xiaonuan nodded, feeling some unease, yet she still walked forward.

Nangong Jinlie grasped her hand with a somewhat coarse hand, lightly patting the back of her hand. His gaze also continuously assessed her face.

His eyes were sharp, as if studying something, staring at her for quite a while.

Until he sensed that Xia Xiaonuan felt a bit uncomfortable under his gaze, only then did he withdraw his eyes and chuckle softly, ”Hmm... indeed, you’re my Xiaonuan. I watched you grow up, Xiaonuan, do you remember?”

Xia Xiaonuan’s heart gave a jolt.

Her eyes involuntarily flicked towards Nangong Zhongli.
