The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 1263: Chapter 1284: Shaochen Liang Testifies (Part 1)

Nangong Yaoling looked at her, her face full of shyness and embarrassment, a hint of a smile flashed in his eyes.

At that moment, suddenly, a piercing police siren sounded from outside.

Xia Xiaonuan was slightly taken aback, raised her eyes, and looked out the window.

Several police cars were parked outside.

At this time, a bodyguard with a gloomy face stepped forward and said, ”Young Master, Young Mistress... a bunch of police are outside, saying something about child trafficking, they want to come in for an inspection.”

Xia Xiaonuan was slightly taken aback.

Nangong Yaoling frowned, ”What nonsense is this? Are they accusing me, Nangong Yaoling? Get them out of here!”

At that moment, the sound of a woman’s crying suddenly came from the restaurant entrance.

”My child... is inside! My child, let me in!”

Xia Xiaonuan could no longer eat and stood up from her chair.

What is going on?

Nangong Yaoling also stood up, glanced at Xia Xiaonuan.

Seeming to remember something, he asked, ”Where did you get this child from?”

Xia Xiaonuan replied in confusion, ”A... a woman asked me to look after him for a bit...”

”Let them in,” Nangong Yaoling said to the bodyguard.

”Yes, Young Master!”

The police led a middle-aged woman inside, who, upon seeing the child in the corner, ran over crying.

She snatched the child from the temporary ”nanny’s” arms.

”My child... Mommy finally found you!”

”Mommy...” The child smiled and called out upon seeing his mother.

Xia Xiaonuan was completely dumbfounded.

A police officer, accompanied by several others, approached Nangong Yaoling and Xia Xiaonuan, saying, ”We’re the police, we suspect you’re involved in a human trafficking case, please come with us for an investigation.”

Nangong Yaoling curled his lips into a cold smile.

”Investigate me? Is something wrong with your head?” he asked lazily, sitting in his chair coldly.

The officer looked at Nangong Yaoling, slightly taken aback.

The noble aura exuded from the man made him indeed not look like an ordinary person.

He seemed less like a human trafficker, and more like a young master from a distinguished family.

The officer was momentarily embarrassed and asked, ”Sir, could you tell us how this child came to be here?”

Qin Yi, seeing the situation, quickly stepped forward and said, ”Officer, you made a mistake, this child was entrusted to us to look after by someone else.”

”Yes.” Xia Xiaonuan, seeing the situation, also said excitedly, ”Wasn’t the woman just now the child’s mother? I thought she was the one who asked me to watch him, she said she was picking someone up... and would come to get the child soon.”

”You kidnapper! Why did you steal my child?!” A woman stepped forward, tearfully pointing hatefully at Xia Xiaonuan.

Nangong Yaoling’s gaze swept across the room.

The bodyguard quickly stepped forward to stop the woman.

”I didn’t...” Xia Xiaonuan explained anxiously, ”How could I possibly steal your child? I just lost a child myself, I know how it feels to lose a child, why would I steal someone else’s?!” She said this, looking aggrievedly first at the officer, then at Nangong Yaoling.

Nangong Yaoling frowned, a hint of sympathy flashed in his eyes, and he wrapped his arm around Xiaonuan’s waist.

”It’s okay.” He spoke in a low voice, looking at Xiaonuan’s nervous face, ”I’m here, it’ll be alright.”

Xia Xiaonuan clutched Nangong Yaoling’s sleeve, her eyes slightly reddening.

All she wanted was to help, how did she become a human trafficker?

”There are too many suspicious points in this matter.” The officer looked at Xia Xiaonuan, ”Miss, we need you to come with us to the station for further investigation.”

Xia Xiaonuan’s eyes widened in fear.

”She will not go with you.”
