After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World

”ELDER ANSEL!”

”ANSEL!”

Because it was one of the last battles—one where they had most to lose—everyone did their best from the get-go, and this was why so many fights concluded within a few minutes of the aegis crumbling.

Anyway, they were already inside their territory and more reinforcements and resources were available to them.

So when Vara arrived, both Futch and Hunt had been taken down, but the three men Ansel, Sean, and Orz were all exhausted as well.

Vara only needed to kick the other two and he easily pounded on Ansel, grabbing his face and dragging him near the entrance of the bunker.

One of the speedsters—who was there as part of the logistics/rescue team—tried to rescue Ansel, too, though he just ended up half-dead against a tree a few seconds later.

”This one’s an Elder, right?” he said, mocking his rival, who had yet to even touch one. ”I got one.”

He was about to tighten his hold on the redhead’s face when—

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

Three successive arrows flew in his direction, specifically coming in from a blind spot. They targeted the back of his arm, his shoulder, and his neck, respectively.

It happened very quickly and he didn’t even have the time to turn and throw the redhead to shield himself. However, a metallic sheet that followed the shape of his neck appeared to shield him from the attack, protecting him regardless.

The other two bounced off his equipment, though he could tell those shots caused his Class C defense equipment some damage. This indicated that the bow and arrow used was superior equipment.

Ansel quickly used this chance and used his remaining mana to propel himself with fire. He concentrated the elements on his feet to get out of the enemy’s grasp, while at the same time pointing them straight at his face to cause damage.

BOOM!

Ansel was propelled in a direction and Vara had no choice but to let go, taking in the fire blast directly.

This was a technique Ansel had learned a few months ago after a lot of practice, bruises, and wounds. While he could only propel himself for less than two meters a second, he was at least safe for now.

Vara tutted but did not have the chance to run after him because a new arrow came at him. This time it came from a different direction. He narrowed his eyes as he looked around, understanding that this was a skill.

The archer probably had [Triple Shot] and [Curved Shot] in his arsenal, which was a little impressive. However, to Vara—who was high-level, well-equipped, and had rich experience—it was not much.

Meanwhile, while Vara paused to look for the archer, the Alterrans did not waste this chance to attack him. Those who had already dealt with their enemies—such as Ansel, Sean, and Orz—lunged towards him after drinking what should be the last Health and mana potions in their spaces.

Thick vines immediately formed to grasp his feet, all the way to his knee. He then felt the ground crumble and sharp spikes instantaneously appeared around him, aiming to impale. Similarly, a burst of fire exploded, aiming straight at his face. The combination of the three elemental attack seemed to trap him.

BANG!

For a moment, everyone thought that he had been hit and would at least be injured. However, the smoke cleared and they saw him surrounded by a metal shell, instead!

And on this shell, sharp spikes emerged all over, forcing the trio to jump back, while also hitting a few collateral damage from both sides.

A lot of people were surprised, they didn’t even know he was an elementalist!!

The metallic shell disintegrated and revealed the strongman inside with a dark expression on his face. The technique definitely consumed some mana and his pride must’ve been hit because he had to use something like this in the first place—and so early, too.

However, Vara was not given a single moment to handle his annoyance because every available Alterran in the vicinity bravely rushed towards him, even those on the weaker side of the spectrum.

These people were overtly brave and stupid, and Vara gritted his teeth as he pushed, kicked around, and slashed his weapon, but also having no choice but to summon metallic spikes all around him because of the sheer passion in the attacks.

At this time, the elites like Sean and Orz had been spent, and could no longer use elements. However, even when they were limited to cold weapons, their barrage of attacks did not falter. They also cooperated with the others well so they didn’t hit each other by accident.

He injured at least half of those who came at him, but it didn’t make the others falter at all. They continued throwing him attacks, elements, and so on.

These bugs—

In the past minute, the number of attacks exchanged could’ve surpassed a long fight during an earlier part of the war.

He had no choice but to take out another mana potion, having to shield himself again because the potion itself was being targeted.

The metallic element was extremely powerful, but it was also extremely mana-consuming. It even consumed mana just to maintain a few kilograms of it.

After all, unlike other elements, one had to manifest a strong and sturdy element not readily available in nature. It was also why Vara didn’t like being so dependent on it, but now he was pushed to do so.

”GAH!” he screamed as he used a skill [Metallic Rain], causing thin needles to explode from his body.

There were screams of pain all around him and he felt satisfied. He was about to start hacking the bastards nearest him before he resumed hunting for the Lord.

However, he felt a movement from underground and jumped back. It was a small spike, but he realized that was a distraction.

The real attack was a platform created underneath where he landed, throwing him a few meters up in the air.

While in the air, another attack came at him. This time, he was unable to defend against it.

Whoosh!

”AH!” he yelled, realizing he had been hit by the arrow straight at the neck!

It did not completely pierce through, but it was extremely painful.

The earth user who sent him flying was none other than Jake, who had been handling Feller.

”Well, brave of you to turn your focus away from me!” Feller yelled, offended, as he used a skill to send a lethal attack.

Jake’s sudden shift of target made him vulnerable and allowed Feller to land a hit on his stomach. ”AH!”

This was the attack that ultimately destroyed his equipment, partially going through his body.

”Jake!” his teammates screamed, some attacking Feller to keep him from attacking, while others tried to get to Jake before it was too late.

Fortunately, before Feller could swing his weapon again for another slash, Essan the Speedster arrived just in time to pull Jake elsewhere to be treated.

Meanwhile, Vara landed on the ground with a flop, an arrowhead partially embedded in his neck.

However, he was surprisingly not as angry as before, because his eyes were fixed on a certain part of the mountain covered in vines.

”FOUND YOU!”
