My father sold me to the Mafia King

Chapter 310:

Steve’s POV

Jake’s features had already stiffened, and his gaze sharpened with intense, sweeping anxiety as he darted a look of denunciation and absolute rejection at my proposal. He took a quick step toward me to stop me and said in a dry, stern tone carrying total refusal and finality: ”What is this irresponsible talk, Steve? I will certainly not allow you to go anywhere else and move away from me!”

I calmly averted my gaze from his anxious face for a moment, then returned to fix my piercing eyes directly into the depths of his. I relaxed my tensed shoulders, sighing with heartbreak, and said: ”Jake... my friend, believe me, I will not be upset or angry at all if you truly want this and insist on it for my sake.”

Jake did not wait to hear the rest of my justifications; instead, he rushed toward me with a sudden, light speed, and extended his strong, solid arm to wrap it decisively around my neck, tightening his grip and muscles over me under his armpit in a rough, violent playfulness as was our habit. He pressed a little on my neck while smiling with challenge and mischievousness, saying: ”If you repeat or duplicate this cursed talk again, I will choke you with these two hands of mine!”

I twisted with a convulsion between his pressing hands in a desperate attempt to escape and free myself from him, and the palm of my hand moved with supernatural speed to descend downward. I gripped his ankle firmly and lifted it upward with all my strength and muscles, so his balance broke in a second, dragging me and my weight with him to fall together with the entire weight of our bodies onto the hard living room floor, producing a massive noise, chaos, and a storm of movement and collision.

I adjusted my seating on the floor with a rush and speed, and tossed the strands of my blonde hair with my hand while directing a sharp look at him full of mischievousness, rage, and brotherly defiance, and said: ”Do you truly want to fight and test your strength with me?”

Jake’s stiffened features relaxed and he burst into a loud, roaring laugh that filled the corners of the living room while he lay in full comfort on his back over the carpet. Then he delivered a light, playful punch to my shoulder and said with confidence and pride: ”I can certainly still overcome you and throw you to the ground, Steve, no matter how much you try.”

In the midst of our roaring laughter and our unsettled movement on the floor, the kitchen door opened in complete silence. We turned together quickly toward the source of the sound, only to find Julie standing at the threshold with a relaxed body and sleepy eyes filled with drowsiness and fatigue because of her staying up late. She knitted her eyebrows with distress and aversion, and said in a faint, raspy voice: ”What the hell is happening here with all this noise?”

I suppressed my laugh with difficulty, and tried to straighten and clean my disheveled shirt while I was still settled and sitting on the floor, and said with a fabricated innocence to calm her down: ”Nothing, my dear sister... we are just joking and spending some time.”

Julie tilted her head with sarcasm and a biting mockery, and scrutinized our bodies extended on the carpet with dry, cold looks, and crossed her arms over her chest with decisiveness, saying: ”Answer me... are you small children without a mind, or what?”

Jake waved his hand in the air with complete indifference and detachment, and averted his face from her toward the ceiling, saying with grumbling and distress: ”Go to sleep and give us relief from your face.”

Julie huffed with a slight emotion, saying: ”And did you leave anyone in this house who can sleep at all? You behave like small, irresponsible children!”

I rose from the floor with speed and flexibility, then advanced toward her with a warm smile and a clear attempt to appease her and wipe away her distress. I bent my head a little to approach her and said with affection: ”Julie... my dear sister, we are truly sorry for disturbing you.”

Jake violently stood up as well with a quick, agile movement from the floor, and darted a look of denunciation and anger at me, saying with shouting and disapproval: ”And why are you apologizing to her and begging her pardon in the first place, Steve?!”

Julie turned her entire torso quickly toward Jake, raised her chin with pride, haughtiness, and defiance, and the look of her eye tightened with victory as she said in a biting tone that slapped his pride: ”Because my brother is a respectable, well-mannered man who knows manners... and is not like you!”

Jake’s face convulsed entirely from rage and oppression, and he took a threatening, aggressive step toward her while narrowing the pupils of his eyes with evil, and asked her sharply and in an angry voice: ”What exactly do you mean by your words and your saying ’like you’, Julie?!”

Julie did not retreat backward a single inch because of his threat; rather, she fixed the looks of her green eyes into the depth of his face with insolence and said with a provocative coldness that tests the nerves: ”You know perfectly well inside you what I mean, Jake, so there is no need for clarification.”

I stepped with supernatural speed and stood as a stern barrier with my massive body between them to cut off the spark of the fight and clashing, and raised both of my palms with a decisive, final command to end this futile discussion, saying in a loud voice: ”Stop this nonsense right now! Come on... let everyone go to their room and sleep quietly.”

Julie sighed with distress and running out of patience, and averted her face with detachment, turning toward the long hallway while dragging her feet with fatigue, saying: ”I am going to my room indeed,” then she disappeared inside her room and closed the wooden door behind her firmly.

I turned my face toward Jake, only to find him rubbing his face and eyes with both of his hands from the excess of exhaustion and fatigue. He looked at me with withered features and shook his head with fatigue, saying with a light yawn: ”Come on, let’s sleep and end this long day... come on.”

I moved my head in agreement and satisfaction, and said thoughtfully while looking around the living room furniture: ”Tomorrow we must bring and buy an additional bed so we can sleep together comfortably in the same room without tightness.”

Jake waved his hand in objection, and moved with heavy, tired steps toward the large sofa and cast his body carelessly over it with fatigue, saying: ”I will sleep today on this sofa; you take the room.”

I stepped toward him with a rush and gripped his shoulder firmly, stopping him decisively and with strength, and said: ”Never... this will not happen. I will sleep here on the sofa, and you are the owner of the house.”

Jake adjusted his seating with a convulsion and distress and looked at me with a stern command, saying: ”Steve... listen to my words and go immediately to sleep in the room.”

I bent my body before him, fixed my stern looks, and ground out with an insistence that accepts no argument: ”Jake... you are indeed exhausted and tired from the road of travel to here... come on, go immediately to the room and I do not want to hear any objection from you!”

Jake contemplated the determined and solid features of my face for mere seconds, then surrendered to the matter and sighed deeply while rising with a heavy slowness. He patted my shoulder lightly, saying: ”Fine, as you wish, you stubborn one... goodnight and sweet dreams.”

The lines of my face and my muscles relaxed and I smiled at him quietly and said: ”Goodnight, my friend.”

I watched him with my eyes with steadfastness until he entered the room and closed the door in complete silence. Thereupon, I turned my body and headed toward the closet, and took out a comfortable pillow and a warm woolen blanket. Then I walked toward the large sofa, placed the pillow with arrangement and care, and extended with the entirety of my long, strong body over it, pulling the warm blanket over my chest, ready to close my eyelids and surrender to deep sleep.

Julie’s POV

I opened my eyes with extreme slowness as the first faint, pale streaks of dawn crept into the room, and felt a sharp heaviness and a headache in my head from the effect of my broken and anxious sleep throughout the night. I turned with my exhausted body toward the wooden side table and snatched my mobile phone with a trembling hand. I looked at its screen, and the time was already indicating six in the morning.

I sighed with distress and oppression and rose from my bed with heavy steps while adjusting the strands of my disheveled hair. My mind was burning and boiling with thoughts, and I found with conviction that I must speak and discuss with my brother Steve immediately and without delay; perhaps we could rent an independent apartment or another small house and we would not be forced again to live or tolerate that lowlife and provocative Jake in his place.

But soon my heart constricted with a bitter lump and a sadness that choked my breath as I walked tensely throughout the corners of the room; Steve, my brother, already works throughout the day with hardship and exhaustion, and I also work with effort in the flower shop, and I am even forced to sing in the hotel to earn money, and we can barely pay the electricity, water, food, and clothing bills with extreme difficulty and misery. I retreated with my steps and shook my head with regret and heartbreak; I would truly be a highly selfish and ungrateful woman if I asked him now to rent us a new house and burdened his shoulders with more expenses and debts that are beyond his physical capacity.

But at least, and within the narrowest boundaries, I must speak with him seriously so that he warns Jake in a stern manner against approaching toward me or trying to anger me with his actions, because I can indeed no longer tolerate his provocative and insolent movements.

I resolved my matter firmly and left my room with quiet, cautious steps so as not to wake anyone, and headed directly toward my brother Steve’s room. I pushed the door with lightness and flexibility and entered inside with determined features and serious looks. I found him sleeping in complete silence over the comfortable mattress, covering his entire body with the heavy blanket up to his head, and his features not a thing appeared from them at all, as was his habit.

I advanced toward the bed with slow steps, and sat on its edge slowly to be close to the position of his head hidden under the blanket. I bent with my torso a little downward and said in a low, sharp voice that nevertheless carried seriousness: ”Steve... wake up and rise immediately, I desperately want to speak to you and discuss with you the actions of that cursed Jake... listen to me well, I do not want him in any way to approach me or speak with me, and he must stay completely away from my path.”

No reply or movement came from him, and the massive body extended under the blanket did not move a single inch or show any interaction. I clamped my lips in rage and distress at his heavy sleep, and the look of my eye tilted toward the floor with sadness as I followed my talk with venting: ”I know perfectly well our difficult financial situation, my brother, therefore I will not be selfish and I will not ask you that we rent an independent house right now... but our presence with him in his house and under his mercy does not comfort me at all and chokes me.”

I waited for additional seconds to no avail or answer, so the features of my face convulsed with running out of patience and anger. I extended my palm and brought it down with a light, hurried strike on his covered shoulder and said in a higher and sharper tone: ”Steve, what is wrong with you, for heaven’s sake?! I am speaking with you on a fateful and important matter, and you ignore me in this terrifying manner!”

He did not reply either and remained lying with a suspicious rigidity and stiffening. My rage doubled and my eyes ignited with anger, so I gripped the edges of the blanket firmly with my palms and tried and felt a desire to strip it and pull it off his head with force to face him. But I was surprised with astonishment that he was holding onto the heavy blanket from the inside with a tightness and strength that prevented me from shifting it a single inch. I retreated with my body backward a little, knitted my eyebrows with a burning nervousness, and said with defiance and rage: ”Are you doing this childish action intentionally right now for the sake of angering and provoking me? Fine... I will show you how you indeed rise and listen to me!”

In a single second of blind rage and rushing, I jumped with my entire body and weight over him on the bed, leaning and resting with my knees on both sides of the waist of the stabbed and lying person beneath me powerfully. I gripped the edges of the blanket with a crazy, violent movement and shouted with emotion: ”Rise, come on, without laziness, and listen to me indeed!”

Suddenly, and at that critical, shocking moment, the door of the room opened with violence and strength. I turned my head with supernatural speed and eyes widened in panic and astonishment to see who was the coming one at the threshold at this time... and as soon as the sight of my eye fell upon the knocking person standing at the threshold of the door, I froze in my place entirely like a statue.

Every muscle and movement in my body was paralyzed over that solid, massive, and broad body that was already beneath me, and the color of my face turned pale with a terrifying shock that shook my entity, and I uttered in a faltering astonishment, not believing what my eyes were seeing: ”St... Steve?!”
