641: Chapter 637: The Dead Forest Ancient City 641: Chapter 637: The Dead Forest Ancient City Wang Simeng turned her head, and her icy gaze fell on Lin Tian.

She decided to take Lin Tian along to Ruins Ridge.

The two young men standing behind, He Tianci and Ximen You, agreed with Wang Simeng’s words and nodded slightly in approval.

They had never been to Ruins Ridge, but they had heard from their sect about its extreme dangers—having an extra guide meant extra security.

This time, the trio had left the mountain gate to gain experience and, halfway, received news that a treasure had emerged from Ruins Ridge, reportedly the discovery of an ancient site.

All along the way, they had searched and found their way here, to the Ancient Artifact Original Stone Field by Muaix Lake, where Situ Xiu was.

Now, at last, they had found Situ Xiu.

Before they had entered, they thought Situ Xiu was scolding Lin Tian, assuming the two were in cahoots.

That was why Wang Simeng had decided to bring Lin Tian along.

“Let’s go!”

He Tianci glanced coldly at Situ Xiu and Lin Tian, and commanded in a stern voice.

“Alright, alright…

I’m leaving now!”

Situ Xiu, with panic on his face, replied repeatedly and thumped out of the mountain villa private room, his body mountainous as he led the way.

Ruins Ridge?

Judging by the situation, those stones containing Low-grade Spirit Stones must have come from Ruins Ridge!

Well then, this is a good opportunity to take a look on the way!

Lin Tian made up his mind, took a deep look at Wang Simeng and the others, and followed them out, catching up with Situ Xiu.

Lin Tian naturally held no fear toward the trio of Wang Simeng.

However, now that Low-grade Spirit Stones had appeared in Ruins Ridge, there was no need to provoke conflict with the trio before that.

The trio hailed from Wind Mountain, which surprised Lin Tian somewhat.

Fengming Mountain was one of the sects in the Yelang Cultivation Domain, albeit a small one.

From Yu Jinhe, he had also learned that the strongest cultivator in the Yelang Cultivation Domain was merely at the mid-stage of Foundation Establishment, truly weak.

And the cultivation of these three in front of him was even less noteworthy.

Hee Tianci, Qi Refining Ninth Level!

Ximen You, Qi Refining Stage Seventh Level!

Wang Simeng, Qi Refining Eighth Level!

Such cultivation levels would qualify them as core disciples in a normal sect.

Yet in Lin Tian’s eyes, they were as weak as ants, erasable with a flick of his finger.

But now that he could proceed smoothly to Ruins Ridge, he couldn’t be bothered to act.

Acquiring Spirit Stones was what mattered most.

The group left the mountain villa and followed Situ Xiu to a modified vehicle, huge like a giant beast.

One could tell at a glance that the off-road vehicle was modified, more than twice the size of a normal one.

The vehicle belonged to Situ Xiu, who, with his physique, couldn’t fit inside without modifications.

“You sit in the back, be good, and we won’t make things difficult for you!

Otherwise, even if you are a common person from the ordinary world, this lady will certainly not be lenient!”

Wang Simeng pointed to the rear seat of the off-road vehicle, rebuking Lin Tian.

Lin Tian glanced at the girl, remained silent, and took his seat in the back.

Not long after.

Situ Xiu drove the off-road vehicle, carrying Wang Simeng and the others, away from Muaix Lake, along the national highway, heading north.

In the car, Lin Tian listened to the conversation of the group and learned that Ruins Ridge was located within the borders of Xiangjiang Province, in the northern part of Guixi Province.

Xiangjiang Province bordered Guixi, and after entering Xiangjiang Province, they weren’t far from Xiangyang National Forest Park.

Ruins Ridge was situated within Xiangyang National Forest Park!

Wang Simeng and the other two had known that Ruins Ridge was inside the forest park, but they were clueless about the exact location.

Without a guide, searching for a specific ridge in such a vast forest park was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Moreover, they had no idea exactly which mountain or location Boss Situ had mined the raw stones from.

Therefore, a guide was essential!

The SUV traveled northwards along the national highway and didn’t enter the boundaries of Xiangjiang Province until nightfall, finally arriving in Xiangyang City.

However, Wang Simeng and her group had Boss Situ keep driving further north.

Xiangyang National Forest Park was about ten kilometers north of Xiangyang City.

In the dead of the night,

the vehicle entered the forest park, and darkness, like a ferocious beast, engulfed the group whole.

At the same time, Boss Situ stopped the car.

“Fellow Daoists, we indeed collected a batch of raw stones at Ruins Ridge, but I don’t know the exact route.

We need to ask a local old hunter to lead the way!” stopped the car and turned back to Wang Simeng and the others with a wry smile, explaining, “It was that old hunter who led me last time that allowed us to collect a batch of fine raw stones.

Unfortunately, it was just the one batch before something happened.

We triggered a Killing Array, and several of us died.

We hurriedly retreated back!”

Killing Array?

Wang Simeng exchanged glances with Hee Tianci and Ximen You, both showing a gleam in their eyes.

The presence of an array suggested that treasures could indeed exist.

“Let’s find that old hunter now; we’ll make haste through the night!”

Wang Simeng gestured for Boss Situ to continue driving, heading for the old hunter’s home.

The old hunter lived in a small village near the forest park, and Boss Situ directly woke him up, leaving him with no choice but to get up, a hunting rifle slung over his shoulder.

The old hunter, named Zhao Dayun, seemed to be in his sixties, his face covered in wrinkles, appearing quite world-weary.

He was a widower in the village who had lived off hunting for most of his life, and he knew the ins and outs of the forest park very well.

“Boss Situ, you’re here to torment this old bag of bones again!”

Zhao Dayun emerged carrying his hunting rifle, saying with a wry smile.

“Elder Zhao, please help us out!” Pleaded Boss Situ.

His demeanor was exceptionally humble as he spoke with a smile, “Don’t worry, Elder Zhao, you’ll be well compensated.

This time, one million!

It’s not the ten thousand we gave you last time, it’s one million!

That’s enough for you to marry a few wives, have a few sons.

You wouldn’t need to spend every year alone!”

“One million?

Done!”

Zhao Dayun’s eyes lit up, and he quickly agreed.

However, after getting in the car, he said with a wry smile, “Marrying a wife, I’ll pass on that.

This old body of mine can’t handle the torment from any women, and besides, who’d be willing to marry me?

I’d rather use this money to improve the food for the kids in the village, and save some for their university tuition.

I’ve heard that in the outside world, going to college is really expensive!”

“Done!

Elder Zhao is kind-hearted, and I, the fatty, admire you for that!

But we’ll have to trouble you, Elder Zhao, once more to lead the way to Ruins Ridge!”

In the car, Boss Situ respectfully addressed Zhao Dayun again.

As for Wang Simeng and the others, they merely gave Zhao Dayun a glance before falling silent.

They didn’t care who led the way as long as someone did.

As for Lin Tian, he remained mostly silent throughout the journey, to the others, he might as well have been air.

“Ah, I just can’t understand why you’re heading to that place again.”

Seeing the others remaining silent, Zhao Dayun let out a long sigh and shook his head, saying, “Ruins Ridge, to reach it you have to venture into the deepest part of the forest park, through the Soul-breaking Abyss, and reach the Dead Forest.

There, you’d see a stretch of low, continuous hills extending for hundreds of miles — that is Ruins Ridge.

Deep inside, there’s an endless forest, housing an ancient relic!

I remember the first time my grandfather mentioned it, he called that place Dead Forest Relics, which was an incredibly ominous place, one not to be entered!

And our old village has legends about the Dead Forest Relics, saying something about a Demon Spirit falling there, not to be approached, else the spirit will possess you, cursing your life with unrest!”

All ears perked up when the old hunter spoke of such strange matters.

Lin Tian and the rest couldn’t help but look surprised, listening intently.

Noticing their attention, Zhao Dayun let out another soft sigh and said with a bitter smile, “Alas, when I was young and impetuous, I didn’t believe in such odd tales!

After learning hunting skills from my grandfather, I ventured into the Dead Forest alone and discovered an ancient city there.

However, I couldn’t enter it.

It seemed like something was blocking the way.

When I went there a second time, I couldn’t see the ancient city anymore, just a strange stone mortar in front of the forest…

After that, I never went back.

As the years passed, my health declined, and this life seemed, indeed, cursed by a Demon Spirit, fated to remain a lonely man…

So, that place is ominous!

If you’re willing to listen, it would be best to turn back now.

It doesn’t matter for an old man like me, but you are all still young…”
