One-Eyed Monster

Igor thought to himself, this attack level is escalating too quickly, why didn’t it do this before, it would have helped him adapt faster!

Complaining aside, this moment was definitely not a time to be careless. Threats were coming from both sides, and Fire Arrows kept shooting his way. Relying on footwork to dodge was impossible, full-body defense was the only option now.

Igor flicked his wrist, lowering the sword in his hand, then thrust out his chest. With a clanging sound, his body was suddenly enveloped by red and white armor made of Spirit Power, and this armor was surrounded by something like a protective shield.

It was precisely this shield that warded off the attacks coming from both sides!

”Hmm?” The monster was obviously surprised, then stared at Igor for a moment and said, ”How come the Slayer Helmet is on you?”

”What business is it of yours?” Igor didn’t even want to bother with this monster. He gripped his sword with both hands and slashed down hard, facing a giant arm formed of Smoke in front of him.

Boom! This strike scattered the Smoke, and Igor began to reassess this monster. He originally thought the monster’s controlled Puppets could only perform simple physical attacks, but never expected these Puppets to also have skills. More annoyingly, it seemed like the Puppets had some awareness, moaning in torment. Evidently being controlled was anything but pleasant. No, describing it as torment doesn’t even fully capture it.

”Did you devour Slayer Kuren? What kind of person are you? Why can you devour Spirit Cores!” The monster bombarded Igor with a series of questions, seemingly very interested in Igor’s defense ability.

Igor felt quite displeased after hearing this. He wasn’t any Soul Devourer or anything! This technique of armor was taught to him by Senior Kuren, how could it have anything to do with devouring!

”Devour you? Nonsense!” Igor sent a Sword Qi to repel the attacking Ruben, then swung a whip kick towards the hulking Grim.

”Nice Physique Technique, being able to capture the Spirit Core of a Slayer, you must have some substantial skills,” the monster said, watching Igor intently without loosening his focus at all.

”First of all, that’s Senior Kuren, not any Slayer Kuren, and besides, I neither steal nor rob, much less talk about capturing and devouring!” Facing four opponents alone, Igor didn’t seem to be at a disadvantage and kept interacting with this monster.

At this time, Kadi was receiving the short sword handed over by Master Lao, his eyes full of disbelief.

Clang—Igor’s sword collided with the massive axe coming down, sparks flying everywhere, and the Meteor Sword let out a low hum.

Master Lao was satisfied, lighting his pipe, having crafted two weapons today, feeling very pleased!

The smoking elder suddenly exhaled a large amount of Smoke, swirling like a tornado towards Igor.

Igor blocked it with a powerful swing of his arm, the Slayer Helmet on him emitted a shockwave, directly holding back the Smoke. A ripping sound, as the Smoke dispersed, the smoking elder spat out a mouthful of blood.

”The Slayer Helmet on you, I want it!” The monster licked its lips, its voice filled with greed.

”You wish to learn, but I have no interest in teaching you.” Igor cleaved through a Firewall with a mighty strike, revealing Sims hidden behind it, who crashed to the ground!

”Your friend is fighting alone!” Master Lao exhaled a smoke ring and said to Kadi, who was staring blankly at the weapons.

”Uh, I almost forgot about that.” Kadi suddenly snapped out of it, realizing there were still enemies outside. By this time, Igor was already entangled with several Rubens.

”Try your dual blades, and remember to give them a good name.” Master Lao looked at the scene of the skirmish outside the smithy, took another puff of his pipe, as if this scene was nothing new to him!

”Butterflies always fly with two wings, heh heh, I’ll call my dual blades Butterfly then.” Kadi said and then unfolded his dual blades, dancing among the flowers like a butterfly.

The shadows of the blades fluttered like butterflies flapping their wings, beautifully unpredictable.

”He’s not fighting alone!” Kadi put away his blades and flipped several times in the air.

When Kadi landed steadily on the ground, the Ruben clones surrounding Igor all vanished one by one, clearly all struck down by Kadi’s dual blades.

Igor and Kadi stood side by side, the four people made of Smoke were temporarily pushed back several steps.

This made the monster click its tongue in wonder, ”Indeed a rare sight, to even see the shadow of a Blue Blood League Guard’s blade soul, today’s harvest seems quite abundant!”

”What’s he mumbling about?” Kadi turned his head to ask Igor, evidently not used to the monster’s self-talk.

”Maybe this guy’s sick!” Igor replied, now feeling very secure with an ally like Kadi, no matter how formidable the enemy might be.

”Oh, by the way, I owe you an apology, I wrongfully accused you. You really didn’t secretly forge a sword, it truly is a gift from Master Lao.”

”Hehe, no problem. What’s your weapon called?”

”Butterfly!”

”A good choice!”

”Thanks!”

Kadi and Igor started chatting, completely ignoring the feelings of the monster.

”Aren’t you two feeling happy too early?” The monster couldn’t stand it anymore, being ignored, and they were chatting right in front of him!

”Not at all, we’ve always been happy!” Igor turned to face the monster, frowning deeply, a look of confusion across his face.

The monster was momentarily speechless, stopping his attack and letting out a laugh, ”Haha, I never expected I’d be disdained by a Puppet Master in a place like this!”

”Oh, so you’re called Puppet Master!” Igor realized, nodding, ”No wonder you can manipulate these fellows.”

”These lackeys are too dumb, so dumb I don’t even want them now. But, I still have to use their stupidity to capture you. Once you become my puppet lackeys, everything will be easy.”

”So, you can’t do anything without puppets?” Igor probed, finding that these monsters always had a fatal weakness, which was easily revealed after a few lines of dialogue. But it seemed these monsters began to muse, and Igor suddenly felt bored.

”How could I have no puppets, you little brat think too simply, hahaha.”

”What are you laughing at?” Kadi grew impatient, his newly forged dual blades hadn’t exhausted their edge yet.

”Because I’m genuinely happy!” The monster laughed again.

”See, I said he’s sick, now you should believe me, right?” Igor pointed at the monster and shrugged at Kadi.

”I believe you, you always tell the truth, you can’t possibly lie.”
