One-Eyed Monster

Igor certainly hadn’t expected Kadi to send him to this place. It wasn’t that he resented Kadi for dropping him onto the battlefield; he was just surprised Kadi possessed such a skill! Given his current strength, even in peak condition, he would stand no chance against these armies, let alone resist them.

Yet, Igor felt an overwhelming power coursing through him. Being in such an environment, he too could sense the honor that drove others, an honor that compelled him to fight fearlessly.

”I am willing to sacrifice my life to protect this sacred land!” Igor found himself shouting passionately.

The dark Death Knights began to surround him, slowly and deceptively non-threatening, just as when they encircled others. Before one could realize it, escape would become futile.

Igor hadn’t forgotten Kadi’s instructions; through their previous exchange, he’d thoroughly understood Kadi’s intentions. Kadi’s meaning was clear: don’t get entangled with the enemy; evade them directly.

Kadi felt they currently lacked the conditions for a direct confrontation. But for some reason, everyone else had unreservedly chosen to fight. Perhaps it was the classic case of ’those involved are blind, while onlookers see clearly.’ Kadi, having always been an Observer, usually perceived things more thoroughly than others. Therefore, Kadi’s suggestion hadn’t been made lightly.

Thinking about it now, Igor realized the situation was actually quite simple; they had just managed to overcomplicate it. No, perhaps it wasn’t that they had overcomplicated it, but rather that they had fallen into the enemy’s trap. Perhaps the enemy was using this method to provoke them; their emotions were precisely what the enemy wanted to exploit. Once emotions were controlled, a person could be swayed. This was a very simple principle. And this Dark Force seemed quite adept at controlling others’ emotions. No, it should be said that it was adept at absorbing others’ emotions. This method was quite unique and had caused Igor and the others considerable suffering. However, Igor and his companions still had no way to deal with this.

As Igor recalled his discussions with Kadi, Kadi’s questions flooded his mind once again.

They were currently at a disadvantage, a very obvious one. Powerhouses like Kevin could still cut down swathes of Death Knights, while those like himself could only keep evading... Igor knew they couldn’t go on like this. But for Kadi to just abandon him in this place was a bit too much. He was no match for these Death Knights; how was he supposed to cause a disturbance? In Igor’s world, there were relatively few ways to cause trouble. He felt that to create a stir in this environment, one needed formidable personal strength.

Why did he think so? Because in Igor’s view, to cause a sensation here, it was useless if you couldn’t command respect. If your strength was average, you would only be crushed by these Death Knights. Once crushed, you’d practically cease to exist, so how could you even talk about causing a disturbance...? But being powerful was different. When your strength surpassed everyone else’s, you couldn’t avoid causing a commotion even if you wanted to. Think about it, would these dark Death Knights even be your opponents then? Obviously not. At that point, you could cause a commotion by just lifting a finger... If you were willing, you could instantly eliminate these dark Death Knights, just like Kevin. That’s why Igor felt Kevin must have already attracted the Dark Force’s utmost attention. After all, his blade was too fast, so fast that those Death Knights couldn’t keep up with his rhythm at all.

Igor wished he lacked such inclinations toward fighting; then he could have properly implemented Kadi’s plan.

However, Igor was unaware that Kadi’s thoughts were not the same as his.

When Kadi had instructed Igor to create a diversion, he hadn’t meant for him to use combat to draw attention. In that respect, Kadi considered Igor truly weak.

Kadi was currently atop the Fire Tree Silver Flower, tirelessly working to bridge connections. The Dark Force’s current method of attack was formidable; it was imperceptibly isolating those who had already been connected. The branches of the Fire Tree Silver Flower had been gleaming brightly, but now the white light on some had dimmed. Others were flickering, seemingly on the verge of fading completely.

To bring these individuals back into this world of resistance, Kadi could only act like a woodpecker, constantly repairing this Fire Tree Silver Flower...

In the meantime, he was also keeping an eye on Igor, but Igor’s performance was proving disappointing.

He was even a little puzzled. Igor clearly couldn’t defeat these Death Knights, so why was he still lingering there, taking a beating? Run, you idiot!

Though Kadi desperately wanted to remind Igor, he truly couldn’t spare the attention right now.

Let fate take its course. Igor would have to fend for himself.

Nevertheless, deep down, Kadi still felt that Igor would be able to grasp his true intentions.

In fact, Igor had grasped Kadi’s intentions, but the method he adopted was not Kadi’s.

Igor was still more inclined towards direct confrontation. Even if it was about causing trouble or a diversion, he believed it had to be done openly. That was why he pinned his hopes on his own strength increasing.

Kadi, however, wouldn’t concern himself with such trivialities. He only knew that regardless of the method, as long as one didn’t act according to the enemy’s intentions, it would naturally vex them.

These insights were the result of Kadi’s years of observation on Guru Mountain.

You see, on Guru Mountain, he had spent most of his time opposing Kevin. Each act of rebellion would throw Kevin into a rage. Over time, Kadi naturally discovered the essence of disrupting an opponent’s rhythm.

There was a period when Kadi was in charge of the harvested grain stored on Guru Mountain. It was during that time he encountered sparrows, and those sparrows left a profound impression on him.

The sparrows were small and not nearly as ferocious as eagles, yet they were very daring, constantly coming to pilfer the grain.

Kadi would chase one away, only for another to come; chase that one away, and a whole flock would return...

This relentless cycle greatly annoyed Kadi. These sparrows were no match for him at all, but the infuriating thing was that they never bothered to engage. The moment he approached, they would fly off; the moment he left, they would return...

Back then, Kadi realized these sparrows were exploiting the very fact that he couldn’t catch them to continuously harass him. Naturally, the sun-drying grain wouldn’t all be stolen by this handful of sparrows, but their constant flying back and forth to attack the grain was truly exasperating.

When Kadi asked Igor to cause a commotion, he actually wanted Igor to be like these sparrows: dart in to snatch some grain from time to time, and then immediately fly away.

With this kind of sparrow-style harassment, Kadi refused to believe the Dark Force would remain indifferent.
