One-Eyed Monster

Kadi’s reminder jolted everyone awake from their state of confusion.

But at this moment, a wild wind rose up across the entire Guru Mountain. The snowflakes floating in the sky intensified, the snow grew heavier, and the already dark sky became even darker.

The howling wind, accompanied by a trembling song, made everything sound incredibly eerie.

”What...” Kevin and the others looked at each other in confusion. They didn’t understand what was wrong with the Moonflow Stream’s song. Could it be afraid of this heavy snow?

It shouldn’t be. Guru Mountain had experienced blizzards like this before. During those times, the Moonflow Stream’s song was still as clear and pleasant as usual.

So why is it trembling now? Could it really be that something bizarre is approaching?

Kevin and the others felt frustrated. Why was Kadi the first to sense this anomaly?

Usually, Kadi was slow to react to environmental changes. When he detected an anomaly, things would often have already progressed significantly. However, this time, Kadi noticed the disturbance just as things began to change. What was going on?

Could it be that Kadi had really matured?

Kevin found this thought somewhat comforting.

However, comfort aside, they still had to deal with the situation. They couldn’t just stay here, lost in thought.

Always being on the defensive made him quite uncomfortable, but he felt helpless. He wasn’t Xiso, a Scholar who could see the bigger picture; he was just a Soldier who preferred to face enemies head-on.

Yet, the enemy never showed up, which was infuriating.

He found these sneaky tactics incredibly tiresome.

Now, however, a violent wind was howling, and snowflakes as large as goose feathers were falling; it was obvious a fierce storm was approaching.

The blizzard had arrived.

Fighting an unknown enemy in this blizzard would be truly dreadful.

Kevin looked at his companions; helplessness was evident on everyone’s faces.

The blizzard itself wasn’t scary; what was frightening was the thought of what other troubles it might bring.

Looking at everyone, Kadi felt he had finally done something he wanted to do: warn the Soldiers who were still captivated by the strange occurrences!

Even though it was just a blizzard for now, the Moonflow Stream’s strange song had already told him that the events to follow would be far from simple.

Everyone had become vigilant; they instinctively formed a circle. Only Hustace, with a terrified look on his face, stood in the middle of the circle. He felt out of place, so he walked up to Igor within the circle.

Hustace asked in a low voice, ”What’s happening? Why has everyone suddenly become so cautious?”

”SHHH...” Igor signaled Hustace to be quiet. This blizzard isn’t normal, he thought. Even though the snow is getting heavier and the wind stronger, there’s no chill at all. That’s rather odd.

Regardless, the sudden arrival of the blizzard had caught them completely off-guard.

The blizzard was intense, and snow quickly piled upon the group huddled in their circle. While brushing the snowflakes off, they kept a careful watch on their surroundings.

Even though they were constantly on guard, their experience told them the real storm hadn’t arrived yet.

The enemy could strike at any moment; they had to be ready to react instantly.

Perhaps the enemy had studied them thoroughly, knowing everyone’s strengths and weaknesses, so their attacks would be perfectly targeted.

As for themselves, they still had no idea what kind of enemy they were facing.

The snowstorm raged on. The trembling song seemed to warn those near the Moonflow Stream not to linger in one place for too long. They had to constantly adapt and change; only then could they defeat the approaching army...

Only Kadi could now understand the song’s meaning, but the heavy snow made it impossible for him to convey it to those around him.

The blizzard devours everything. Therefore, if they remained passive on the mountain, there was a real chance they would be swallowed by it.

However, Wizard Reed’s attack was not as simple as just a blizzard. There was no need for him to plunge himself into complete darkness for a mere snowstorm.

This blizzard was merely his prelude; the real storm had yet to begin.

The Malice Spirit Entities he had released might not be fully utilized yet, but they were incredibly crucial at this moment.

Although his Dark Arts weren’t as comprehensive as Boss Willem’s, they still had their unique features.

Wizard Reed excelled at creating Soul Puppets. Right now, he had many Malice Spirit Entities at his disposal. More importantly, he could create new Soul Puppets here—enhanced Soul Puppets. As long as these Soul Puppets were created within his predetermined timeframe, his real storm would truly begin.

This was just an appetizer, but even this appetizer had to cause these guys a fair amount of trouble.

Snowmen…

Wizard Reed didn’t want to rehash old tactics, but this previously used method was now assigned a critical task. Only after these snowmen were deployed would things feel slightly different; only then would the entire blizzard gain its true significance. However, these snowmen were upgraded versions.

These snowmen needed to buy Wizard Reed time—time to create his Soul Puppets.

So, when these snowmen rose to their feet again, the people on Guru Mountain, still huddled in their circle, erupted in complaints.

”What’s going on, these snowmen again? How many times are they going to show up?”

”Can these snowmen appear in such numbers? They’ve already appeared once, why don’t they give up?”

”I thought some different enemy would appear, but it’s just these same old snowmen we always encounter!”

It seemed the people on Guru Mountain still hadn’t noticed the changes in these snowmen.

Feeling the Spirit Power Feedback, Wizard Reed experienced an indescribable sensation in his heart, but he chose to remain cautious and continued creating his Soul Puppets.

No one should be underestimated, including myself.

Deep down, Wizard Reed knew that only by taking his opponents seriously would they, in turn, take him seriously.

If he constantly believed he could win a fight through sheer luck, he might as well not fight at all. Ignoring even the smallest detail could allow the seeds of failure to sprout.

So, these snowmen... they’re just the beginning of the storm!
