”Your friendship is our most precious treasure. —The Defender Warriors”

—

Compared to the [Sunlight Talisman], this insignia was more offensively oriented.

The ”Evil-Shattering Spear” was a variant of the ”Sunlight Gun” once used by Joyina, enhanced to deal greater damage to enemies of the evil alignment. Its power was formidable.

After presenting the insignia, a symbol of the Sun Church’s profound friendship, Pastor Reed’s solemn expression did not relax. Instead, he turned to the sisters Xia and Xina, who stood quietly to the side, unable to hide their curiosity and concern.

”Mr. Jon.”

”Xia and Xina, as devout followers of our Lord and promising young Monks specially cultivated by the Church, possess undeniable talent. In the way of Divine Techniques, they have already surpassed us old folks.”

”However, true Power stems not only from faith but must also be tempered by the trials of real combat and enlightened by wisdom.”

He looked at Jon again, his eyes holding the gravity of a formal entrustment.

”In light of your extraordinary bond with our Lord, the combat wisdom and fearless character you have displayed, and the great service you have rendered in Birch Town, I hereby propose that for the coming days, you allow Xia and Xina to temporarily accompany you.”

As soon as he said this, a flicker of surprise crossed not only Jon’s face but Ingram’s as well.

No one had expected this seemingly rigid and stern Priest to make such an arrangement.

Reed continued to explain.

”On one hand, they have already fought alongside you in past battles and have established a mutual trust. It would be more convenient to have them assist in your protection, relay messages, or handle affairs between you and the Church.”

”After all, you are now a ’Friend of the Sun’.”

As he spoke, he gave a slight nod, his gaze falling on the insignia in Jon’s hand.

”On the other hand, they are still very young. Their practical combat experience, adaptability, and understanding of the nature of Power still need to be honed. To follow a Warrior like you—one who is so experienced and has created miracles—and to witness firsthand how you think, how you make decisions, and how you break through predicaments would be a rare opportunity for their growth.”

He paused, looking at Jon with a sincere attitude.

”Of course, if you feel it would be an inconvenience, or if they interfere with your actions, the Church can recall them at any time.”

”But if you are willing to accept them and offer some guidance, the Church and I personally would be deeply honored and would forever remember your kindness.”

”Wow!!!”

Before Reed had even finished speaking, Xia couldn’t help but cry out in surprise. Her golden eyes shone like stars, and her small face was filled with incredulous joy.

She jumped up and down on the spot, tightly grabbing her younger sister Xina’s arm and shaking it excitedly.

”Xina! Did you hear that? Pastor Reed said we can go with Mr. Jon!”

Compared to her older sister’s unconcealed excitement, Xina was equally thrilled but expressed it with more restraint.

She tried to maintain a calm expression, but her eyes, nearly identical to her sister’s, also sparkled with a brilliant light.

She first gave her sister’s hand a light squeeze, signaling for her to calm down, before solemnly offering a standard Monk’s salute to Pastor Reed and Jon.

”We humbly accept your arrangement, Pastor Reed. We will not fail this trust. While protecting Mr. Jon, we will learn from his wisdom and Power.”
