Chapter 159: Chapter 157: Those Who Blaspheme ”Deities

Midia’s eyes looked as if they would split from their sockets, his voice sharp and distorted with extreme fury.

”Reckless talk?”

Jon raised an eyebrow, his tone growing even more mocking.

”I’m just stating a fact.”

”An old Frost Sub-dragon, relying on a few cheap tricks and the faith of you fools whose brains have clearly been frozen solid, wants to vie for divinity? That’s beyond laughable.”

He pulled back the tip of his blade from the ice shell and rested it on his shoulder, his posture casual.

”Even with ten times the guts, your Dragon God wouldn’t dare extend its claws into the heart of the Empire.”

”So, old man,”

Jon’s voice suddenly turned cold.

”Save your breath. Your god doesn’t frighten me, and your curses can’t harm a single hair on my head. Rather than yapping here, you should be thinking about how to die with your body intact.”

”You... you... PTUI!”

Provoked by the series of taunts, Midia’s Qi and Blood roiled within him. He could no longer suppress the blood rising in his throat and spat a mouthful violently against the inner wall of the ice shell, where it instantly froze into a startling, crimson flower of ice.

His emaciated body trembled violently, and the venom in his eyes gave way to a dead stillness born of absolute despair and madness.

’Words... Before this blasphemer, all words were useless.’

’Staying here any longer was pointless, except to be slaughtered like a chicken.’

Moreover, the man’s brazen confidence drenched his soul like a basin of ice water. He knew this man truly didn’t care, that he possessed no sense of awe whatsoever.

’Threats were useless against someone like him.’

”Heh... heh heh...”

A hoarse laugh, like air from a broken bellows, escaped the withered man’s throat, filled with despair and self-mockery.

He stared fixedly at Jon, as if trying to etch the man’s face into the very depths of his soul.

”Remember... remember this day... Candela’s wrath... will eventually descend... in a way you cannot possibly imagine... I... will be waiting for you... in Hell!”

He used the last of his strength to let out a venomous roar.

The moment his voice faded, a resolute madness flashed in Midia’s eyes.

He suddenly bit through the tip of his tongue, spraying a mix of essence blood and frigid Energy onto the Runes on the inner wall of the ice shell.

At the same time, his withered hands formed several twisted and bizarre Dharma Seals at a speed that defied his limits.

VWOOM—!

The thick ice shell enveloping him suddenly erupted with a blinding, ethereal blue light!

A chill far more intense than before—one that felt as if it could freeze time and space itself—instantly burst forth, forming a visible shockwave of frost that violently expanded outward!

Jon’s eyes narrowed. He shot backward, simultaneously bringing his shield up to block.

BOOM!

The frost shockwave slammed into his shield with a deafening thud. The immense force sent Jon sliding back several meters in mid-air before he stabilized himself.

A thick layer of white frost instantly coated the surface of his Crystal Scorpion Armor, which crackled as it froze over.

The surrounding air temperature plummeted, and large icicles rapidly formed on the ground.

When the ethereal blue light dissipated, all that remained was a large, smooth, hemispherical crater of ice. Midia, along with the life-saving ice shell, had vanished without a trace, leaving only a lingering, bone-chilling cold and the faint scent of blood in the air.

”Tsk, that old turtle sure runs fast.”

Jon flicked the frost from his blade, looked at the empty ice crater, and curled his lip.

’This kind of self-harming teleportation Secret Technique is extremely rare. For that guy to have a move like this makes him quite an anomaly.’

’But even if he didn’t die this time, he’s definitely crippled. After causing such a loss for the Eternal Frost Sect, it’s doubtful he’d even dare to return and face the brutal internal competition, let alone cause any more trouble for me.’

’By the time that guy stages a comeback, I, Jon, will only be stronger, enough to drive him further into despair.’

And with Midia’s disappearance, the remaining forces of the Eternal Frost Sect lost their final pillar of support.

The Frost Scale Young Dragon, which had been fiercely battling Big Mimi and Xia, seemed to sense the Priest’s escape and the complete reversal of the battlefield situation. It let out an anxious growl, its attacks noticeably weakening as a desire to retreat began to show in its icy blue, vertical pupils.

And without the command of the High Tier Cultists and Midia’s support, the remaining Eternal Frost Cultists descended into chaos.

Some of them were still madly charging the defensive line commanded by Vedri and Julian, screaming slogans about sacrificing themselves for Candela. Others had completely broken down, dropping their weapons and trying to flee into the depths of the snowstorm. And still others stood blankly in place like soulless puppets, allowing the Warhammers of the Defender Army and the blades of the Trade Hall Guards to strike them down.

Jon scanned the battlefield, his gaze passing over the small fry and landing on the Frost Scale Young Dragon.

”Everyone, don’t let these Cultists escape! Leave this young dragon to us!”

His voice cut through the chaotic battlefield, reaching Vedri’s and Julian’s ears clearly.

The two of them naturally agreed without a moment’s hesitation.

Jon’s return had instantly reversed the unfavorable situation and saved all of Birch Town. How could they refuse to help?

Vedri let out a furious roar and led his elite guards forward like a tiger pouncing on its prey, savagely charging the Cultists who were attempting a last-ditch resistance.

Julian, meanwhile, raised his Holy Emblem high. Pure Holy Radiance rained down as he loudly commanded the Defender Army to divide and encircle the enemy, cutting off the deserters.

”By the Sun above! Purify the heretics! Leave none alive!”

As for Jon, his figure blurred. He activated Leaping Strike again, his target the Frost Scale Young Dragon that was trying to break away from the fight and take flight.

’This big guy is a real treasure.’

’As a mixed-blood Sub-dragon, its strength is firmly at the High Rank of the Official Level. However, due to its low Intelligence and its taming by the Eternal Frost Sect, the combat power it can exert is not as great as a true wild Sub-dragon. It serves more as a ”Siege Giant Beast” for the Eternal Frost Sect.’

’But that doesn’t detract from the value of its body as crafting materials—just like its ancestor, Broken Silver Wings·Eliot, who goes by the name Eternal Frost Dragon God·Candela.’

A cold smile touched the corners of Jon’s lips. The fiery dragon silhouette coalescing around him from his Dragon Flame Dance grew even more distinct.

His timing for entering the fray was impeccable, catching the Frost Scale Young Dragon just as it stumbled from Big Mimi’s pounce and Xia’s beam of light scorched its eye.

”Big Mimi! Pin down its right wing!”

”Xia! Keep blocking its line of sight! Don’t let it lock onto us!”

As he gave the commands, the blade in his hand, empowered by Dragon Flame, shot straight for the relatively vulnerable point where the young dragon’s neck connected to its head.

SHRRRIIIP!

[-344! (Counter!) -80 (Flame Damage!)]

The blade collided with the thick, frost-white scales, producing a teeth-grating screech as ice shards and sparks flew everywhere.

Even though the young dragon’s Scale Armor was tough, under the combined assault of Jon’s Power, the sharpness of his blade, and the high temperature of his Dragon Flame, a deep, scorched gash was still torn open. Ice-blue blood gushed out, instantly freezing into Ice Crystals on the ground.

”ROAR—!”
