Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1413: Chapter 760: Swift Cavalry Raid, Seizing the Advantage

”Don’t move, stay calm and nothing will happen.”

The other guards at the entrance were also almost simultaneously subdued, their lack of vigilance caused by years of peace.

Faced with the blades and guns pointed at them, there was no sign of resistance; who would risk their life for this meager pay?

After subduing those guys, someone immediately rushed to the high ground to hang up the bright red banner as a signal.

A scout outside saw the signal, swiftly turned around, and sprinted to find the concealed cavalry in the distance, while another went to notify the infantry...

”They’ve succeeded, now it’s our turn, let’s go!”

Reynard, waiting outside, received the news and without much hesitation led the cavalry in a charge.

The most crucial aspect of this plan was speed, fast enough so the others didn’t have time to react, thus allowing control of the situation before the enemy realized what was happening.

This cavalry unit charged like a sword pointing directly at the town, with no trace of concealment, focusing solely on speed.

And the infantry, receiving the message, also began a forced march, yet there was no disorder in their formation, everyone advanced in unison...

”Here they come!”

The soldier atop the high ground who raised the signal saw the dust stirred up by the cavalry and immediately gestured below.

Those soldiers who took the gates finally dropped their disguises, quickly tied up the guards, and then retrieved equipment from the wagon.

Many near the gates undoubtedly noticed this scene, but they didn’t dare approach, instead hurriedly running towards the town, likely shouting some words.

”Bandits are attacking!”

”Run!”

”...”

The chaos had started to spread, anyhow, no one attempted to reclaim the gates, allowing the soldiers to occupy it.

These folks had been at ease for too long, losing any readiness for war, showing no reaction even as the fight reached them.

The cavalry’s distance seemed obscured, but with the added momentum of a light cavalry charge, they quickly appeared here, rushing through the wide-open gates.

The commotion of over a hundred cavalry charging was enormous, causing panic as soon as they stormed in.

Upon entering, they shouted loudly.

”This town’s Lord has conspired with the evil cult in rebellion, Hamlet’s army has arrived to suppress the revolt!”

”Everyone go home immediately, not a scratch will be harmed!”

”Anyone who blocks us will die!”

Immediately branding these individuals as rebels and collaborators with the evil cult, seizing the moral high ground, whether they believed it or not was another matter.

Fortunately, these people did not dare to intercept, mostly scattered away in panic, fleeing the place, only a few dared to sneak a peek at the charging cavalry from the buildings.

Before arriving, everyone had already confirmed the buildings inside the town, knowing the routes of advance.

”You go capture that noble to control the situation, be quick, kill anyone who obstructs!” Reynard waved his hand, splitting half the cavalry to capture the local nobility while he led the rest straight to the church.

The cavalry raced through the town, frightening the commoners into a flurry to escape, yet encountering no resistance.

But as a noble’s mansion, guards were still present, well-equipped considering their own safety, their quality was better, having already formed a defensive formation upon detecting the chaos.

One could see them wearing armor, holding long spears; even if confronted by enemies, could they organize a defense to block...?

The charging cavalry saw the assembled spearmen from afar, the dense formation of spears indeed capable of halting cavalry, but Hamlet’s cavalry was unconventional.

”Watch out for bombs!”

Someone shouted before tossing several bombs from horseback, the soldiers had yet to react when the successive explosions scattered the formation.

Although the shrapnel might struggle to tear through their armor causing lethal damage, the shockwave was enough to dizzy and confuse these soldiers, and the scattered bloodstains indicated the damage wasn’t minor.

At this time, a wave of charge directly shattered them, leaving only soldiers fallen to the ground, the spreading blood hinted that the previous shout wasn’t a joke.

A cavalry unit dismounted, grabbed weapons, and charged into the building, while another circled outside to prevent escapes and incoming reinforcements.

”Bang bang bang!”

Fragmented gunfire echoed inside the building, and the last standing guards dropped, capturing the mansion and controlling the local leader.

Meanwhile, outside, there was still no organized attempt at rescue.

Impossible, the cavalry was simply too fast, their efficiency left no time for reaction.

On the other side, Reynard charged directly at the church in the town center.

”Disperse those civilians, if any unusual signs are detected don’t hold back, these people’s minds are like those of the evil cultists, irrational.

The rest follow me inside, capture those people!”

Reynard led the charge from the front, boldly uttering rebellious words upon approaching.

Having been deceived by the Church before, he knew those fanatical devotees had no fear of death, but they were a minority, most of the populace lived in a muddled manner, preferring to hide rather than involve themselves when it didn’t concern their interests.

Thus, as long as the clergy’s connection to the outside world in the church was severed, without anyone leading them, most of the so-called followers would prefer to hide at home avoiding the turmoil of war.
