Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1406: Chapter 756: Brewing of News (Part 2)

While Hamlet had previously captured spies, so much time has passed that it’s possible some have remained undercover.

So this situation immediately caught those people’s attention. They started to take action, trying to transmit messages through various means.

But is there a possibility that some more professional individuals have been doing this for a long time?

...

”Are you sure about this?”

Sela looked at the proud woman in front of her, increasingly feeling her mystery. It had only been a while since they last met, but why was she becoming more and more unfathomable?

”Everyone knows about this. Those nobles dared to associate with the cultists and provoke the Lord; they are courting death.”

Amanda’s mouth was filled with disdain for those so-called noble lords. It’s not that she was as fanatical as ordinary people.

But she really understood that those so-called noble Knights were simply no match in front of Hamlet’s Army.

So she didn’t care and was indifferent to how those nobles would react after receiving this news.

”No, I mean, do they really plan to flatten the south from east to west like this? Wouldn’t such a military route be too hasty?”

”You can doubt me, but you can’t doubt the Lord’s plan. His thoughts aren’t something we can easily comprehend.”

”I see, I see... By the way, do you know what actually happened in Hamlet recently?”

Sela didn’t doubt it. They would verify the news anyway, but she was more eager to learn about the situation of Extreme Darkness and the Blood Moon, as per the organization’s request.

When asked about this, Amanda lacked the confident feeling she had earlier. Instead, she responded nonchalantly.

”What I know isn’t more than what you guys know.”

Everyone is an intelligence professional; upon hearing this, Sela knew she couldn’t get more information out of Amanda.

However, for the sake of future cooperation, she refrained from sticking to it and revealed an interesting piece of information.

”Tamara has come out, the organization sent her to investigate the affairs in Hamlet; she’s on her way now.”

Upon hearing this, Amanda’s calm expression involuntarily shifted, but it quickly faded. With a sneer, she put on an indifferent look, ”Tamara? Hmph!”

Sela smiled without speaking, and after Amanda finished talking, she leisurely added another sentence.

”I heard this time the organization has entrusted both Sacred Objects to her.”

Sela, this fellow, definitely had no good intentions. She was truthful about Tamara coming and the Sacred Objects, but she concealed a crucial piece of news, which was that Tamara had already advanced to Champion.

This fellow’s words contained some provoking hints; seeing Amanda unwilling to talk about the Blood Moon, she brought up Tamara to disgust her.

As expected of the Romani, they would find a way to take revenge at even the slightest grievance.

”Then please pass on to the elders that Hamlet is deep water, not something anyone can grasp lightly. Investigating Hamlet sounds nice, but that person might not like it. I can’t guarantee that it won’t affect the transactions.”

Though Amanda had given up the nominal title of the Empire’s representative, some things couldn’t be avoided, as she was of Rom origin, a fact that couldn’t be changed.

Therefore, she didn’t break with them directly, she just didn’t interact with her former direct superior, her mentor, but maintained indirect contact with the organization through Sela.

Hamlet’s trade of several extraordinary items or potions with the Romani was facilitated by her, and she hadn’t done anything to betray the Romani.

At most, she only conveyed some intelligence to earn some funding, still maintaining this channel, and the Romani were making quite a bit of money out of it.

Also, her information was indeed accurate, as it is this time; moving troops isn’t something to be faked, is it?

However, it’s hard to say right now. Not only does Sela have a temper, but she does too.

She considered Hamlet her own domain; what do you mean by having Tamara investigate Hamlet?

Isn’t it clearly pointing fingers? This made her feel a kind of distrust of being under suspicion.

More importantly, knowing full well that Tamara didn’t get along with her, the upper echelons handed the two Sacred Objects to that bitch; who were they planning to deal with?

I used to be the hero chasing fugitives! And now you’re letting a fugitive investigate me?

For Amanda, this was a betrayal!

Already feeling emotional from being abandoned previously, this deepened her resentment towards the organization, and it began to seep into the Romani community.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have threatened to halt both sides’ transactions upon hearing about the organization’s laissez-faire attitude with Tamara.

Sela had said these things just to disgust Amanda, and seeing her like that, it’s unknown how loudly she laughed internally, even continuing to fan the flames.

But this was when she was suddenly left dumbfounded; why had the fire turned on her head?

Knowing that the transactions with Hamlet were under her purview, she didn’t know how much benefit she reaped, and it also strengthened her control over the Romani in the Empire’s region with more money.

It was hard to give up after tasting the benefits; if the transaction were to break off, she wouldn’t be able to answer both the higher-ups and those below.

Sela didn’t know if Amanda had the ability to influence the Lord of Hamlet, but she didn’t dare to gamble, as she could hardly even meet the Lord.

When Sela realized it, she immediately put on a righteous indignation and condemned the situation.

”I can’t stand Tamara either! Why can she return while we have to endure here?”

Her words intended to categorize both into the victim group hoping to draw them closer together.

Unfortunately, Amanda’s impression didn’t change because of these words. Instead, she wore a mocking expression and couldn’t even bother to say anything, turning and leaving directly.

Everyone here is an old hand; who plays with electronic cigarettes?

Sela was left dumbfounded, really wanting to slap herself, what the hell were you yapping about?

This time, who knows how much skin needed to be shed to settle this...

But remorse aside, she didn’t dare come before due to Extreme Darkness and the Blood Moon, and that potion inventory had long been depleted, so upon hearing it was safe, she quickly came to restock.

These messages were inconsequential instead. To her, whether Hamlet recovered the territory or not, it didn’t make much impact, and she didn’t think the nobles would pay much for this news.

Even the theoretically most valuable military route wasn’t credible to outsiders, let alone whether it was worth any money, as it was clear it was a sweeping tactic.

So this batch of goods was essential, and to acquire it, she needed to win over Amanda.

”Don’t go, I have a crucial piece of news that very few people know. You will definitely be interested.”

Sela got up and stopped Amanda, making a showy stance, whispering mysteriously.

”Tamara has advanced to Champion.”

This indeed made Amanda halt her steps, her expression turning somewhat complex.

She expected Tamara to be advancing quickly, but she didn’t imagine it would be this fast. Amanda relied on Hamlet to fight the Beast Lair, battle Deep Divers, and endure through dungeons to get promoted.

These things weren’t common as radishes and cabbages; how did she turn into a Champion after a round trip?

Amanda wasn’t aware of Tamara’s efforts. In her eyes, it was just differential treatment by the organization, further twisting her already unbalanced mindset.

”The Empire is our domain; with our long-time cooperation, I naturally support you!”

Sela laid it out clearly: resisting Tamara would be difficult alone; similarly, I dislike the organization’s investigators. Since our actions, if exposed, could be trouble, cooperating against Tamara was the best choice.

”Can it be dealt with before she arrives in Hamlet?”

Amanda was much more direct. Resistance wasn’t on the table.

If something were found out? The investigator sent by the higher-ups should meet with an accident, a crash or drown.

”Not likely, the tools in her hand aren’t fake, they’d detect any moves.”

Sela shook her head; it wasn’t that she didn’t want to, but she simply couldn’t.

Champion Spellcaster, specializing in prophecy and divination as an astrologer, not to mention possessing two Sacred Objects, made ambushing nearly impossible. Besides, exposure wouldn’t be easy to explain to the higher-ups.

”Then stop fretting, let her come as she pleases.”

Amanda suddenly realized, as she wasn’t reliant on the organization anymore, what’s there to fear...
