Transmigrated as an Unwanted Ugly Girl

Chapter 691: Chapter 357: Not the Master Type

When Juhua woke up, the heavy, exhausted feeling had lessened considerably. She opened her eyes to find Huai Zi sitting on the edge of the bed, holding one of her hands and gazing at her with a smile.

”Are you feeling any better?” he asked softly.

The moment Juhua saw his expression, she guessed that Doctor Qin must have already told him the truth. She didn’t try to get up, and with the languor of someone just waking, she asked softly in a husky voice, ”Huai Zi, you know?”

Huai Zi gently squeezed her hand. After a brief pause, he nodded. ”Doctor Qin told me everything. Juhua, don’t be scared. Doctor Qin and Doctor Yun are incredible. I just went to see Aunt Liu. She’s in great spirits, her voice is strong, and she can walk around without any problems. She’s not in pain anymore, either. She just can’t do any heavy work yet. Her son is very sturdy, and Doctor Yun says her milk supply is excellent. Juhua, don’t be afraid. Doctor Qin said that since you’re younger than Aunt Liu, your recovery will be even easier. He now...”

Juhua lay on her back, listening to his stream of comforting words. ’It’s amazing he managed to ask Qin Feng so many questions in such a short time,’ she thought. ’He practically knows more about caesarean sections than I do. Then again, I don’t really know anything about them, just that the surgery exists. Huai Zi must have questioned Qin Feng meticulously, and since Qin Feng just performed one, of course he would have explained it all in detail.’

For a moment, her eyes welled up with tears. She smiled and said, ”Huai Zi, I’m not scared. I’ve known for a long time that something wasn’t right with my body, but have you ever seen me look afraid? It’s not that I’m brave; I just don’t sense any danger. My intuition is very strong, you know. Let me tell you, when Yun Ying came last time, I had a very bad feeling, and just as I thought, she lost the medicine. But this time, I don’t feel uneasy at all. Isn’t that strange? That’s why I think our baby is blessed and will be perfectly fine. See? Isn’t Aunt Liu the best proof of that?”

Hearing this, Zhang Huai squeezed her hand in delighted surprise. ”Really?” he asked. ”I thought you seemed very calm every day, too, except for right at the beginning, when you used to cry so easily. Haha, you and the baby really are blessed! Oh! No, I shouldn’t put it that way. We have Doctor Qin and Doctor Yun to thank. They’re practically miracle workers. Meeting them is your real blessing.”

The two of them chatted and laughed softly for a while. They decided to tell Qingmu first, and then inform their parents on the day of the surgery to keep them from worrying day and night.

Zhang Huai carefully supported Juhua’s back, letting her lean on him as he helped her slowly get up. ”Let’s get up and walk around a bit,” he said. ”It’s not good to lie in bed all the time. You must be hungry. It’s time for something to eat.”

Juhua nodded. She got out of bed, straightened her clothes, put her hair up again, and donned her face veil. Then, leaning on Zhang Huai, she walked out into the courtyard. When He saw her, she quickly brought over a chair with a backrest for her to sit on. Only after confirming that Juhua felt fine did she go to the kitchen, relieved, to get her something to eat.

In the courtyard, a large amount of corn was spread out to dry, gleaming a brilliant yellow. Heipi was sitting amidst a pile of corncobs, shucking them. When he saw Zhang Huai and Juhua, he called out, ”Eldest Young Master, Eldest Young Madam!”

Juhua found this incredibly strange and awkward. ’It seems I’m not cut out to be a mistress at all,’ she thought. ’A simple title is enough to make me feel uncomfortable.’

Zhang Huai wasn’t used to it either and quickly said, ”Heipi, don’t call me that. You can just call me Brother Huai Zi. I’m no young master.”

Heipi stared, his mouth agape. ”How could I do that?” he finally said. ”My parents would scold me if they heard. How about... I call you Young Master Huai Zi?” ’In his heart, he found it very strange. What was wrong with being called Young Master? It sounded much better than young master.’

Just as Juhua was wondering what title would be appropriate for him to use, Yun Ying came out of the west room with a grin, leading a small, dark-skinned girl by the hand. ”Juhua, you’re awake?” she said. ”Let me see—” She lifted Juhua’s face veil for a look. ”Much better. Brother Huai Zi, bring a table out here. I want to take her pulse again.”

Zhang Huai hurried into the kitchen and brought out the small square table.

Meanwhile, Yun Ying pulled the little girl to her side and introduced her to Juhua. ”Juhua, this is Heipi’s little sister, Heiya. She’s nine years old. Heiya, this is Sister Juhua. You’ll be staying with her from now on.”

The little girl said timidly, ”Miss... oh, no, Young Madam—”

Juhua quickly waved her hands. ”It would be better if you just call me Sister Juhua. I’m not used to that ’Young Madam’ title,” she said. ”We were just discussing this with your brother.”

Heiya hesitated and glanced at her brother, but she saw Heipi shaking his head at her. She was instantly at a loss for what to do.
